2023.03.29 06:27 projectwar Early game balance issues (feedback)
Here are my thoughts on potential issues I found after playing both weekends. I'm a poe andy, but played d2 and 3 as well, but this stuff isn't about endgame,
or complexity, its purely early game balance, and the experience of leveling a character TO endgame! Not just ONCE, but multiple times. this is an arpg after all.
I made a commentary video going more in depth:
https://youtu.be/POthomHs6GI But, here are the takeaways I hope get fixed.
- Skill tree is tad limited. Branched nodes don't change too much for skills, which limits your variety of what you can do early on.
- Because normal rare gear is so basic, the above is made worse, since you have little customization you can do with rares. its mostly just dmg boost or defense boost, but nothing like chance to freeze, or MANA REGEN, life regen. Gear doesn't even have stat requirements so you completely ignore traditional stats like stdex/int etc.
- Gems are garbage with no good effects. they give more of the same as you do on rares, so again, it doesn't expand variety.
- Skill balance is pretty bad. Ultimates are mostly garbage with way too long of a cooldown for their damage, and many classes have skills that straight up ae better than others in the same class. ie blight vs corpse explosion. aoe skills, but 1 cost high resource to cast, is a dot, and dmg isn't that great compared to CE which is instant dmg and no mana cost.
- mana cost for many skills are too high considering we have no good mana regen. basic skills as regen, i'm not a fan of, but they could have given mana regen on rares to help alleviate that.
which that last point leads into Druid. Druid early game was not fun. a slog. too slow for an arpg considering how different your clear is WITH legendary gear. but until then, druid and barb will not be fun classes to level with. nor, fast. if there's races in the future for seasons, nobodies gonna climb with druid or barb. this has to do with their resource engine not regenerating, and no spirit sustain other than spamming basic skills or EVENTUALLY getting to some resource gain skills on your tree (you have to waste points investing into btw) just slows the classes even more. barb is superb with gear, but i think things can be changed to benefit early game while not destroying endgame.
also in druids case, give it its goddamn specialization earlier. lv20 even. maybe that "fixes" druid, but it needs to be gotten way sooner than even 25 if nothing else is changed.
- Legendaries so far are mostly bad. the ones we got had very little synergy, and were too focused, with the good ones gave too much of a power swing, like the bloodmist one. power swings should be like a unique thing for specialized skills, while legendaries should be general benefits for your class (like more projectiles, bigger aoe for ANY skill, etc). and because of the poor rarity gear and poor skill customization in the trees, this leads to little in variance of builds early game, relying heavily on legenderies. and we can assume the same for uniques in endgame. Barb was one of the few exceptions with decent legendary synergy.
- dungeons gimmicks were bad. it would be okay if they had a chance top spawn in a dungeon, where a dungeon by default was a normal cave you went through and killed the enemies and boss with no conditions. but a mandatory puzzle each time is tiring. I'm sure later on there will be more interesting stuff with sigils and dungeon altering maybe, but when we progress its gonna be a slog solving a puzzle each dungeon we do.
- I hope bosses are great farms in the game. while not early game, i hope set bonus gear added in the future is not all found from dungeons, but some pieces can only drop from uber version of bosses, to split content up, and incentivize people rebuild to handle those hard bosses. and hopefully, with limited tries per run. poe maven and such were hard not just because they were hard, but because you had only 6 portals to clear. that needs to be done in this game, some limitation. this is post-launch stuff ofc.
there's couple more things but suppose thats the main concerns. if we're gonna have seasons, a fresh leveling experience is gonna be important, so it'd be nice if base skills and classes were more evenly balanced, and some power is taken away from legendaries and brought to trees so some skills can be effective (blood mist is really bad by itself and you'll likely never use it outside of hardcore for 1 free dodge every 20 seconds...). also for real....make ults better. they better not have backloaded ultimate to legendaries that give them like 1000 increased damage. plz no. druid needs spirit regen by default, and maybe barb shouldn't lose fury overtime if not in combat.

[PS1/PS2] Arcade Style Shmup With Top Down View And Movement in All Directions.
Platform(s):
PS1 or PS2. I remember the game having a lot of impressive special effects and analog movement, so probably PS2.
Genre:
Arcade, Shoot-em-up
Estimated year of release:
2000-2005
Graphics/art style:
Lots of visual effects going on. Missiles, Explosions, Lasers. Graphically, it seemed a lot like a space shooter, but every level was in some sort of digital arena? Backgrounds often had a grid/mesh design.
Notable characters:
No humans or creatures or anything. I remember the player character being some kind of simple ship, like a triangle almost. Not sure if you could use different ships or not.
Notable gameplay mechanics:
You control some kind of ship in a 3D environment, with a top down or tilted camera view. You move around the level shooting enemies to score points, moving from level to level. You could move in any direction but you didn't fly, it was more like hovering above the ground, moving in any direction except downwards.
