Officials for years have been cleaning up tire after tire from the ocean floor off Broward County-removing what was once meant to create a fish habitat but turned out to be an environmental mess.
A University of Hawaii diver who was involved in the project told the Fort Lauderdale News in 1979 that the tires were sunk in bundles of 10 or 12 and the bands used to hold them were supposed to break after being underwater, allowing the tires to fan out.
Today the path of tires covers about 34 acres of the ocean floor.
"The increase in cost is due to the increased level of effort needed to remove the remaining tires as they are no longer in close proximity to one another so additional time and divers are needed to retrieve the tires," according to a state DEP spokesperson.
How many tires have been removed is still unclear: The state DEP estimates more than 677,000 tires have been removed, although county estimates place that figure at about 439,000 using data from the retrieval company.

So i finally got to see a early screening of The Flash, the big DC reboot thats meant to give the DC film universe a clean slate. Just gonna drop some overall thoughts about it, non-spoiler of course.

So first thing, despite all the marketing might have you to believe, this is NOT a Batman film with the Flash. This is very much Barrys film, and while Bats does play a decent role, he doesn’t really come in until, the Keaton version anyway, until like late mid-way into the film. This is still Barrys show, and he’s the focus.

The CG is a bit of a hit and a miss, and the miss depends on how willing to feel about how stylized and more larger than life the world is. Unlike the MCU, a lot of the world here feels a lot more larger than life, with some areas having an art deco aesthetic, and some being much more comic book like. And this isn’t some extra dimensional world, its the “real” world. So cause of that, while the some of the CG can get wonky, i honestly didn’t mind it, as it felt at place with the world.

The two batmans here are great, with Affleck managing to continue to be the Andrew Garfield of Batmans, as someone who, under better scripts, can easily show themselves as probably the best live action of versions of the character. He manages to bring a pretty somber feel of bruce wayne, sounding genuinely tired, yet not in a way thats feels like he’s here to cash a check. And Keaton, despite what the trailers made it seem, is in full form as both bruce wayne and bats, managing to bring back that manic energy and charm.

Supergirl, played by Sasha Calle, is a nice new edition, feeling like the polar opposite of him, as she very much does not give a fuck about the humans, yet hates zod deeply. And course, we have the violent elephant in the room that is Ezra Miller. And as much as some will not want to hear it, he does a really good job playing both barrys, though the alternate barry can get a little grating at times, even though thats point.

Another major, the pacing for this is fucking BREAKNECK. This films zooms, and honestly while i realized we were at the midway point, i was surprised on how quickly we got there.

Overall, while its not going to set the world on fire and doesn’t even come close to the marks that the recent spider-verse did, its a very fun and charming summer film. It’s similar to no way home in that honestly, being just a fun film on its own.

This is entirely my opinion so if u disagree i do not care. But I think Scoot is the most likely HOFer in this class (due to no player over 7'2 having a 10+ year career not riddled w injuries)
I truly believe scoot is the guy in this class and I would love for Houston to trade up to get him. I'm high on Amen like a lot of rockets fans are but im also aware that i'm high on him due to our situation.
If we landed the 2nd pick i would be ecstatic, but we didnt and we have #4. Amen has potential but scoot has shown an absolute immense amount of nba ready talent. I seriously hope that something happens and we trade up to grab scoot, hes the guy imo and I can't wait to watch his career play out

My girlfriend and I are huge dom fans and we were lucky enough to go to his show in Minnesota last December. (I waited in the Minneapolis cold at like 8:30 AM!) We ended up front row and I even got to meet Dom after and talk for a bit. Best night ever.
That was a great time so naturally we were super excited to see him announce the DSATS tour, and that he would be returning to Minneapolis. However I’m still in high school and I had to take a final during the time of presale. So my girlfriend got ticketmaster and bought two VIP packages for us for $425. She was really nervous and ended up creating her ticketmaster account with an email that wasn’t hers. She forgot two numbers at the end of her email.
We requested an email change from ticketmaster and after a few crappy customer service attempts they said they would get back in a few buisness days. Still after the time they said they would get back they havent. We can’t change the email on ticketmaster because you need to verify with the previous email to do so.
I don’t know what I’m asking for but my girlfriend has been freaking out and upset. I feel guilty and just need help with it. Really hope we don’t get screwed out of 425 bucks. And miss this chance to see dom again.

