2023.06.08 04:20 QTippies My 6 year online friendship with this guy has turned very restrictive and possesive
Hi all, for a bit of background- I(F) have played Minecraft since I was much younger and have never been able to stop because I have such amazing online friends that I have kept and played w/ over the years. I once had a group that I would play w/ everyday and soon that group grew larger because mutual friends were introduced. I got along with all of these new people just fine except for the friend(M) that I'm referring to in this post, lets call him Guy. The only reason I say I didn't get along with him was because he was always a bit shy and quiet in comparison so I thought that the others were fine with being his closer friend so I didn't care much. As the years went by, this group has gradually all gotten off of MC and don't play anymore. I never truly cared bcuz I understand that we all have busy lives and friendships may dissipate but I know that I can always talk to them whenever I'd like and I have all those lovely memories w/ them.
Guy on the other hand seems to find that natural concept very hard to understand or get used to. I think that this is bcuz we had a friend abruptly leave and block us all like 4 years ago- I knew the reason tho (they had strict parents and it was obviously abt focusing on school/graduation/college) 2 of my friends were very hurt by this, tbh I was sad at first but this seemed to affect them much worse and for much much longer than I. Eventually this friend came back and we were all excited except for Guy, he went bonkers for some reason and it took him a bit to calm down. I don't rlly remember why he was upset but it's one of the things I find weird abt him. Even tho that friend came back, we didn't play with them much anymore and by this time it was only me, Guy, and another friend(F) who would play together- the rest left. Slowly but surely my other female friend stopped playing and work caught up to her so somehow- me and Guy went from not talking much at all to continuing to play MC and talk a lot together.
About a year or so went by where it was just me and Guy tryharding our booties off on MC servers and having fun climbing the leaderboards. Finally, some of our old friends came back at random to catch up and play our favorite games like old times- i was so excited and happy to be in their presence again. Guy's response tho? -awkwardly go silent in calls and treat these ppl who were once his close friends as strangers. He would be passive aggressive towards them or just ignore them and such. He would also start doing this if we started playing with random ppl that I met and introduced him to, it just felt like he hated the idea of "sharing" me. I got very very annoyed by this right off the bat and soon it started affecting my friendships with other people- they'd try to talk to Guy through me and figure out why he hated them all of the sudden. He'd give me some bare ass response to give to them and they weren't taking it (for obvious and valid reasons), an example of his response would just be "I don't hate them" but uknow- his actions wouldn't reflect that. So this all got very awkward for me to deal with and I snapped at him awhile back, I blocked him for a few weeks cuz he said something so audacious, selfish and controlling. My marbles? Lost.
I wasn't ready to give up MC tho and it's hard to find new friends in MC so I got rlly depressed and lonely- playing solo isn't rlly an option in my head cuz I just don't find that fun at all. So I unblocked him and gave him my rant abt why he angered me- I basically said that he was being way too controlling/ possessive/ and that I was going to play with the friends that I wanted to play with>>also called him ridiculous for being rude to the ppl that were once his friend too and how it was dum of him to act like they were only my friends that I was JUST introducing him to. They haven't done anything to him and they didn't deserve this cruel and unusual treatment. He apologized (but didn't say sorry to any of them) -and since we weren't regularly playing with these ppl and they still had busy lives, I kept playing MC with him alone. What got me tho, was that his apology seemed genuine and well thought-out but when we played with people again he treated them the same- this time I just ignored his attitude and continued to have fun with others
I came to find- that on a day that I had told everyone I would be free all day- everyone was playing together all happy in a call including Guy. I was so confused and upset- it felt like I was being intentionally left out but mainly by him. I would always msg him telling him that I was online w/ our friends if he wanted to join us on whatever game we were playing, he would always say no or give some dry excuse not to play but I knew the real reason. The fact that he intentionally left me in the dark so that he could play with them was such a slap in the face- especially bcuz of the fact that I had told him I experienced something like this b4 in highschool. I truly don't understand this behavior from him, I left for the day and took some time to try and relax and think. I can't remember his excuse for this but obviously it was a lame one and I have held a grudge for that. I have also caught him in calls with old or new friends that I've made where he would be talking perfectly fine- he's even gotten in calls with and has played games with my irl friend(F) several times perfectly fine- but as soon as I join the call he immediately seems to get jealous and go silent
It's been awhile since I've played regularly with other ppl aside from him now and he still seems to have trouble accepting the fact that I'm my own fkn person and not his property just cuz we're "best friends". I started to join the public vc on a small group discord server w/ close and mutual friends so that I can talk to others and actually socialize for once. I have told him this today and he all of the sudden has a problem with it(after getting a bit better at being nicer to others) and I can tell that he isn't communicating to me what he actually wants to say. I've been feeling extremely socially starved because of his treatment for years now and just want a real connection with my old friends back, and to make connections with new ones too. I don't want to feel left out by my other friends anymore bcuz they "know i'd 'rather' be playing with Guy" I've always rather caught up w/ and played with them- I love gaming in large groups and being a duo pair for so long has made me so sad, especially after this weird outta pocket treatment.
I don't really want to say goodbye to this friend bcuz he is a good friend to me personally and he used to get along with our other friends too- it's just that I don't know what changed abt him or why he's so possessive. I have some anxiety and trust issues w/ other friends now bcuz of countless bad experiences and what he did to me but I really want to try to talk to others again and gain back that confidence and trust. If this is some type of mental disorder (the way he's acting) please let me know so that I can read up on it. I don't know what else to do and I hate feeling like I'm constantly walking on egg shells around other ppl in front of him- I heavily used to be a ppl pleaser and I feel like im falling back in to old tendencies and I hate that. I hope to hear your honest opinions :)

