I am looking for a 2-bay USB-Sata dock (with UASP) for 2.5'' SSDs that does not have a power plug. I know that 1-slot adapters like this exist, and given the fact that SSDs draw much less power than HDDs, I am surprised that I can't seem to find any such adapter / docking station at all.
Background info:
I'm in the process of making my own little NAS. I thought about this a lot (including a pre-built synology box, a self-made TrueNAS server, renting a server with lots of storage, ...), and due to current circumstances (2nd child is on the way, we're about to buy a house, ...) I want to keep it simple for the next 5 years. I have a Turris Omnia (OpenWRT router with dual core CPU and 2GB RAM), and I decided to simply slap two drives into it, run an NFS/samba/Nextcloud server there, and call it a day for the next 5 years.

However, I figured that I'm gonna buy two 8TB Samsung 870 QVO instead of HDDs, because they are smaller, silent, need less power, and are generally more useful even after I replace them in my future NAS. The Omnia has two USB 3.0 ports. I want to use one of them for my printer, so I figured, why not connect both 8TB SSDs to the leftover port. There are plenty of cheap USB-Sata-adapters out there, and plenty 3.5'' HDD docking stations with power plugs, but what I want is a 2-bay 2.5'' SSD dock without power plug. And for the life of me, I cannot find a freaking thing that fits this description. Does anybody know a good option that does not create a mess around my router? Thank you very much!

Hi all.
This might seem a bit 'silly' because i'm realising that you can't really understand dementia and how it affects an individual. However, i'm going to ask anyway because I'm looking for some kind of validation.
My Grandma went into a care home last year because I simply could not cope as her full time carer. She has all the symptoms of middle dementia, not sure if it's Alzheimers or vascular. Her answer to every single question is " I don't know". She wanders, she get's 'stuck' for no reason simply walking through a door frame (altered perception?). She can't dress herself, she stopped being able to cook for herself many years ago. She can't leave the house alone. She has a lot of paranoia and can make up absolutely crazy stories about other people. She is a danger to herself. She has a LOT of energy and never ever naps, but also hardly sleeps and can wander in the night. Basically, in my opinion, she needs 24/7 care.
However, there are moments when she acts 'fine'. She'll joke about having dementia, she'll joke that her short term memory's not great. You can have some kind of conversation with her. This happens maybe 20% of the time.
One thing that is constant though, regardless of whether she's having a good day or a bad day, is her obsession with the price of the care home she's in. I must admit, it is expensive, but the price of it is causing her anxiety. She's always telling staff and other residents that she'll be going home soon 'cos once the bill arrives she won't be able to pay for it. And she has to leave her house behind to her family so there's no way she's selling her house to fund her care.
What I don't understand is how can someone literally have absolutely no idea what they ate for lunch 30 seconds after finishing it while the plate is still in front of her, not remember any activities they've done that day even if it involves going out and doing something exciting and memorable, not remember who bought her the flowers in her room that she'd been given an hour prior, yet she knows the exact price of how much that care home costs per month and will tell everyone she talks to on the phone / in person about " how extortionate it is" and how she can't possibly afford to stay there.
What's bothering me I think is that because of this, it makes me question whether she really needs to be there? Is her dementia really that bad? Is she putting it on? It's so confusing for me seeing her so spaced out and confused and claiming she doesn't know who anyone is but then suddenly she's able to start saying how much the care home costs.
I guess I want to be able to understand this more as I carry so much guilt surrounding her being placed in the care home and am still trying to figure out if she really needs to be there...