A bunch of pros showed up tonight at a charity event at The Hub in San Diego.
We had no idea what to expect but did they ever deliver! They put on a great show, especially Riley Newman. It was a 4v4 team format where they played four games in all - a women’s doubles game to 21, a men’s doubles to 21 the two mixed doubles games to 15. All games were rally scoring.
They had fun, didn’t take themselves seriously but also competed. Riley is quite the showman. He played a few points on his knees, hit a bunch of tweeners and generally aimed to entertain.
At the end of the event, I approached him while he ate some tacos and watched some locals play. I said something like “you should try this sport, you look like you could be good at it.” He laughed and responded “I think I might!”. We joked a bit more and my wife then asked him if he was playing in the upcoming event in San Clemente.
He asked us if we were going and we told him that we were considering going on Saturday. He then gave us his email address and said “email me and I’ll get you two free tickets to Saturday.” So I guess we’ll be there this Saturday!
Needless to say we were impressed with all the pros and we’re now even bigger fans of the sport and top players.

Bit of a random post - I just bought a second hand copy of Terminator Resistance from EB Games (Australia's GameStop), and the case they gave me has no cover art.

I've searched online, but can only find the PS4 and PS5 covers.

I’ve had an idea about the flavour of the eventual ally-paired Snarl Land cycle (or whatever it’s called), as well as the set/plane of its introduction. My hypothesis is that they’ll début in the near-certain return trip to Tarkir in the not-too distant future (perhaps as soon as next year), with each land obviously associated with a different brood.
Flavour-wise, I imagine the names and art would represent Tarkir’s dragon tempests, with allusions to the enemy-paired cycle from Strixhaven: School of Mages; thus, each cardname would be structured as “{AdnounX}{AdnounY} Tempest”, while the art depicts a swirling, chaotic vortex of raw elemental energy, perhaps showing the “births” of some of its signature draconic brood.
Not sure if this will be the case, but it’d be cool to see, especially since Tarkir has five ally-paired factions, each led by a Dragonlord, much like the Colleges of Strixhaven and their Founders.

From the Bay, but I live in Tempe, and want to participate in the reverse boycott. Due to life I can't make it to the game in the Town. I go to DBacks games all the time, and they've become my second team and I see a bunch of fans like me every game rocking the A's hat and DBacks shirt. There is a Diamondbacks game on the day of the reverse boycott at 6:40 against Philadelphia. I would really like to go in all A's gear, and hold up some sell the team signs, maybe get some Sell the Team shirts from the 68s. Was trying to gauge interest, because it would be awesome if we could get everyone in the same block to make the biggest impact.

im curious if there’s a reason for ella going on the trip bc it’s such a dumb plot line. i am falling down a rabbit hole… i tried to see if holly was filming something else during season 4 filming time but the closest release to season 4 isn’t really a scripted show but more of a show for fans (off the map with shannen & holly) and i don’t think i’ll be able to find the filming days for that as hard as i’ve tried and really don’t think they filmed a show like that in 2013 to release in 2015 so does anyone know if there was a reason we know of or maybe am i forgetting something important that happens because ella isn’t in town

I was thinking about making a story for super which would be a retelling of Wrath of the dragon. I wanted to incorporate gods and other universes but I wanted to ask for peoples thoughts on it.
I was thinking what if Tapion and his brother Minotia were the supreme Kais of one of the universes that Zeno erased long ago. Hirudegarn could be the god of destruction albeit more animalistic than what a god should be.
I was thinking that Hirudegarn being too savage to be a god would convince zeno fo erase the universe. Tapion would be the grand supreme Kai so he’d have the god connection to Hirudegarn. If Hirudegarn died Tapion would also die so killing Hirudegarn to spare the universe isn’t an option to Minotia.
Maybe Minotia with the help of that universes angel can seal away Tapion and Hirudegarn and send them away to another universe just before their own is erased. In the rush to send them away it gets sent to a random universe (universe 7) and lost for thousands or millions of years.
This is just something I’ve been brainstorming and I don’t have many dragon ball fans as friends to discuss this with so I posted it here. Curious how others would retell Wrath of the Dragon.

Basically title; I get how a lot of the universes wouldn’t have an issue, like how Peter B Parker, Miles, and Gwen are all from universes with very similar art styles, but that isn’t always the case. With the Vulture Gwen fights at the start of the film, for instance, she comments that his wings are made of paper, but he also is drawn with a more sketchy artstyle than her universe which would probably look incredibly strange in the real world, but she doesn’t comment on it. Or Spider-Man Noir, does he really look like a regular person (given the similar art style) but fully monochrome? Or how Spider-Punk has a very early-comics style, including being fully surrounded by a paper silhouette. Etc. Or is the maintained difference in art style just for the audience benefit but to the character they all look like regular people/t. rexes/etc?