2023.06.08 02:39 bvanevery invaded Altaria turn 32
I've given up on the civilian game. The micromanagement is unplayable. GC3 might end up being like Emperor of the Fading Suns, something I've never finished a game of. The last game I played, where I was doing fine, and clearly would win eventually, I quit at 20 hours. Just too godawful tedious to administrate all those worlds flipping to me.
I intensely dislike the gold giveaway that is the Korath and Drengin, but there's nothing really left for me to do. High profit invasion is the only way I'm going to be able to stand to finish the game. If then. My reward for early conquest may be yet again, too many planets to administer. I'm hoping that the Korath's Spore Launcher solves that problem. In other games, like Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri, wiping out distant bases definitely makes the game a lot more playable.
I didn't want to kill the hot lady I'm getting serious Planet of the Apes vibes on this one, lusting after the humanoids. What I actually do when I land on the planets, is left to the imagination.
I actually did not take the transports Ideology as quickly as I could have. My first 2 neighbors were the Terrans and the Iridium Corporation. Both declared their neutrality for 50 turns, requiring me to find some other victim. So I signed Open Borders with them, figuring once they're available, it will have expired. Other races were relatively far away, so I had to keep expanding my search and colonization perimeter, until I met some possibilities.
The Arceans and the Drengin were the other near neighbors. I signed Open Borders with the Drengin, since dealing with them last generally makes sense. In a previous game I totally slaughtered the Krynn right next to me though. They were muscling in on "my" planets too fast. Quit that one because I didn't like how my initial transport offensive went, and I also got 1 of 'em killed for no particularly good reason. Anyways the Arceans, I figured they might pull the same neutrality stunt, and a Benevolent is a more obvious victim. The Iconians are also nearby and can be next.
I waited until all 3 transports were in position around different star systems before striking. If the AI had a brain, they should have known what's up, due to the several turns I spent hovering. There's a pirate shipyard near that 1st planet I took. There is some risk of them completing a ship and shooting down the transport. I'm trying to move out of the way before that happens.
I don't have any military ships other than the Ideology warship and another free ship I picked up from an event. I'm nevertheless ranked militarily #1. I have my free Fleet Commander with them, to get them moving faster and fighting better. I've only just begun to research the military techs. Previous experience is you don't need anything other than the warship, to walk over planets at the beginning. And so far, I haven't needed that yet.
I've got a fairly good long range Scout screen though, to try to keep any surprises from taking out my transports. Those Scouts are based upon a Constructor platform, since that's the earliest available big cargo ship. I've also got an Architect moving forwards with my forces, and will complete a hyperlane in the next few turns. That will allow me to reinforce once I've got tiny ships cranking out. Seems likely the Altarians will be dead before then, but who knows. Best come loaded for bear.
4 invasions jacked my credits from 2k to 11k. Then I spent 9k of it, getting some very basic facilities done everywhere. Most places are now working on Upgraded Colony Capitols.
it's a small world after all I've run out of places to build anything useful on my homeworld. Just finished Tyron's Destiny. It wastes a space but hey, I did need the population, and probably also some Growth. It does make sense to have it sitting next to the Monsantium, to pick up that bonus. I'm going to build the Kimberley's Refuge next to it, but I need terraforming. Whole planet needs terraforming. It's seriously cramped compared to Altarian stuff.
At least I don't really need things like the Strategic Command or Antimatter Power Plant at the beginning, because the Korath come with the Temple of Despair right out of the box. I don't even have room for the Eulogy of the Fallen right now. I'd like to put it on some planet with more room, but so far, I've been putting Cities on those. I figure at some point it'll fit somewhere. Right now, just blasting out the basic Work Camp, Space Elevator, and Starport everywhere is more important.
Hope this game doesn't end up being super tedious like all the rest. 3 hours 40 minutes so far.