Any ideas appreciated. I could be misremembering a lot, I played this game when I was very young.

2023.03.29 06:25 realm47 I took my son to a hockey game
I'm a huge fan of live sports (I used to have season tickets to both football and basketball, and would go to the occasional hockey game too). But I hadn't gone to a single sporting event since having kids.
My 4 year old son happily watches sports with me on TV, and is currently most obsessed with hockey. He saw a Blippi video about an ice rink, and was immediately hooked. I took him ice skating last month, and although I had to spend the entire time hunched over holding onto him, he loved every minute of it. For about a month, his favorite toy was a toy Zamboni I bought him.
After celebrating Michigan making it to the Frozen Four this past weekend, I got a little too drunk and decided to impulse-buy two tickets to my local NHL team, with the intention of trying to take my son. My dad used to take me to hockey games before he passed away and they were some of the fondest memories from my youth. I had no idea how my son would handle it, but I figured "you'll never know unless you try", and figured worst case scenario I was out $140.
The next morning when I sobered up, I immediately regretted it. Will he be overwhelmed by all the people? How is he going to handle all the bright lights and loud music? Will he be able to sit still in his seat at all, or will we need to leave immediately? What if he poops himself while we're there, does the arena even allow you to bring bags of stuff with you? How far away will we have to park? Can he walk that far, or will I need to carry him without a stroller? I was seriously considering not going, but my wife convinced me to try it out anyways, so I hesitantly did.
I had no idea what to expect. Anything from "completely overwhelmed total meltdown" to "quietly watches it all in amazement" seemed a possibility. But I'm happy to report that everything went great! Even better than my best case scenario!
We told him for the past few days that he would be going to a hockey game with daddy, and he was very excited about it. On the drive there, we got stuck in traffic for 25 unexpected minutes (which normally really annoys him), but he wasn't bothered. He just kept repeating "let's go to the hockey game". We got there late because of the traffic, so had to park about half a mile away. I was expecting I'd need to carry him most of the way, but he walked it all by himself, holding my hand the entire time. He even walked all the stairs up to the upper section.
He spent most of the time looking around taking in everything. The music and lights didn't seem to bother him at all. There was even an obnoxious fan of the opposing team sitting literally right in front of him who didn't seem to bother him. At several points, he turned to me and said "I'm feeling happy. I love you", which completely melted my heart.
We left after 2 periods (after letting him watch the Zambonis in the 2nd intermission) when he started getting a little antsy, and it was already way past bedtime. I had to carry him back to the car because it was raining, but even getting wet didn't seem to bother him.
The worst part of the entire evening was that the home team lost. I couldn't belive that was the only thing worth complaining about.

2023.03.29 06:25 tZipia Surprise 52-Book Challenge in 2023! - Part 2
As I stated in my first post, my wife started a surprise 52-book challenge for me this year. This means I read a randomly selected book that she has wrapped based on a number generator. Here are the second set of eight random books I got, and my little mini-reviews.
9. The Last Song - This book started off a little slow for me, but I love a book that can make me cry. This book achieved that. I love the slow build and the character growth just in a short amount of time. I loved the fathedaughter relationship throughout the story. It made me wish that my father and I could have repaired our relationship. Spoiler ahead, if you don’t want one of the main points ruined, skip this. Then you add the death of her father and losing my father in early 2022 it really drove the point home. This was my first experience with Nicholas Sparks. I’m excited to read more of his books. I was not expecting to have enjoyed the book as much as I did but ended up giving this book a 10 out of 10. The second perfect score of 2023.
10. A Dirty Job - Ever wonder what it would be like to be the Grim Reaper? A Dirty Job allows you get to explore this through the eyes of a new father who just lost his wife. One of my biggest coping mechanisms growing up was humor, so I love a good book that includes a lot of humor and when it makes me actually makes me laugh out loud, then you know it covers the humor category. One thing about this book is it’s not for the faint of heart. Christopher Moore has a hell of a mind and he doesn’t hold back in the graphic nature of his writing. If that doesn’t bother you and you enjoy a funny but engaging story, try giving this one a go. I gave this book an 8 out of 10.
11. Black Cake - Damn. That is all I want to say about how amazing this book is. It follows Byron and Benny as they learn about their family history. Honestly, this is another book that I think everyone should pick up. I don’t want to spoil a single thing about it, just read it. I gave this book a 10 out of 10. The third perfect score of 2023.
