Back then, kids used to start working around 6 years old, especially in small villages like this, helping their father with hard work and other jobs around the house, carrying water and such. It seems odd a game like this would have us wait 18 years for a kid to start working, it even says apprentice. An apprentice job can be done at much younger ages.

My father has NPD and was verbally and physically abusive to my mom and me growing up, I haven't spoken to him in 3 years. I have enough c-PTSD and have been to therapy for 3 years now on and off and have been doing pretty well.
My past relationships have been secure, and this was my first time seriously dating someone off a dating app. I met him 5 months ago, he immediately struck me as insecure since he couldn't give ANY compliments unless he was returning them, would brag about women he dated or had sex with (throw in lines like I dated an OnlyFans model once randomly in the middle of a convo). But I was Okay with having something not so serious with him. Slowly he convinced me he wanted to be serious, and I thought, Sure let's see. I'm way above your league but as long as I'm having fun, I'm willing to try too.
Three months in he started tearing me down - my house was too messy (after he'd create a mess), too disorganized, Is that what you wore to office?, You need better clothes, wear better colors, You don't invest in good things, 'You actually look good in that top/I actually like that top on you' like it surprised him. The best one was he said Your kettle and showerhead suck, I need to buy you the Costco one. for two weeks, until I found a return receipt from Costco for $250 where he returned among other things he'd used for a whole fucking year, the showerhead he talked about so often. I didn't comment, people can live the way they want, but a week before he'd said that People who return things to Amazon after using them are jerks when I told him I met someone who did that*.* Before I said anything about the receipt he said It's not the most moral thing but it works. LOL.
After I threw him out two weeks ago, I realized even though I SHOT BACK at every bad comment he made (I would reason : is he trying to add value to my life? Then realize there's a better way to do that too), even though I knew HE MUST BE HELLA INSECURE about himself to talk like that, though I even knew that this man lives a shit life (lies about having a Master's degree to get dates, tries to come off better than he is) I did slowly internalize some of it though I knew HE WAS WRONG. It was like my dad had come back to tear me down.
I hope that I got my mom (who entertained and is still married to an asshole) out of my system. I'll never again date someone who doesn't deserve me, even FOR FUN.

This cat has decided I am her pet human. She showed up at my house one day, trying to sneak into my garage. She followed someone who was walking down the street. I thought she was no longer my problem. A few hours later, she was back.
I don't know why she chose me as I did not feed her and the only attention I paid to her was to shoo her out of my garage. But, she snuck in while I was getting things out of my vehicle. And she made here self comfortable. The two times I had her outside, she followed me around the yard and back inside.
A stray cat that was house ready. I just had to buy the gear for her. I am lucky as there were no signs of fleas on her. I have a feeling she was abandoned. She does not claw my furniture and is easily corrected verbally. Her favorite past time is begging for food.
I posted locally trying to find her owner, but no one responded. I also had her checked for a chip and that came up nill. So, after almost a month, I have decided her human name is Matches. For some reason, her tail tip reminded me of a match head. And I can tell people not to play with Matches as a joke.
She is an easy going cat, just my type.

I enjoy watching her play with my daughters, see her laugh, and well I've always been attracted to her but now more than ever. My mind wonders into places I should never be in. I enjoy texting her, sometimes she tells me good morning and asks me about my work, the girls etc.. I look forward to seeing her, and her texts when they come, this is bad guys. Testing the new 2023 M Plus and it's pretty decent! It's pretty different, some big changes and that has an effect on performance of course. The texture is great for grip but personally I am not a big fan of the look, but that's ok, performance is the most important thing I believe anyway. I found the new pen to be really good with the large airport completely unblocked which surprised me as I normally block it. It's good both ways to be honest. The oven size is excellent, the new tip is amazing and I have been using it in my Yllvape Heater and Orion V2 with great success. Using a torch lighter on the side of the finless tip is a bit tricky to get the hang of but amazing when you nail it. You can keep hitting the pen over and over, not like an Armored Cap but 3-4 decent puffs if you get it hot enough, the cap clicks and you don't combust. 2023.03.29 05:12 guvnor2 (PA) Help! Buyer's agent agreement commission structure seems high/out of my control? Is this normal? Am I getting ripped off?

I'm about to put in an offer on a house as a first time buyer and wanted to know if the fee structure for the buyer's commission is normal. The agreement my agent sent over says that the buyers agent is paid (by me) 3% of the purchase price, plus a flat fee of $1000, less the commission paid by the sellers agent. My understanding is that the fee was normally paid entirely by the seller, 5-6%, split evenly between the buyer and seller's agents. With the average commission in my state being about 5.5%, this would add about $2500 to my closing costs. I can't find anything about this being a normal set up. Am I getting ripped off, or am I just ignorant to how this works?