2023.06.08 00:57 Csczero Ex keeps giving me mix signals
My ex gf and I broke up about 1.5 months ago. She told me we might be able to maintain contact, even though she normally doesn't with her past ex. I end up reaching out too early in our breakup so she asked for space and we went no contact for about 3 weeks. She reached out about some of her belongings and mentioned we can talk. At the time she was going through family troubles, so she blew up and I end up taking the heat and she told me she doesn't want to talk to me. She went as far as to blocking my phone number. At that point, I thought it was over for good. Final closure.
Kicker. She unblocks me the next week and apologizes to me and explains to me what was going on in her life. In the same text, she tells me she wants to talk but to give her some time to deal with what's going on.
A week goes by (no contact)and I go to check in to see where things stand. I get yelled at and got told she doesn't want to talk to me. We ended the conversation. Her last response was we can talk after she returns from a trip which is in 1.5 weeks.
Am I going crazy or are these mix signals mentally draining? One week she wants to talk, next week I'm getting yelled at and being told she doesn't want to talk. This hot and cold game is just draining. I'm at the point where I should just wait the 1.5 weeks and see what happens or just walk away from everything.

2023.06.07 23:34 robertojh_200 Yet Another Spawn of Oggdo Rant
Turns out I'm not alone in hating this boss, but I have my own frustrations to vent as a long time Souls player. I've beaten both Bloodborne and the first Dark Souls 100% deathless, I know the ins and outs of how these games are supposed to work, and SOO breaks every rule.
The thing literally everyone gets wrong about Souls games, and the reason why only FROM has been ever able to truly recapture that feeling again and again, is that Souls games are not action games. They're rhythm games, specifically dance games set to a usually waltz-like cadence, and bosses that break this cadence, like the Dancer in Dark Souls III, tend to throw people off because the rhythm they've unconsciously grown accustomed too changes. There is still a rhythm, mind you, but it's just a different one, and identifying the cadence that the boss sets and matching its dance moves is the key to identifying when you can attack, and when you should dodge. Everyone who attempts to emulate the Souls formula misses this extremely crucial aspect of its enemy design, and more often then not the result is a combat system that feels limp and inconsistent.
SOO feels like a boss designed for a different combat system entirely. Without practically any recovery on any of his attacks, he can just smother you with a flurry of one shot hits while you are forced to recover on hits. SOO, then, literally isn't designed for this kind of game, and is the clearest example in my mind of devs missing the point of Souls-like enemy design. It isn't enough to make a combat system wherein you have to commit to attack animations; you need enemies that also have to commit so it feels like both you and the enemy are playing within the same rules. SOO doesn't feel like it has to commit to anything, and as such has no openings it can exploit, no rhythm to learn. As soon as one attack is done, the only thing allowing you to do a punish is if the SOO let's you hit it. Otherwise, while you wind up for an attack animation you're completely committed too, he's already biting you again in a different attack set.
Bloodborne and other souls games use very precise, very consistent animations to relay when you can dodge, and when you can't. Both Jedi games are overly flashy in their animations, and so I can never quite tell when I can dodge; sometimes it feels like I can attack cancel and just dodge midswing. Other times, it arbitrarily forces me to complete the animation straight into a standstill before it lets me dodge. And the way this boss in particular tracks you, it becomes borderline impossible to identify proper dodge windows against your own movements, and set a pace. I did see someone suggest jumping, but when I jump his unblockable and undodgable lunge attack, by the time I land, he's already attacking again. There is simply no window of opportunity in which to hit him that is safe; the only hits I've ever landed came down to his AI deciding not to attack for two seconds. Which means if I ever do actually beat him, it will feel to me more like the AI let me win rather than due to me learning his moves. I know his moves, there is just no safe way to exploit his moves.
I'm not sure who playtested this boss, but I think it's weird that in a game with Darkside users in it, a fucking frog is the cause of the most player deaths in the game.