12. Fairy Tale - A modern retelling of a few fairy tales tied into one. Stephen King really captures the essence of telling a fairy tale. This is not his typical style of books and that is what I liked about it. It follows a young man as he discovers an additional world and his journey through the adventure of the world. It gave me modern The Chronicles of Naria vibes, but more towards an adult audience. The characters and his ability to build a universe are really what brought this book to life. If you are a fan of his writing style and world-building, this is definitely a good book to read. If you are more of a fan of his horror style, this might be a pass. I loved it and gave this book an 8 out of 10.
13. Matched - Matched is very similar to the idea behind The Giver. I prefer this, though The Giver is a classic. This one had (in my opinion) a more interesting lead character. I wasn’t fully drawn into the story but enjoyed it enough to want to know how it will continue to progress. I enjoyed the characters, though none of them really stood out, and the development of the main character throughout the story. As I said, I wasn’t completely drawn in, but as the story continued to progress, I could see myself liking it quite a bit. I gave this book a 6 out of 10.
14. The Notebook - Everyone said I was going to love this book, and it’s no surprise that I loved it. It’s a classic (yes, I know it was published in 1996) love story. The characters are beautifully written; the story is sad but lovely, and the plot draws you in. I feel as if I’m the last woman on earth to read this book, but I’m certainly glad that I picked it up. After giving The Last Song a perfect score, I was extremely excited to draw another Nicholas Sparks book. I thought that The Last Song was a better read (more personal for me) but both books deserve top scores. I also gave this one a 10 out of 10. The fourth perfect score in 2023.
15. The Selection - I started this book knowing that I was going to absolutely not like it. I have a friend who she and I have very similar reading tastes and she doesn’t like the series at all. However, was pleasantly surprised by how much I actually enjoyed the main character. I don’t like how the story ended and don’t like how she ended up treating the main (or secondary depending on how you look at it) love interest, but all in all, I really like the story. I think it will continue to get better and better as I read the rest of the eight books. Also, I feel that if the story doesn’t go the way I want it to go, then I’m going to be very disappointed in it as a whole, but I still have hope. I gave this one a 7 out of 10.
16. Once Upon a Broken Heart - I freaking love this story. It’s got everything you could want. A deeply flawed main character, a few little twists and turns along the way, a weird relationship, and rooting for the “villain”. “Villian” in quotation marks, because you really don’t know who the villain truly is in the story. I love the main character and how the story develops and can’t wait to continue the next book and will pick up the last book as soon as it comes out later this year. I gave this book a 9 out of 10.
17. Beast - Review coming in the next set of books.
Did ya miss my first post? Here are the reviews for books 1-12:
1. Twilight - I didn't think I would enjoy this one, as I have already seen the movies, but it pleasantly surprised me. Yes, it's a little childish, and as of the standard vampire reads, I prefer the Sookie Stackhouse stories, but it was good. I'm interested in reading the rest of the story and will start them after I finish the 52 books and the Sweep Series. I gave this book a 7 out of 10.
2. All Grown Up - I did not know what it was about when I bought this book. I only picked it up because it is a Book of the Month book (and I collect them). However, this was an excellent read. It follows a regular woman and her life. It's not perfect, but it's hers. I love the way the story plays out and the person the story follows. I highly recommend this book to everyone that just wants a different read. This book is a must-read, and I gave it a 10 out of 10.
3 . Emerald City - Another random thrift book find. It was one of the last books I bought in 2022. Trigger warning up front, this book talks about suicide. It follows a young woman who has reached her limits in life and tries to take her own life, only to be saved by her nosey neighbor. She has a story after that moment and what it takes to rebuild her life. It was a tough read for me (as my brother commented suicide and all I could think about was how I wished a nosey neighbor had saved him). Though it was a tough read, it was definitely a good one, and I would recommend it to anyone who can get past the trigger warning. I gave this book an 8 out of 10.
4. All the Light We Cannot See - I've learned something over the last few years. I'm the type of girl that loves Historical Fiction. Some of my favorite books in the past few years have fallen into this category. All the Light We Cannot See is another wonderfully written story. It follows multiple characters as they progress through World War II. I could say so much more about this story, but I don't want to spoil it. If you like historical fiction, read this book. I gave it an 8 out of 10.
5. Lightlark - This one hooked me from the very beginning. The book begins with these two lines: Isla Crown often fell through puddles of stars and into faraway places. Always without permission—and seemingly on the worst occasions. Honestly, it had me intrigued, and that never went away. I wanted to know what was happening throughout the entire story. I loved the main character, Isla. She is a flawed but determined individual, which I can easily relate to. My biggest issue with this book is that as of finishing it, there is no expected release date for the sequel. This is another book that I would say is a must-read if you like young adult fantasy with twists and turns. I gave this one 9 out of 10.