I been wanting to start my very first Etsy shop! But before I do, I'm a little confused because here in Canada I know you have to register your business with a business license. If I'm just starting out, do I have to register with a business license before I even start?
How do so many people start new shops? Do they all register their Etsy Shop's with a business license before? Wouldn't that cost a lot each time for a new shop? What if the shop doesn't make any sales after they register for a business license? I know you have to register for GST/HST once you reach $30,000, would registering for GST/HST be enough?

Building a garden bed
Hi all,
We recently moved into our new home and for the first time in a while, I have a backyard to do some gardening. I want to build a raised garden bed to plant some herbs, tomatoes, peppers, and strawberries if the space allows it. First time I'm building one so I had a few questions. Note, living in Long Island, NY if that changes things weather wise.

I know cedar is best but seems pricey so I was thinking about going with untreated Douglas Fir.
  • Any recommendations on the width? 2x8 or 2x10?
  • Any particular oil I can treat it with? I read tung oil would be a good option
  • Is fir a better option than pine?
I have a few options on where I can put the actual bed but was hoping I can put it against a fence. Added a pic.
  • Any drainage issues being this close to the house? House and deck are 3ft above ground. No basement, just a crawlspace.
Any tips on filling the bed and drainage?
  • I was thinking a layer of gravel at the bottom.
  • There's small tree I need to cut down I figured I can throw it in there.
  • We cut a rather large tree a few months ago and there's still a lot of wood chips in the yard from it so I figured that can go on top of the soil.
Long side of the bed would be approximately 16ft x 3 ft. The shorter side would be approx 5ft x 3ft.
Anything else I need to consider?

I was gonna buy the 7900xtx cuz most 4080 was at 1800 range, was $300 difference, but today there's a gigabyte 4080 on sale for 1599 only $100 CAD difference, I was shocked and can't decide lol
On paper 7900xtx seems to be alot better, I know other things counts too but 24g VRAM vs 16g and 384bit bus vs 256bit, that's quit abit I think.
Mainly just playing MMORPGs like black desert online, WoW, ect. other games like assassin's creed. Guess most mmo doesn't support RT right? I have a 4k monitor @165hz
Which 1 should I get for best performance and value in 4 years?

2023.03.29 05:10 mferna9 I turned a $40,000 Private Loan into $595,500 worth of Real Estate (and $195,000 in Equity)

Posting to hopefully inspire someone to get started or take the next step, but also to share a win with the community.
Back in October of 2018, I bought a very small SFH (property A) at an auction for $37,500. Long story short, it was in a rural area and very few people came to the auction (and no-one besides me showed up to inspect it prior to the auction). Bidding started at 50% of the appraised value ($75,000), and I was the only bidder. I put a few thousand dollars into painting the inside, outside, and replacing the fridge and stove. Then rented it out for $950/mo (later $1,200/mo when that tenant moved out). At the time, I didn't have the cash for it, so borrowed the money from a private lender I knew personally at 12% interest.

Shortly after (early 2019), I found a duplex (Property B) on MLS I wanted to buy but still didn't have the cash for a down payment, but did have a good chunk of equity in this new property. I called a lender and asked if I could do a single loan for both properties using the equity in property A to cover the down payment for property B (duplex). Much to my surprise at the time, his response was: "Yep, it's called a portfolio loan, we do these all the time". I was able to buy the new duplex for $135,000 with the seller covering all closing costs, and the equity from Property A to cover Property B's down payment and paid off the private loan. I can't remember exactly, but pretty much nothing out of pocket! Once rates dropped after COVID I refinanced out of the portfolio loan and into separate 30-year fixed loans (I think 3.5%).

Fast forward to the end of 2022. Someone reached out to me and asked if I'd be willing to sell property A. I said yes, but for no less than $150,000 (pretty high price for this size home in this area- I was worried it wouldn't appraise). They agreed and we moved forward with the sale in February of this year. I did a 1031 exchange with the proceeds (roughly $80K), and shortly after identified 2 new duplexes (Properties C and D) to buy. They happen to be from the same seller and one was across the street from a property I already own, and the other next-door to a property I already own. Plus, both were a pretty good price and great terms (Bond for Deed with 5.75% interest rate; 30 year am; 20% down).

I closed today and the 1031 money covered all of the down payment and closing costs except for $350.00! So virtually nothing out of pocket. Cashflow is decent from day one, but the rents are slightly below market, so I know it'll be great as soon as these tenants move out.

In all, this one little house and a $40K private loan resulted in 3 duplexes:
Property B: worth $225K today ($121K in equity). Cashflows $450/mo after PITI, repairs, vacancy, capex, etc.
Property C: worth $175,500 ($35K in equity). Cashflows $180/mo after PITI, repairs, vacancy, capex, etc.
Property D: worth $195,000 ($39K in equity). Cashflows $150/mo after PITI, repairs, vacancy, capex, etc.

2023.03.29 05:08 max2baby My wife doesn't want to see me when I regress, am I asking too much of her?

