2023.03.29 05:27 Authority111 Why is there no love for Labrador?

I've been researching and studying North American geography for quite a while now and in my honest opinion, Labrador has to be not only the most underrated region in Canada but the most underrated region in the whole continent. I say "region" cause the place isn't even its own province, it's united into one with Newfoundland. The region is home to beautiful rugged wilderness that I would say despite never going there, look almost identical to those of Alaska, and probably some of the most breathtaking fjords in all of North America. Of course, there's then the Torngat Mountains at the Northern Tip, which are said to be one of the oldest mountain ranges on the whole planet, and probably the most well-known feature of the region. However, it sees a mere 600 annual visitors and didn't even become a national park until 2008. Then there's the massive and picturesque Churchill Falls in the eastern portion that pours into the Smallwood Reservoir, which is the second largest of its kind in the world. Churchill Falls isn't a Canadian national park, however. Despite being further south than Nunavut and more fertile, it has 11,000 fewer people living there. Most people probably have no idea such a place even exists, with the dog named after it being likely what 99% of people think of when they hear "Labrador." You would think there'd be more attention towards it since it's the homeland of the number one dog breed in the world, but that's not the case. This was proven by my attempts to search online for info about the region having to be very specific, or else I would get results about the dog breed. Feel free to take anything I say with a grain of salt since as I mentioned earlier, I have never been there. But overall, I find this region in Canada to be fascinating, while also quite sad since it's so unknown. (Labradorite is also one of my favorite stones BTW.)
So what gives? Why is it so unknown and have any of y'all ever been there or even live there?

TL;DR: Labrador is in my opinion the most underrated and beautiful part of Canada, and probably in the entire continent of North America, and I find it odd how underpopulated and unknown the region is to most people.

2023.03.29 05:27 throhaway333 Three unexplained knocks on my cars back window

My dad and I just got back from picking up food from red lobster. I stayed in the car while he went to go get our food, and after a few minutes I heard three sudden, loud knocks from the back of our car. It scared the shit out of me, I looked back and around the car, and there was no one there. The way the car was parked (and the way the red lobster was laid out) the back of our car was a grass strip from the interstate, and there was no one around the car. It's currently night, and it was night when this happened, but the parking lot was lit enough to where I'd be able to see if someone was around to do that, and there wasn't. I wasn't gonna post this but I just happened to put on Ghost Adventures and the guys experienced three knocks and said it was an insult to the trinity or something..? So I'm just wondering what to make of this experience

2023.03.29 05:26 EmuCommander1932 What if John Wick is Neo lol hear me out ..

Just finished watching JW 1-3. Here me out… what if John Wick is Neo but Instead of being red pilled out of the Matrix. He is instead activated by the Matrix. The Matrix uses him similar to Agent Smith to delete unwanted programs. Theres a lot of parallels, black dress, the reliance on phones, Morpheus, even the way regular people act in this world. It explains why he is able to have public shoot outs and drop bodies in broad daylight and crowded areas, and every single person seems blind to it, because the matrix allows him too. The Managers at the Continental are also programs, and what if that’s how Winston stopped an entire park of people at the end of JW2 (he’s on the phone to do this) Just a wild theory but if you watch the movies through this perspective.. it’s kinda fun.

2023.03.29 05:23 Bumblebee_floofs Paranormal hunting

So one night me and my aunt decided to go to a park next to a field. We looked around and we saw a black shadowed figure just standing in the field. I looked next to my aunt and the swing started spinning like crazy. We looked at the slide and there was blood all over the playground so we ran back home. BASED ON A TRUE STORY

2023.03.29 05:23 Fair-Spread-9360 have scientologists actually not heard about south park?

during my time in scientology, i mentioned to at least 3 or 4 people that i might have first heard about scientology on south park (when asked how i’d heard about scientology). they all indicated they had never heard of it.
were they being legit? do people in scientology pretend not to know things?

2023.03.29 05:22 pulsating-fork first decent day

just wanted to air out something more positive! today i went to work for the first time in over a month since a very traumatic incident. two weeks ago i also tested positive for COVID which was really difficult. both of those things combined made me housebound again. but today i went to work remotely and talked to my boss about decreasing my hours so i can focus on actually completing the semester. afterwards I went for a drive and ordered food— my first time out alone in a while. then stopped at a park and ate. it was nice.