6. Stalking Jack the Ripper - This is part whodunit, part classic criminology story. Everyone knows the story of Jack the Ripper, but this is a twist on that story with a dash of feminism and a nice little twist. Again it had me from the very beginning, "I placed my thumb and forefinger on the icy flesh, spreading it taut above the breastbone as Uncle had showed me." This story was so good that I devoured it in a single day. Normally read multiple books, at the same time, to adjust for my low attention span, but I could not put this down. I spent eight hours on a gloomy Sunday reading this entire book and I wouldn’t change a thing. I can’t wait to read the rest of this series and probably would have already finished them all if I wanted to read through the rest of the surprise books. This one almost made me put a pause on that just to read more. I again would say it’s a must-read. I also gave this one a 9 out of 10.
7. The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue - I dislike talking badly about books. As a lesbian, I thought this book would be right up my alley with its LGBTQ themes. Plus, it came highly recommended by the internet, and usually, they are not wrong. However, I found this book hard to connect to. The main character is a self-indulgent ass and though he grows tremendously during the book, I couldn’t help but not like his character. He was very self-centered and put his friends and family at risk for his own selfish needs. I, however, can’t wait for the next book in this series, as it follows the main character's sister. The development of that character in the book is something I like. She was always blunt and to the point, never allowing her circumstances to hold her back. I do not recommend this book, but it is very popular on the internet. I gave this book a 4 out of 10 and felt that was generous.
8. And I Darken - I don’t know what to say about this book. I can’t tell if I liked it or not… I simply think I need to keep reading the series to judge the book. It was not what I was expecting. I liked most of the characters; the plot had a few twists and turns, and the story was appealing, all things I like, but I don’t know. I guess I felt like it could have been better, and I expect it to get better as the series progresses. It was really picking up at the end of the story and building into something I thought would work. It has two more books in the series and I hope the sequel continues to build upon the final few chapters and add to the world. I gave this a 6 out of 10.

2023.03.29 06:24 Gaciet017 Drown in the『Deep Purple』sea
STAND NAME:『Deep Purple』
STAND USER: Anya Syrena
Namesake: “Deep Purple” English rock band; “Hush” song by Deep Purple
Legal nickname:『D Purple』;『Shush』
Ability type: Long Range; Reconnaissance
Form type: Artificial Non-Humanoid
STAND STATS:
POWER: B Deep Purple packs heavy sound artillery like torpedos that explode with sound waves. As a last resort, Deep Purple itself can run into people like if it were a torpedo.
SPEED: C Deep Purple and its torpedoes can reach speeds up to 30 mph.
RANGE: A Deep Purple has a range of 100 meters from Anya. Hush can also reach 100 meters before the sounds appear blurry.
DURATION: B Deep Purple is quite durable for a long range Stand but will succumb to damage, so having Deep Purple positioned far from the enemy is Anya’s best course.
CONTROL: E Deep Purple’s accuracy requires Anya to know where to shoot, which is where Hush comes for, as it aids Deep Purple’s accuracy by revealing the targets.
POTENTIAL: C Anya has learned a lot about Deep Purple’s sound manipulation abilities. Combined with its long range it makes for a great Stand to use for searching targets and barraging them with controlled chaos.
User description: Anya Syrena is a teenager from a wealthy upper-middle class family who suffers from selective mutism. Because of her status, she also doesn’t have the best view from the students at her public school. Contrary to what they might believe, she isn’t really snobby or an a-hole, since that would require her to talk and act, to which she is scared. On the outside she appears calm but slow and will address others mainly through interjections.
She is only able to talk with her parents when she is spoken to. But her parents' high expectations exacerbate her condition, making her feel isolated and trapped. When she does manage to talk, it is usually from not being able to contain her emotions at that moment and blurs out (for example, one time her school’s top basketball player shot a perfect dunk, she blurted out “Hooray!” loudly and everyone heard her). Her anxiety also causes her to attentively overhear others talking and fixate on the talk around her, so you don’t know when she is carefully listening. Both her desire to be heard and her behavior of remaining silent if from where her Stand, Deep Purple, would originate.
Appearance: Deep Purple takes the form of a toy submarine as long as a human arm and with a modified pump jet for the rear propeller that is as big and wide as the Stand’s diameter. It has wave patterns with magenta on the top, purple in the middle, and blue on the bottom. There are light blue bumps on the sides that look like bubbles. It has two torpedo tubes on the front and 4 on the sides. On the front, beneath the two front latches are two yellow bulbs. Deep Purple’s sail has a large front window and atop it is a periscope.
Hush appears as a pair of wireless purple earbuds very similar to Airpods worn on Anya’s ears. Attached to the underside on the earbuds are gray satellite dishes.
Abilities: Deep Purple is a formidable Stand that possesses a variety of sound-based abilities suitable for long-ranged combat and reconnaissance, including powerful artillery, soundwave manipulation, and a sonar.