Hello and welcome to my Ted Talk on why I am so over it when it comes to romance. Sidenote, I'm new to Reddit ad don't really know what to do on here but I'm trying it out to see if anyone has a similar problem as me. This will be a bit long
First, let's talk about books. I have always been an avid book reader. They have always been an escape from me especially growing up in a small rural town where there is nothing to do. When I was a kid I never minded romance or even knew it was there and to be honest it really wasn't in books for kids. I have always thought it was just silly. But as I got older and started to read more mature books it proved DAMN NEAR IMPOSSIBLE to find a young adult book with no love. By love I mean kiss scenes, throwing away the very obvious solution 'in the name of love' and ignoring the original plot for the romantic subplot. I didn't mind it at first but it quickly became a thorn in my side. When I pick up a book I pick it up for the plot and if there is no romance listed in the summary I want to assume that I won't be bombarded by 'love me love me not' scenes that are not only distracted but always so poorly constructed it is an insult to the reader. If it were only a few books I wouldn't have mined but no matter where I go, no matter the genre I read, romance always finds its way there. WHY?? I didn't sit through 200 pages just for a kiss scene and most of the actual problems were left largely unresolved or to be discussed in another book. I love and have always loved reading dystopian books, but why drop everything and mess up plans that have been carefully laid out for years because you heard the supposed love of your life was in the hospital or just randomly appears? I'm reading to see the oppressed rise up and overtake their oppressors. Not watch the girl from her rich family slide her way into the pants of her backstreet saviour.
Second, there are the shows and movies. Granted I don't spend a lot of time online watching movies or even series but it is rare to find a show that doesn't 'peak' when the MC gets puckered up. I swear they could be on the brink of death and they find a way to get on each other.
Recently I've been getting more into Anime and manga but I'm seriously ready to leave just as quickly. Not only is it hard to find anime that respects women and treats them like valued characters that are critical for the plot but a lot of its romance borders on or straight up is SA. The first I realised what anime was was by watching the 7 deadly sins and of course, I noped out of there after the second session of groping as it seemed like it would go on to be a recurring theme throughout the show. For manga, I have become obsessed with isekai and of course, the main theme is romance. If it is targeted for men que the overpowered reincarnated ancient level 9000 demon lord from 1000 years ago. Oh! and don't mind his little harem of led on girls in the back corner. If it i targeted towards women then it is the abused FL that is saved by the black haired northern duke who has an equally shady backstory and is either neglectful, rude, or straight up abusive in many situations. He may or may not be demon and he will fight for the confused and helpless FL who is being swayed by the blond haired crown price and the orange/red haired guild leader. Sometimes a merchant or teacher is thrown in there as well. They all do most of the heavy lifting while all the FL has to do is say a few words to her abusive family and leave with either her choice of man or the entire entourage.
It is infuriating. I want to read these stories to see how modern day people cope and improve worlds that they are not familiar with with their own knowledge. I want to see decent people not look of the problem of slavery in so many books or even try to take advantage of it by getting a new man or body guard. You know damn well you can change something but refuse despite knowing better since you were raised in the modern era. Instead of doing their job as the queen/empress/duchess/crown princess they are set on winning the stone cold heart of an obviously troubled duke. YOU WENT TO FRICKING COLLEGE. YOU KNOW HOW TO BUILD SHIT SO BUILD IT. Help the people you are meant to help. Fuck your sweetheart and all the flowery promises he has to make! You aren't the only person there, he can and will find someone that will love him murderous tendencies and all. I swear I pick up world building manga and they always turn out this way, its so disappointing.
If I wanted romance I literally only have to open any music and songs of sex and love and break up and heart ache and jealousy or WHO CARES THEY ARE ALL ABOUT LOVE. I switched to k-pop to get away from om songs about sex and love and when that proved to be stupid I switched to podcasts!
I can't get away from this damn hyper fixation on romance and love no matter where I go. It is even worse when most of the time all this love is so damn superficial it makes Romeo and Juliet seem like an established and healthy relationship. Honestly, media portrays lust not love. Not that I care I'm just bitter that all of the poorly built romance is shoved down my throat and refuses to leave m gut like a bad milkshake. I've seriously gotten to the point where I make my own stories and read them to myself to prevent tirades of how stupid someone is being because they misunderstood a conversation they eavesdropped on.
Genuinely any recommendations for books and manga that doesn't need the mc picked up by everything on two legs would be great for blood pressure. Does anyone else seem to have this issue?

I have recently entered into my first relationship with a bi girl. Who has been helping me imbrace my feminine side of myself. We have known each other a long time have gotten very confident about my femininity and done things together that I never thought I would.
I always tried to hide my feminine side and be more masculine. I'm naturally very skinny and quite short for a white guy, have always been the shortest weakest and smallest guy on any sport team or in any class growing up usually shorter then most the girls in class too. Locker rooms were a nightmare getting teased for my size This left me feeling inferior to very big masculine men my whole life. I always wanted to be like them but was nothing like them and tried desperately to be more manly.
I'm feeling more and more as our relationship goes on my masculinity gets less, my feminine energy gets stronger my girlfriend doesn't want me to fight it and says she prefers the real me in my feminine energy. I feel torn between fighting my femboy side and just embraceing it.