2023.03.29 05:17 Remnas21 My dream JWE2 Update/expansion

As the title says this is kinda my dream update would be that they add baby dinosaurs and a growth cycle, I’m not a game designer or coding expert but just from my perspective they’ve demonstrated the ability to model detailed and absolutely tiny dinosaurs. With the addition of the massive rectangular maps of plus baby Dino’s I’d love to have the ability to build a nature reserve/national park style build with no walls except those that separate the Dino’s from the guests to create a kind of “natural environment” using the new viewing galleries, as well as truck tours and gyros to allow guests to experience dinosaurs in their natural habitat, and the entirety of the circle of life (if carnivores aren’t already able to I’d love for them to be able to feed on other dinosaurs after they kill them) and the park would have carnivores and herbivores living in the same habitat, with oviraptors being able to scavenge/steal Dino eggs from their nests. And then have like a story expansion where the point of the expansion is to make a nature reserve and manage things to get a functioning dinosaur ecosystem that you then bring guests to interact with. That’s my dream… whether or not something like that is ever a reality remains to be seen. (Sorry if this is kinda rambly I hope I got my point across lol)

2023.03.29 05:12 Impossible_Look2867 Strangulation nightmare that felt very different and very very sinister

I usually don't sleep early because I have a flexible, work-from-home job. Today, I slept at 12:30 am, one of the earliest times I've slept this year.
I had this weird dream that took me back to my elementary school location. My friends and I were going to be late as this was our last day of school and we were going to have a small bash. So, I called my mum and told her I'll sleep at my best friend's home, which wasn't far from school.
The party lasted until late at night. However, I never went to my bestie's home for some reason. Instead, I got to the nearest bus station (1.4km from school) to catch a bus home.
When I got to the bus stop, two minibusses were parked close to each other. One had no one inside, while the other had two people seated at the front.
At this point, there was some heavy rainfall but no winds. Despite it being pitch dark, I could still clearly see one giant tree at the bottom of the wooded valley, situated right next to the road (This location was in a rainforest).
I could hear the two guys talking about seeing a third haunted bus, much larger than the two at the bus stop. I even saw them pointing right ahead to where the bus was supposed to be, but I couldn't make out anything. They said some dark figure was sitting in this ghost bus, not at the wheel, but somewhere in the middle.
Despite being empty, I decided not to get in any of the two minibusses. Instead, I went to sleep by the roadside (It was still raining heavily). While my head was planted by the roadside, the rest of my body was levitating above the valley.
Then I felt a presence on my neck. I could only see some faceless fog. I have had strangulation dreams before, but they all had someone I could see. This one was so different. I couldn't see anything, yet I felt this presence and my neck getting strangled.
I tried pulling the presence of me, but all I could manage was to keep their strangling force the same. I was somewhat not dreaming at this point. I could feel my bed and believe I was awake, but unable to move or open my eyes.
Then I thought if I were to embrace the suffocation and pull this figure toward me, it would pass, and I could move. However, it felt worse. I was barely able to breathe. The more I pulled this presence toward me, the more suffocated I felt and the closer I felt to dying.
I am not a believer, let alone a Christian. But my mother (single mum) goes to church every Sunday. Even my dad, whom I barely talk to, is the choirmaster at his church.
I felt my life presence dwindling. I have been suicidal for a while, but I never wanted to die in such a terrifying way. As a last resort, I decided to pray for forgiveness from God, even though I don't believe in a divine purpose for humans and life after death.
That's when I felt I could move and pushed the presence off me. It was still dark outside. It felt like I had been sleeping for hours.
Sleep wasn't coming, maybe because I was too scared to go back. So, after 20 or so minutes of lying there drenched in sweat, I decided to wake up and watch a movie. Looking at the time, it was only 2:43 am. I had barely slept for two hours, yet I felt I had an entire six or more hours.
Has anyone had a similar experience? I'll also appreciate any dream interpretations and plausible explanations.

2023.03.29 05:09 bloodlesslkj help me decide on Top Fuel or Slash

At the moment Im riding giant Fathom 1, its great HT but now i am looking to buy a FS. I wanted to buy Fuel EX but no stock in my country and dont know when it will be available in store. So there is no Bike park here but massive hills, on average 800-1000m climb and non existing shuttle service. I dont care for the fastest timing just enjoy riding once or twice a week. Normally my ride is around 50 KM. And im not keeping the HT. Any body who has been to Kathmandu should have an idea the terrain im in.

2023.03.29 05:07 LilNinjaBitch Trying to find peace

Apologies if this upsets anyone. Linkin Park has been an important part of my life, and the thought that I'll never be able to see them perform live again is disheartening. Although Chester's passing was some time ago now, I still find it difficult to come to terms with the fact that I'll never have the opportunity to see my favorite band. Despite attending many concerts, when I return home, my mind always wanders to Linkin Park, and I find myself wishing that Chester were still with us. I was fortunate enough to attend Mike Shinoda's Post Traumatic tour, and even though I cried when he played "In the End", I still miss Chester, and it can be overwhelming at times.