“Counter Resonance”: Deep Purple can emit an omnidirectional sound pulse from itself, which will travel as far as 30 meters and slowly fade out until it dissipates completely. This pse does not have any destructive power by itself. Any object of Anya’s choosing passed by the sonic pulse will be affected by its ability. The Stand can adjust the volume of the sound that an object emits so that it becomes louder or quieter.
By making it louder, the sound waves produced gain more destructive power and can damage things through acoustic resonance. The higher the object’s volume becomes, the more force the sound waves exert. While Anya can make an object absolutely quiet with one pulse, thus not able to even exert any force even if you smack something with its full force, going louder requires Deep Purple to emit multiple sound pulses. This is similar to how an opera singer can break glass by hitting higher notes, which have a higher frequency that surpasses the glass’ normal frequency.
“Torpedos”: Deep Purple is equipped with torpedoes that it can launch from its tubes. Despite their reduced size they can still be effective for destruction, as they pack powerful sound waves and use the same principle of acoustic resonance in order to damage things; the intensity of the sound waves can be adjusted before launch. Once they’re launched, their sound waves cannot be changed unless they happen to be affected by the sound pulse. The torpedoes can be slightly curved in case they are not aimed right.
『Hush』: Hush is Anya’s Sub-Stand and the sub-ability that assists and completes Deep Purple.
“Synesthesia Sonar”: Hush gives Anya the ability to detect and see the sound waves all around her up to the same range as the main Stand. When in effect, Anya sees the circular reverberations of waves and can deduce what it likely is, from size, position and speed, based on how it looks. A big or heavy object will emit a big sound wave and the speed is known by seeing its Doppler Effect in action.

2023.03.29 06:20 basilnoor 27M - Vision blurry on top half of lens
Sorry if this isn't the right sub for this. I got my new prescription yesterday with new glasses. It's a single prescription lens not progressive. It's been two days but im experiencing a very weird issue. It's hard to explain but if I put my chin down and look through the top half of my glasses its blurry. Noticeably blurry as if the prescription is outdated. Not just text, but even objects slightly. Then as I raise my chin up and look more in the center of the lens its perfect. The bottom of the lens is also perfect. I thought it was just adjustment issues at first but its a noticeable amount and it don't think its just adjustment it feels like either the lens or my prescription is incorrect.
What could be causing the issue? I did notice in my prescription my astigmatism switched from OD being -0.5 to -0.25 and my OS from -0.25 to -0.75. And for reference my OD went from -6 to -5.5 and my OS went from -6 to -5.75 (got better woo). Could the doc have messed something up with the astigmatism? for what its worth in the final test where you look through both eyes my vision was definitely better than with my old prescription. Even now when I look through the center or lower half of the lens its better. Is it a lens issue and i should look to get the glasses checked?

2023.03.29 06:11 TheGoldenWarriors Will there be another team just like the '99 or '00 Blazers?
The 1999 Blazers were an interesting team. They were the 2nd seed and made an appearance to the WCF. They went 35-15, equivalent of 57-25. They were a very deep team. The scoring was very balanced aswell, Their Leading Scorer Isaiah Rider only averaged 13.9 ppg and their 5th leading Scorer was Brian Grant who averaged 11.5 ppg. The Team didn't have any players that were previously All-Stars, although there wasn't the All-Star weekend that season due to the lockout. They finished 8th in Off rating and 6th in Def Rating. They had players like Rider, Damon Stoudemire, Brian Grant, Rasheed, Sabonis and other role players. They didn't have a superstar and yet finished as one of the top teams that season.
The 2000 Blazers was also a Contender just like last season. They went 59-23 and were the 3rd seed. They were better than last season. They were able to reach the WCF and were 1 win away to make the Finals. They had more talent and added former All-Stars like Pippen, Steve Smith and Detlef. They also had Wallace, Stoudemire, Sabonis, Wells, Grant and Greg Anthony.

2023.03.29 06:10 DifficultLife6969 I don't know where the time has gone, I haven't done anything with my life.
I'm 28 and still live with my parents. I don't know where the time has gone.
Growing up I was really quiet and shy and it didn't help that my parents didn't really let me out much after school. It was always straight home to do homework and not get into trouble. Looking back on it I can say that it was pretty poor parenting, or rather parenting that was fueled by inexperience and a fear of me getting into legal trouble or dying.
My dad is very risk averse and while he's made a decent life for himself, that fear of risk has rubbed off on me a shit ton. I'm terrified to make any sort of change in life.
And that brings me to where I am now. 28 and still at home with my parents. I have T1 diabetes and managing it mentally and financially is taking its toll on me. I'm not sure how I can handle the stress of moving out on top of all that. Staying with my parents and working my remote office job is the safe path and that's what I'm most comfortable with. I don't really have friends, I don't party, so the draw of moving out never really affected me growing up. I always kind of thought that I'd move out eventually, something would happen naturally and I would just move out. But that just never happened. Covid hit and the world shut down and it seems that life has just skipped 3 years and here we are. A move that I should have made at 25, is not troubling me at 28.