The increasing price of TRX is a sign for me to increase my TRX holdings. Right now, my plan is to exchange my AVAX for TRON using either HoudiniSwap or UniSwap.
TRX is currently undervalued but is finally gaining the recognition it deserves. What’s great about it is that it’s deflationary and has fast transaction speeds. Also the blockchain is a lot more practical and serves a purpose, with reasonable associated costs. I have had the Samsung M8 since about Jan and had an M7 for a few months before that. I was always impressed how much could be done through 1 port. Usually I would plug in my tablet (tab s8+) or mobile (s23u) to the main usbc port of the monitor. I didnt think it would successfully detect the usbc cable through a hub, only hdmi. However I recently picked up some nreal (xreal now?) AR glasses and the thing is pretty picky with what it uses so I grabbed a OWC TB4 hub. I have had the hub for a bit but only just tried this setup out. Whats nice is a few things:

1. Additional USB-C ports for the M8 - The M lineup (atleast 7 and 8) let you switch what gets to use whatever you have plugged in the 2nd usbc port to either the monitor or the plugged in "main" device, in my case the s8 plus. I have a pair of bt/usbc speakers and I prefer to have them plugged in over bt. The speakers I plug into the monitor can be used by it as the main audio speaker or you can have it set so the S8+ gets the connection. This + usb audio player pro has made a noticeable difference (esp with Tidal) in how I hear my favorite songs.
   
2. Now I can just plug the speakers into the hub and it does the same as before. This will open up the 1 extra USBC port on my monitor. I dont plan on using that port if I have a choice as I had quality issues with the m7 and dont want to keep plugging things in and out on the m8. The monitor arm, the part where the cords go through, was horribkly designed. If you dont leave enough slack, bringing the screen down could completely pull on the actual port. I noticed my dex constantly connects and reconnects. Both mobile and tablet, but more frequent on the tablet. I tried cleaning the port like any here have gotten success with. I even tried to use those magnetic tips stotry and avoid wear n tear on the port. It was a 140w/40gbs right angle usbc magnetic tip. Unfortunately I didnt extract it properly (they get so snug) and damaged the port completely. :( Had extended coverage and got it swapped out. Hopefully using this hub will help out with that. The disconnects have still ocurred, but I noticed if I turn off my tablet display and just use the m8 screen for dex, that it happens like 90% less. I was thinking maybe my disconnect reconnect is due to some power issue. As it is always off/on . I also noticed it never happens on mirror mode, only when using it as an extended screen.
   

Ive been a dex only user for the last 2 years so finding out these little things is so interesting. If you use Dex alot, I cant not reccomend enough (at least checking out) the xreal air. If you use it for screen mode, it just like having a huge dex screen wherever you want. No strain like VR and actually look wearable without really being that noticed. 3D sbs works but even miror screen looks great, especially landscape mode. Also, I was wondering about the following:
-Is usbc superior than hdmi for just video as monitors can have both sometimes?sssss -Is there a big difference in audio quality between bt 5.3 vs directly pluggin in
Any other things like this that others have discovered?

1. It's waaaaaaaaaaay to overpriced. The only "expensive" component would be the display, and even it can't be THAT expensive. It can only go up to 90hz and has a 94° FOV (words of a Valve Index snob) and uses a Micro-OLED display, making It much smaller, and therefor, much cheaper, due to there being less material used. Same with all the other components for the same reason. I would be If it was something like ~400€, but 1300€ for JUST THE HEADSET??? Plus, it's wired.
   
2. It's not compatibile with people under 25 years old. Bigscreen really didn't think about that, did they? This is because it has a set IPD. Most people are born with and IPD of around 51mm and slowly grows to anywere between 59mm and 74mm, with the averege being about 64mm, by the time they enter their 20s. BTW, it's not like they deliberitly chose this, sincer in one of the trailers (I can't find it on YouTube) there is a girl playing with the Beyond. Even for people who ARE above the age of 25, the Bigscreen Beyond is un-shareble, unless the IPD of the person that they want to share it with is the EXACT SAME.
   