26M (little age 2-4) I've been trying to explore my little side but the issue is I can only do it if my wife is not around as she has expressed it makes her uncomfortable and she doesn't want to see it. She has said this is her boundary and I can only embrace my little side in private and she will never budge on that. I understand this makes her uncomfortable, but what makes me sad is that she will never allow me to enter my littlespace in front of her in any form. To preface I can sometimes enter little space on purpose, but sometimes it's triggered without me intending it to so I have to pretend I'm not (usually I just go non-verbal). She has told me that the reason I am not allowed to is because consent goes both ways. Which of course I understand to a degree, but I don't feel that really applies in all aspects especially since my regression is entirely non-sexual. Also, I am not asking that she be a CG for me or even interact, I just want her to allow for me to enter that space while she's in the room. She says her #1 non-negotiable for me to do in front of her is use a paci. The diapers I can understand so I've explained I could wear pants and not wear all the time either. She said she can always tell and just know I'm wearing them is too much for her. The refusal to allow for me to use a paci in front of her is what really baffles me. I have a bad habit of biting the inside of my cheeks so the paci helps me to use something else. I guess my question for those reading this is have any of you been in a relationship like this? How were you able to cope through it? Is this really sustainable? Is it really asking too much for me to be allowed to use a paci in the same room as her? I know I'm not asking her to be involved, but I feel guilty about wanting her to allow me to regress when I need to cuz she says she will have to leave the house whenever it happens cuz it disgusts her.

So I (21F) have met my former friend (24M) last year, we’ll call him Steven. Steven and I met in a mutual hobby in October of 2021 and continued to do that hobby together regularly all the way through August of 2022. We were really fast friends and we spent so much time together, seeing each other almost every day during that time period. We started hanging out outside of that hobby and I truly considered him one of my best friends. Now in March of 2022, a group of people sort of joined our group and we started hanging out with them as well. Steven knew all of them previously but I hadn’t met them before. The notable people are Jason (M23), Megan (F22), and her sister Michelle (F25). Jason and I actually had a lot more in common than Steven and I did but the three of us hung out as a trio quite a bit. Megan and Michelle and I also got along insanely well, and they are like my surrogate family now. Now in October of 2022, Megan, Michelle, and I planned a trip to a nearby big city that some of our friends lived in, this included Jason, who moved at the end of August, it’s about two hours from our hometown. We planned this a couple weeks in advance as a girls weekend and we were gonna get lunch with Jason while we were there, but he wasn’t a big part of the trip.
So on October 9, we were all at a party together while Jason was in town for the weekend. Some of our other friends were in town and Steven was in the living room with some of them while I was in the dining room with some of our other friends, Michelle, Megan, and Jason. We were all moving in and out of the rooms but this is where we were when Steven told us he as going home. This was earlier than he usually would leave something like this but I knew he had a long day and didn’t think anything of it. After I left the party, he sent me a message asking if he could talk to me about our friendship and I went over to his house to talk it out. He told me that he thought something “really shitty” was happening at that party and he had heard all about my “big plans that didn’t include him.” He was referring to the upcoming girls trip and was mad he wasn’t invited. I explained to him that no one was invited, we just made plans together and that is was a girls trip just the three of us but that there will always be more day trips and not to worry about this one, we’ll find something we can do all four of us. He just sort of shrugged me off and we went back and forth but it wasn’t getting anywhere and I eventually went home.
Now on October 22, we were all invited to our mutual friend’s birthday party, a big thing 20+ people and it was really fun. Some of our friends travelled far to make it for the weekend so I was spending a lot of time with them and Michelle, Megan, Jason, and I got dinner with them the next day because they have all known each other since high school. The day after we got dinner, Steven FaceTimed me and started chewing me out for going out with them and not inviting him. Now I hadn’t planned this, I had just been invited and it wasn’t my place to invite more people. I told him this and he said he just didn’t understand it. He’s known all of these people for 5+ years and I’ve just met them, and that “if anything they should be thanking [him] because [he] introduced them to [me].” He ranted for a bit longer and then told me that he doesn’t “get why anyone would want to be friends with me.” I ended the conversation after that comment. I’ve been really honest with him about having trouble with bully’s and not having a very easy go at making friends in my youth and that causing me a lot of anxiety later in life. So it really hurt me when he said that, and he should know that.
We didn’t really talk after that and we are civil when we see each other because we still run in similar circles. I explained what happened to our friends at the time and most of them took my side but I wasn’t really looking for sides to me taken. He’s gotten into arguments with the rest of our friend group, idk the details of all of them but now he’s just not really friends with our larger group. I feel bad because the argument with me was the catalyst for all this and a lot of the things said were moments of anger and I’m not sure if he really meant everything in such a hurtful way. He’ll post cryptic things online about knowing who your real friends are and not letting snakes sneak in and I know it’s about me. He hasn’t apologized or even tried to reach out since but I can’t help but thinking that a lot of what’s going on is my fault. He’s known them for such a long time and they weren’t close before we all started hanging out but now they don’t even talk. And I can’t help but think that if I had just invited him to those things this never would have happened.
So should I reach out to him? He’s been posting about how he is really lonely and it feels like it’s all my fault.