Maybe living at home is ok. But I just don't know how to be an adult. I wouldn't even know where to start to find an apartment, or where to start looking, or how I'd even know if an apartment location was a good fit. Or how to pay bills, or know what tasks need to be done when I have my own place. My parents aren't wealthy and can't just pay for my first lease like some young adults have, that helps push them out of the nest.

2023.03.29 06:00 InfernoAA Blitz XVIII ~ “The Wager in the Aether” Results
Bumping “Angeles” by Elliott Smith rn. We’re in the Los after all.
FBE World Tag Team Champion Capital STEEZ vs FBE Junior Heavyweight Champion Misery Getting the block hot in the Grand Olympic Auditorium was a true Clash of the Champions, Capital STEEZ and Misery channelling their inner Ricky Steamboat vs Ric Flair as the greatest FBE World Tag Team Champion in history put on an intense fight with the woman rapidly approaching the longest reign as FBE Junior Heavyweight Champion! As seesaw of a battle as you’d ever see, King Capital and the Mis lived up to the hype and more, displaying exactly why they’ve held their respective titles for as long as they have whilst showing off that they can do just as much of a jam-up job under Pure Rules too, two Shining Light League favourites from B and D Block respectively tearing the house down. With the last such potential Semi Final preview seeing Misery’s Death to Juniors stablemate Joshua Epps pick up the win, she was determined to make that 2 for 2. Tangling with an all-time great was no easy feat, but in the end it was indeed Misery picking up her career’s biggest win yet!
Misery (8) def. Capital STEEZ (7)
A Block: Mr. Calcote Miller [2] vs Paddy Murphy [0] Despite carrying the burdens of heartbreak on his back after Michael Kalamity lived up to his surname, cruelly ending the fan-favourite Sham-Rock N’ Scot Connection, a determined Paddy Murphy headed into Blitz tonight looking to complete the Journey To The Centre Of The First Win all the same to kick off a different tournament campaign the right way. Mr. Calcote Miller with the strongest standing of A Block currently, sitting on top with an uncontested 2 points, he had everything to lose here, the pressure on him immense to maintain his standing above the rest. And yet, he appeared to handle it rather well, not cracking despite the climbing temperatures. Unfortunately for him, Murphy’s been starved for too long of his moment, firing on all cylinders here to show he’s not as 2nd Rate as it may have originally been thought, producing an unstoppable performance to lead him to his first win in FBE!
Paddy Murphy [2] (10) def. Mr. Calcote Miller [2] (4)
C Block: Ripley [2] vs Travis Broski [0] Since the final night of the Carnage Tour, the world’s been frothing at the mouth for a chance to see the Ripple in Time and the Undercity Underdog get in there with each other again, their tantalising draw leaving more to be wanted. Lucky for everyone, fate did its job, pairing them up here in the Shining Light League’s C Block for another certified banger no matter how you spin it. Ripley boasting the upper hand with two points to his name thus far, Travis Broski was left fighting from underneath for a chance to redeem his own first night performance, which worked perfectly in his favour, at his best in circumstances like these. That being said, he still had a mountain of a fight to summit, a landslide headed his way courtesy of The RISE member, though Travis managed to pull Ripley in its way instead to kickstart his own comeback in this tournament!
Travis Broski [2] (9) def. Ripley [2] (5)
PROVINCE (FBE Television Champion T.M Imran & Erick Koeman) vs The Ark (Cactus Mike & FBE World Tag Team Champion Code Blue) With a nostalgic episode of Wide World Of Sports preceding tonight’s show, featuring The Ark man himself Code Blue, the excitement for this one was only further launched through the roof, the Pasadena Paralyser set to stand across the ring from his former PRIMETIME partner for the first time since Mayflower Mayhem 2021! At very different points in their respective careers now, T.M Imran running ship with PROVINCE, deep in his second FBE Television Championship reign, Flying Dutchman by his side, and Code Blue… running boat with The Ark, amid the greatest FBE World Tag Team Championship reign in company history, Cactus “Ark Ark Ark” Mike by his side, there wasn’t a shadow of a doubt in anyone’s mind that these lot were at their very best when they tangled under Pure Rules.
Mike soon set to challenge Imran for his title, a big focus was placed on those two as they got familiar with each other’s body of work in order to strategise effectively for the pay day, whilst incorporating sound tag team wrestling on both ends, Blue brandishing his obvious unparalleled experience, and Koeman yet again proving himself to be a valuable glue like he was back in WarGames. Whilst the champion end definitely brought it, it wasn’t to be their night, The Ark gaining the New Hardcore Legend some key momentum!