2023.06.07 17:19 eustacethemad After I created my character, game crashed in loading screen
As the title says, I started a new campaign after I downloaded some mods. I finished my character, in the loading screen, just as it was about to load the tutorial missions the game crashed.

/Twittecomments/143a2nq/private_user_tweeting_me_from_behind_their_own/ Title: Private User Tweeting @ Me From Behind Their Own Block
Body:
A user who has me blocked and their account set to Private is going through all of my tweets and replies, unblocking me, replying and then reblocking me leaving tons of “invisible” spam all over my account. This user is then accusing me of harassing them because I’m replying to my own Tweets addressing them. I just don’t get it. I think they’re going through their own mental health journey and quite frankly I wish them all the luck in the world but how would one remedy this situation? Ideally just scrubbing every trace they’re leaving associated with my account and hoping they go away…Any ideas? Any way we could get a feature to delete unwanted replies from accounts that are set to Private and have you blocked? It’s really just super silly internet ego games on their part and only mildly annoying from my perspective. I just don’t understand how a person could feel victimized when they’re circumventing their own block to interact with someone they don’t want to interact with. Thanks!

2023.06.07 14:01 DowntownReading9371 Did I [27F] act like a stalker [26M]?
I like to think I am kind of level-headed and laid back, but I do struggle with anxiety which sometimes makes me feel like a different person. I am very conscious of coming across as crazy and recently I have a lot of doubts about my actions.
I was dating a guy for 2 months (he just got out of a very long term relationship with ended with cheating - so i did have some hesitations, but he kept assuring me he had worked on it and his trust was fine.). I was very clear that I was looking for something serious and we talked about not dating other people and removing dating apps. All of a sudden he became distant (or that's how it felt too me) and I got a lot of excuses for not texting back or dates being changed last minute to less time or a different time. He started a new job and it got even worse. I tried to talk to him about it and I repeated I was looking for something serious and that to me meant investing time in each other. He started talking about having doubts and not having time. To which I said I was kind of surprised as we did kind of already talk about future plans and I thought everything was going good. In the end I told him I can't really change how he feels and I can just be open, honest and myself. I asked him what he wanted to do. Not talk anymore, not meet. I told him I would want to take a step back, because this was not a nice place to be in. He said the same but kept saying things like I am not going anywhere, I would want to see where this goes after he has more time. Stuff like that. I asked him if he was sure about that or just saying it not to hurt him and he again said he was. I sent him a text after a couple of days, just wishing him luck on something and he responded and asked some questions. I answered, but he i kept feeling ignored constantly. It was confusing as he asked questions, but would then ignore me. I had just texted I thought it was better to just not talk anymore until he had time, but then I found he had updated one of his dating apps after we agreed to delete them. I was very pissed and sent him a text saying as much, telling him I didn't understand what was happening. This is when he said we should go our seperate ways and that he should have communicated better, that i didn't deserve this and all stuff like that. I was very mad and said I did indeed not deserve this but I still got shit on.
After a week or so I calmed down and wanted to close this in a better way and texted him as much. He apologized again and I said I was happy to have texted him and to let me know if he ever wanted to meet.
This is were I think I went wrong: a week later I noticed he deleted me from an app, and i asked him if something was wrong, because I thought we were good. I really thought we could maybe be friends as I still cared about him as a person otherwise I wouldn't have invested so much time into him. He gave an explanation that he deleted everyone, trouble with the app. I made a joke, everything was good I thought. About 3 or 4 days later I texted him something relating to a game he introduced me too and he didn't respond for 4 days. I will admit I was still very hurt about stuff and being ignored just felt awful, so I decided to delete the message. Afterwards I saw he blocked me. I kind of feel like shit, I don't know if I did indeed go to far with something.
Just to be clear I don't want to talk to him or see him anymore. I don't want to be friends or date him. I still feel somewhat hurt about being lied to and dumped in the way he did it, but it's just not meant to be. And being blocked is a very clear message that he doesn't want to do anything with me. So my question isn't how can i make him unblock me, that's his choice and he can make that. My question is 'Should I have done something different? Did I go too far or act stalkerish? I would hate to make anyone feel that they have to block me because they are scared of me? I always try to take other people's thoughts and feelings in consideration, but I really didn't think we were good. But maybe I went too far or didn't take hints? If he would have said he thought it was better we didn't talk anymore, I would have obviously not texted him anymore. But I guess I thought we were fine. I feel like an awful person after he blocked me, and I don't know if maybe I am just acting entitled or wrong towards people.
I have never been blocked before and I have never made -I think- anyone feel uncomfortable. But maybe I have and I just haven't noticed? I really don't want to be a person like that, so I am looking for outside perspectives. I tried to be as specific as possible.
TLDR; Do I act in a way that makes people uncomfortable, am I just not seeing what I did wrong?