I'm not calling out Bigscreen because it affects me specifically. I'm calling them out because these problema, especially the second one, will affect the experience of millions around the world who buy, or more specifically can't buy, this VR headset.
I think that Bigscreen did a very good job with the Beyond, but the need to lower the cost and make an IPD slider, or atleast an in-software IPD slider.
P.S. it doesn't even have a proper strap, so your pretty much paying for the headset.
P.S. #2 They could likely get away with a 1920*1920 per-eye resolution, simply because of how tiny the display is.

I (M30) have been dating this girl (F24) for a month now. We met in dancing classes six months ago. Some context: We both haven’t been in a relationship for 5 years. She didn’t have any action in these 5 years, I occasionally did something not serious but 1 year ago I decided I want to have something serious.
Since I am an extrovert and a guy who cares for his appearance, in social situations, especially dancing, I’m usually popular and have a number of sympathies from the girls. I just go to the parties and have fun, nothing else. This girl decided to go in a different direction and completely ignore me, and in my company she would be really open with the guys, touching, smiling etc but when she would need to dance with me, she would be really serious and showed clear signs of waiting for a switch of the partner. Even though I like her, I interpret this behavior as she doesn't really like me and I continued to dance while expecting nothing.
Months passed, sometimes I saw her at a dance party, sometimes not. She usually showed with some guys from the dance. Usually I didn’t ask her to dance, but sometimes she did (in a cool way not to show sympathies towards me). We started to go home together from classes and started to talk, I kissed her once and we started to go on dates. I haven’t in my whole life met a girl with such a big resistance towards anything romantic. She wants to do it but she analyzes stuff much and her ego is huge. She challenges me a lot. The frame of our conversation is often her vs me. It’s done in a joking way though. Everything she does romantic, must be done in a girly cool way like the times she asked me to a dance.She pays attention to a lot of things being really smooth, sometimes she comments and I’m shocked how she saw that.
She said she is not a very romantic person and it takes her a lot of time to be relaxed. This sentence is the only reason for my post, because otherwise I would let her go.
There are 2 things that hurt me.
We talked about how we won’t yet show in classes that we started to date. 1. thing that hurts me less is that now in dancing classes she has the same ignoring behavior towards me. I told her about this, her response was that she can be open to others because there is no chance that she can be embarrassed and that this was always her problem with the guys she likes. I guess I can live with that for now.

I want to have an active lifestyle with her, she wants with everyone. She talks a lot about how she likes the good energy of people and when she talks with people, the guys usually think of something else but when they want to do something more serious that friendship, she refuses. First time my “energy fell” like she said was when after a date we went to a dancing party and after one guy took her from me she started talking later how he is cool guy and she is thinking on going to the classes where he is the teacher. At that time it hurt that when we were approaching the party she moved a little away from me so that people wouldn't see that we are together. Before that we went out six times in 2 weeks (which is a lot to her). Last weekend she went hiking for a weekend (she got some reward at job) with her male friend and some other guys. She told me how it was cool, the guys are cool and how 2 times she thought about me but didn’t call because she was busy. (What?) She is on a phone when we are on a date and she can't call me for a minute? Now she is at the big dancing weekend party on the seaside with 2 guys and a girl from the class. She never called me also to come even though we all go to the same class! She took vacation (I guess that was scheduled before meeting me) for a whole next week with some guy friend on a seaside. She told me before how she will be busy but next free weekend we can hang out. After she came back from the hike they immediately made a group from whatsapp and she told me “It was so cool! We decided to go again next free weekend!” (Like what about us? I never spend the whole day with her, only dates) She usually talks about how all these guys are cool and friendly and I get triggered a lot hearing this. There was a dancing party the day before hiking where I came an hour after her. We never even met and she just went home and I called her where she was. She was like “I am going home it's too late”. I told her to wait and drove her home, we had a spontaneous date and she said how happy she was that I told her to wait. This girl wants to be chased a lot. I can chase, but guys honestly I don’t have any more fuel. Because I’m investing and she just has fun with everyone. She got under my skin, she now sends me a text once per day with some picture having fun with the guys and I’m on the other side just thinking, hurt. We talked about this and she said multiple times how this is not good, we should be having fun and not talk about this. I also feel how she manipulates the conversation on how I should have more faith and the stuff she doesn't like about me also. I also do stupid stuff but not like this.