The Ark (Cactus Mike & Code Blue) (11) def. PROVINCE (T.M Imran & Erick Koeman) (4)
C Block: EED [0] vs Mark Steel [0] Neither of these two men strangers to high-profile tournaments, EED involved in the crowning of the very-first FBE World Heavyweight Champion and the Shining Light League’s own predecessor, the E1 Climax, and Mark Steel a member of last year’s stacked Punish & Crush and Heyman Classic line-ups, they channelled the many lessons they’d picked up along the way here, wrestling efficiently so as to not burn themselves out yet still slamming down on their respective gas pedals enough to drive to victory. EED on the lighter schedule, he was the fresher of the two here, though found himself less conditioned to take shots the way Peak Performance was, steeling his way through the Notorious’s offence to give the OG a surprise. Nevertheless, the most accomplished man in his Block by miles, EED didn’t let it get to him, continuing to push on, though he’d have another thing coming when Mark scored one of the biggest upsets of his career, knocking off the legend to secure two points!
Mark Steel [2] def. EED [0] (NS)
A Block: FBE Pure Champion Dr. Logan Wright [1] vs Arslan Malik [0] With the A Block leader stunned earlier in the night, Dr. Logan Wright was presented with the perfect opportunity to capitalise and launch himself into first place after a gruelling opening match, though Arslan Malik would not make that easy, knowing what beating the FBE Pure Champion would mean for his career, delivering in prime “Ass-Kicker” form. The Doctor got stabby like it were an XPW show, wanting to inject Malik with the right dose to knock him out for the 3-count, whilst Arslan did his best to avoid the needle and score the winning shot of his own, Malik’s blows just as sharp as Logan’s. In a war of two very different forms of sedation, it was the man with the medical license that eventually won out, the FBE Pure Champion remaining afloat as the tides rose him to 3 points and block leader!
Dr. Logan Wright [3] (12) def. Arslan Malik [0] (3)
Non-Title/British Rounds: FBE World Heavyweight Champion Inferno vs Joshua Epps The long-awaited third instalment to the budding saga between Inferno and Joshua Epps came to a head right here in what’s been dubbed “The Wager in the Aether”, FBE World Heavyweight Champion and God’s Greatest Athlete out to prove who the undisputed better man is between them. A traditional 15-minutes on the clock, though split into three 5-minute rounds with a 20 second break between each, Blitz witnessed its first-ever and hopefully far from last British Rounds match in the holy grounds of Rocky Balboa vs Apollo Creed, its two competitors primed to show what pure wrestling is all about.
Epps one of the biggest success stories on Season 2 of Blitz thus far, it was clear just why with him putting on another masterclass on his end, wowing the onlooking judges with a perfect hybrid of catch wrestling and powerhouse bidness that wouldn’t look out of place at all on an episode of World of Sport 6 decades ago. Inferno answered with Marty Jones and Billy Robinson inspired techniques, paying homage to some of the men that’ve influenced his very British style of working, whilst remaining every bit of a cocky bastard as he could be in between, the Gatekeeper of Pure Rules working that mission statement to bring down any new blood that tries to size him up on his domain. Ultimately, three closely-fought, superb rounds resulted in the judges leaning their scorecards in Baba Blitz’s favour, Inferno staying on top of his home turf!
Round One: Inferno (9) def. Joshua Epps (4) Round Two: Inferno (9) def. Joshua Epps (4) Round Three: Inferno (8) def. Joshua Epps (5)
A Block Standings: Place | Competitor | Points | Record |
1 | Dr. Logan Wright (c) | 3 | 1-1-0 |
2 | Paddy Murphy | 2 | 1-0-0 |
2 | Mr. Calcote Miller | 2 | 1-0-1 |
4 | Jay Castle | 1 | 0-1-0 |
5 | Arslan Malik | 0 | 0-0-2 |
C Block Standings: Place | Competitor | Points | Record |
1 | John LaGuardia | 2 | 1-0-0 |
1 | Travis Broski | 2 | 1-0-1 |
1 | Ripley | 2 | 1-0-1 |
1 | Mark Steel | 2 | 1-0-1 |
5 | EED | 0 | 0-0-1 |
Three fabulous nights down, but still many more to go. Interesting results are starting to break through here in the tournament as the last of the competitors begin to assume their spots in their respective Blocks, so stay tuned for next week as we see all 20 wrestlers officially be brought into play! Until then, keep wrestling the good wrestling, and pure rules.

2023.03.29 05:57 StepwiseUndrape574 GTA 6 Minigames: What New Additions Could We See?
There are a lot of possibilities for new minigames in GTA 6, given the creativity and variety that the franchise has demonstrated in the past. Here are some ideas:
Arcade games: Perhaps players could visit arcades in the game world and play classic arcade games like Pac-Man, Space Invaders, or Street Fighter. These could be fully playable games within the game, with leaderboards and prizes for high scores.