It’s really just super silly internet ego games for n their part and only mildly annoying from my perspective. I just don’t understand how a person could feel victimized when they’re circumventing their own block to interact with someone they don’t want to interact with. Thanks!

2023.06.07 04:28 xxvamprxx should I leave my bf
so my boyfriend and I have been dating for 7 months but we have been a thing for over a year and have known eachother for 6+ years. theres a problem that keeps arising but there has been many. first of all, he has loved me for years and treats me pretty well and I love him more than anything. but since the beginning of our relationship hes been getting off to pics/videos of other women. I told him to not do it anymore about 4 times before he said he stopped for good and I mostly believe him? it's just been so many times I dont know how to anymore. the last time was mid March. he used Twitter, instagram, tiktok and I found out today, reddit. it made me very insecure and my ex would do it too and did the same thing where I told him it made me sad and he said he would stop but didnt multiple times. I also found out he talked bad about me to a girl he used to talk to when we first started dating, he has lied to me about like everything, he unblocked and texted this girl that I was uncomfortable with because he was mad at me. theres a couple more things but yea. so today I saw the subreddits of alt girls he was getting off to. sometimes it was just a girls face bro. and I'm also like "alt" and have always been so I'm scared he just likes me for a fetish thing. I also saw pron reddits of this video game he likes. he also got off to pron of an anime that he showed me and we watched together. it just seems like he gets himself off to anything and everything but me. on every app. and of every show and game he plays, he finds pron of. I just dont know if I can stay with him. it's never gonna end and I cant handle it. I dont feel like he finds me attractive and I feel like he might have a pron issue. and I cant trust him anymore or anything he says because of the past. well not really the past this has been ongoing since I can remember. anyway, what should I do. I really love him but I dont know if I can handle this anymore

2023.06.07 04:26 jpschack Early laning as pos5
I have several questions as to how to optimize my laning as pos5.
I play mainly pos5 at about 3k mmr and mostly heroes like oracle, jakiro, lich.
I always block the big camp with sentrie from the start.
Recently I just have been asking myself when I should be unblocking the small camp. Right now I would most of the time wait until after min1 and then unblock it if it’s blocked. I felt like otherwise the pos4 could just block the camp with a sentrie in between min0-1 and deward my sentrie. On the other hand if I wait until min1 and it is blocked I can’t stack it at min2 to stack-pull later.
Another big thing I try to work out is to when to find time to be ready to pick up the lotus at min3/6.
My positioning in lane is mostly to the side of the camps, so the opposite side of the lotus pool. Sometimes I am also busy right before min3 to stack the small camp for pull so it’s difficult to be ready at min3 to pick up the lotus. In past games I had it quite often that the offlane just ran 2-3 seconds before I had a chance to the lotus pool and grabbed it. Is it worth to maybe push the lane a bit right before so that I am in a better position to get to the lotus pool?
Thanks for any tips or advice.