I don’t feel anymore like the guy I am on the dancing floor. After I told her how I feel, she sent me a 5 minutes long text of how I misinterpreted and how she likes me etc. I asked her about the relationship, and got a stupid answer of “How can we be in a relationship when we fight all the time and only go out for a month, you are in the 5th level and I am in the 1st.” Last day before going on this long vacation (and then i’m going with work for a week) so we won't be seeing each other for 3 weeks, she texted me “Are you done from work?” I texted half an hour later and she was like “nvm i can't go anymore, i thought you can come to a quick coffee” BUT DUDE YOU CALL ITS THE LAST DAY. I guess she wants me to chase her even there.
I started writing this post at 4 am because I can't really sleep. I am not scared that she will cheat, I just feel dumb how you can prioritize some dude from a dance over me. I don’t. I just don't get it. I let this slide because it is true that we are only dating for a month and I also do needy shit which I don’t want to do but she got under my skin. I asked her “Imagine we are 1 year into a relationship, what would happen with your friends” She said that she would still go out but I would be her priority, of course. I don't have a problem with her hanging out with friends, but not like this. We have dates of a few hours and she goes on the weekends with some “cool guys”. I never saw her flirt with guys, but she is there. We still didn’t have sex and my friend told me that she will change her views after we connect in that area and that she needs time.
Am I overreacting?
How can I ease my mind? I am now with a friend on vacation and I can’t stop thinking about her partying there and how I wasn't invited.
From a girl’s perspective is this normal?
There are options to stop investing in this “relationship” or switch my mindset so I trust more and don’t get emotional.
TL;DR - Girlfriend of one month hasn't been in a relationship for 5 years, shows shyness and resistance towards being romantic, but wants to try it really slow. The problem is that she prioritizes a lot of people to hang out over me, and has a lot of guy friends with whom she goes on weekends to hang out without me. She rarely initiates something and expect me to chase every time. I don’t know if that is a red flag or I should give her more time, but I still feel triggered a lot and I want to ease my mind.

Help the situation is extremely concerning. I have fucked around with drugs too much and I’m eventually finding out.
I’m stuck with an habit of 100mg Baclofen. Everything was going well till I introduced Phenibut in the mix for 2-3 weeks. I have dosed few times 3g few times less and few times more. And now I’m stuck in a glutamate storms whatever I do.
I don’t really know what to do at this point. Sacred shitless to withdraw from both Baclofen and Phenibut at the same time cold Turkey.
I am having so much pain everywhere, my neck is bending almost all the time. Stuck stuck stuck. What is the best way to get rid of this feeling quickly ? Thanks.

I have been thinking about upgrading my current GPU (rtx3070) to a new one. I was thinking at first about rtx 4080, but the price around here is at 1449€ and i would need to upgrade PSU and PC Case too with the GPU most likely too so it would be even more. Both RX 7900XT and rtx 4070 TI are at 950€+- price here. (Currently until end of the month i think, there is even 80€ cashback deal for the RX 7900XT).
I started looking at some cheaper options as rtx 4070ti and RX 7900 XT. I kinda struggle to decide that what would be a better option for me so i would appreciate some input from other people that what you think would be the best choice out of those 3.

Deciding to sell my Macbook and PS5 and confine my work and gaming to a single device instead. Want something that is near top of the line for gaming and decently speedy/longlasting for work (Won't be rendering or anything, but i value speed as the M1 i currently have is amazing)
Few comments:

• I'm undecided on whether dishing out for the 7900XTX or going for an RTX 4070. Don't care for raytracing, but the difference is $500 so i'm trying to work out if i deal with less longevity to save money now, or vice versa.
  
• Would it be worth going for an i7-13700k instead of the i5? Its like $150 more but i'm not too tech savy so not sure if it'd make an impact on my usecase.
  
• Would the built in NR200P CPU cooler suffice or should i swap it out for another?