Casino games: GTA 5 already had a fully-realized casino, but GTA 6 could expand on this with more games like craps, roulette, or baccarat. These games could be played for in-game currency, with high-stakes games available for the most daring players.
Sports: GTA 5 had a few sports minigames like golf and tennis, but GTA 6 could expand on this with more sports like basketball, baseball, or football. These could be played against other players online, with prizes for the winners.
Board games: Players could visit coffee shops or bars in the game world and play board games like chess, checkers, or backgammon. These games could be fully interactive, with the pieces moving around the board in real-time.
Puzzle games: There are plenty of puzzle games that could be integrated into the world of GTA, like Sudoku, crossword puzzles, or jigsaw puzzles. These could be found in newspapers or magazines within the game world, and completed puzzles could unlock rewards like hidden vehicles or weapons.
Virtual reality games: With the recent release of VR headsets like the Oculus Quest, GTA 6 could incorporate virtual reality minigames like shooting galleries, puzzle rooms, or horror experiences. These would be fully immersive and could provide a break from the main game.
These are just a few ideas for new minigames in GTA 6, but the possibilities are endless. The franchise has always been known for its attention to detail and variety, so players can likely expect a wide range of activities to keep them occupied in the game world.

2023.03.29 05:55 tmu_cs_student The Hazards of TMU's Computer Science Program: Why to Steer Clear
1. Terrible Computer Science co-op program. The co-op department at TMU appears to lack interest in assisting students with securing co-op opportunities, offering minimal guidance on resume writing and job applications. With a fee of $750 per semester, this service falls short of its value, as equivalent information can be easily accessed through numerous online resources. The limited job listings posted on the portal are also unimpressive, with few major companies apart from AMD and IBM.
In my experience, it's much better to search for your own position and save money. This approach allows you to develop valuable skills and even find a job before your peers in the co-op program. Unfortunately, many of my peers in the program seem to believe that simply being accepted is enough. However, they fail to realize that they are just one of many candidates and may not necessarily secure a position.
2. The professors. I know some amazing professors genuinely care about the well-being of the students and want the class to be engaged and learn. These include and are not limited to:
Dr. Yeganeh Bahoo
Dr. Alex Ferworn
Dr. Rick Valenzano
Daniel Franklin
Alex Ufkes and many more!
In contrast, some professors create challenging grading rubrics, unreasonable assignments, and tests that may leave a significant percentage of students feeling overwhelmed and uncertain about their ability to pass the course. While the top-performing students may fare well under such conditions, the majority of students may experience prolonged stress and anxiety.
Furthermore, I'd like to add that about half of the professors I had while studying computer science simply read off the slides without adding any additional value. On top of that, it was not uncommon for them to change the lab requirements right before the submission deadline. Although this may be a common occurrence in other universities, I can confidently say that every semester, you will have at least one bad professor in the computer science department.
3. Course Structures Some courses lack structure and feel like a mere exercise in memorization, with the professor merely reading off slides without conveying any real understanding. CPS 406 is a prime example of this. If the goal is to teach students the fundamentals of engineering, it would be more effective to provide a clear project outline with consistent guidelines, rather than changing them every week. In general, some courses can be disorganized, with TAs and professors appearing uncertain about what they are teaching.
4. Unfair midterms While I must admit that this occurrence is not extremely prevalent, it has become quite noticeable since TMU resumed on-campus classes. It is apparent that certain sections of a course have considerably simpler midterms than others. This creates an unfair advantage for the students in the easier sections, and the professor may utilize this as a justification to fail more students in the following course, thereby maintaining a balance in the number of students passing per semester. In my opinion, this approach is simply illogical.
5. Academic Accommodations Students. If you don't know what that is here is a link that explains it,
https://www.torontomu.ca/accommodations/ Despite the fact that some students in the program may have disabilities such as anxiety and depression, it appears that some TAs and professors exacerbate these students' stress and anxiety levels. For instance, even though the drop date for a course is rapidly approaching, some AAS students have yet to receive their midterms, which account for a significant portion of their grades. When AAS students inquire about their test scores during their lab section, TAs may respond with phrases like "We didn't pick up your tests to mark yet," adding further stress to an already challenging situation. This treatment can be particularly harmful to students who are already struggling with mental health issues.
6. School location Especially since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the safety of TMU's campus has become increasingly questionable. While the university does have security personnel in place, their focus appears to be more on social media trends than on patrolling our campus. It is not unusual to witness drug addicts or other dangerous individuals chasing people down Gould street or shouting at unsuspecting students. My female friends, in particular, always report feeling uneasy both inside and outside of campus premises as they are usually the ones targeted.
