2023.06.08 07:46 devinsaurus My Thoughts on Agrust's recent To Your Eternity fan artwork: AU when Parona travels with Fushi

Twitter/Tumblr artist Agrust recently shared her latest Yoshitoki Ōima's To Your Eternity fan artwork of an AU when Parona decides to travel with Fushi, one of my favorites among her TYE fan artworks. This AU is really something...and very heartwarming too (I'm actually in love with this AU pic!), seeing one of my best TYE girls traveling with Fushi. Things would've been different but better if Oima should've gone with that for the storyline. Considering Pioran was Fushi's main teacher and guide, I wonder where Parona would have fit in all of it in this AU. My guess is that her role would be the same as Pioran's. Parona could teach Fushi survival tactics, like archery, and how to fight back. Pioran's role is more that of a teacher of the intellectual and spiritual way. She taught Fushi to speak, read and write. Parona, like all the people of Ninnanah, doesn't have writing and reading skills, so Pioran could teach them both. Here are my thoughts on how this AU plays out differently from Oima's original TYE content:
After March's death, Parona decides to leave her homeland of Ninnanah and travel with Fushi, knowing that "certain heartless woman" of Yanome is aftering him, as her way to protect him. During their travels together, they reunited with Pioran who taught both of them how to write and read while Parona herself taught Fushi archery and survival skills, like combat. Ever since seeing Fushi in March's form, Parona began to learn more about Fushi's immortal properties. While heading for Takunaha, they meet the first Nokker for the first time with Fushi defeating it. After reaching Takunaha, Fushi and Parona meets a boy named Gugu, who was disfigured in an accident after saving Rean. Gugu and Parona save Fushi from another Nokker, and Fushi, Parona, Gugu, and Rean become friends. For four years, Fushi refrains from transforming or creating objects in order to live as a human and Parona would've been 19 years old. A Nokker attack and Gugu was killed in the process while sacrificing himself to save Rean, who becomes a spirit like March. Fushi and Parona leave Takunaha, the former paranoid of Nokker attacks, followed by Pioran.
The trio continues their travels which leads them to the prison island of Jananda, which is actually the work of the now obsessed Hayase who pays a young girl named Tonari Dalton to lure the trio onto a prison ship to the island, where Fushi and Parona got separated from Pioran, meeting Tonari and her friends Sandel, Mia, Uroy, and Oopa for the first time, and encounters their old enemy Hayase once again. Parona and with the help of Tonari and her friends come to try and save the defeated Fushi from Hayase who was attempts to rape him, but at the same time, Nokkers attack the island, and three of Tonari's friends are killed. Fushi kills the Nokkers, and he leave the island with Hayase, abandoning her to die in the ocean, where she is attacked by a Nokker. Parona decided to stay in Jananda to help Tonari and Sandel reshape the island but knows that they will meet Fushi again. During her time in Jananda, Tonari and Sandel teaches her how to write and read (just like Pioran taught her and Fushi), as well as perfecting her archery skills.
Fushi, at 58 years old in Nameless Boy's form, remains on Sarlnine Island for forty years after the death of his long-time companion and mentor Pioran, until Nokkers begin attacking humans off the island. As he prepares to leave, he meets Hisame, the nine-year-old granddaughter and reincarnation of Hayase, who established the cult-like unit called the Guardians. Hisame's left arm contains the Nokker which had merged with Hayase. The pair travel to the site of the Nokker attack, where they meet the grown Tonari, Sandel and Parona (she would've been 59 years old). Hayase's Nokker in Hisame's arm tries to kill Tonari and Parona, which only wounded Hisame, but escapes. Both Tonari and Parona dies from their wounds in front of Fushi, and becomes spirits, with Parona reuniting with March. Two centuries passed, the ghosts of Fushi's companions have been following Fushi, who has avoided extensive human contact and is regularly visited by the obsessed Hayase's reincarnations and descendants. Along the way, Fushi meeting new friends such as Kahaku, Hayase's only male descendent and sixth reincarnation, Prince Bonchien Nicoli La Tasty Peach Uralis and Todo of Uralis Kingdom, and the Immortals Kai, Messar and Hairo, while dealing with enemies such as Nokkers and the Church of Bennett.
During the Battle of Renril, the forlorn and exhausted Fushi reverted to his true form, the Orb, when Hayase’s knokker in Kahaku’s arm stole the remaining forms of his loved ones. With young March, who was accidentally returned to life before the battle started, she and Bonichen go to seek aid to get Fushi to regain his human form and cherished memories of those whose lives he has touched over the centuries. Having had enough, Bonchien risks his life by killing himself near Fushi, giving him his form. Now aware of his latest ability to resurrect the dead, Fushi is overjoyed to reunite with his good friends Parona, Gugu, and Tonari. As the Nokkers are overwhelmed by the people returning to life, they retreat, therefore saving Renril and its people from destruction. Kahaku leaves the city with his Nokker, and later kills himself and his Nokker, but not before expressing his strong love for Fushi. Fushi tells his friends he will make the world peaceful and resurrect them after he has done so. He sleeps and spreads his body across the planet, to stop the Nokkers from returning. Fushi's friends live their lives and all die as Fushi sleeps. After 600 years, Fushi's body encompasses the entire planet, now at a modern level of technological advancement.
After awakening five centuries into the modern era, Fushi resurrects the eleven spirits following him, including his closest friends March, Parona, Gugu, Tonari Dalton and Bonichen, and they meet Yuki Aoki of the Occult Research Club and his younger sister Aiko and grandfather Kazumitsu. Like Tonari, Parona would've revert to her 15-year-old self and attend middle school, learning to read and write with positive effects, all thanks to Pioran and Tonari's teachings in her first previous life. She became close to March and Eko as she has to Tonari, and like Hairo and Kai, Parona became wary when Yuki comes home with Mizuha, Hayase's great-great-great-great-great granddaughter and ninth reincarnation and introduces her.
What do you guys think? Hope you have any thoughts.

2023.06.08 07:46 1udderlycutecow Surviving a Blindsided Breakup (Long)

Even though it seems totally impossible right now, know that it will get better. 7 months ago I was in total shock when my boyfriend of over two years sat me down and blindsided me with a breakup. We had been living together for a few months at this point, so that night I had packed up all of my things and moved back to my parents house. The days and weeks after the breakup I was in a near suicidal depression trying to figure out what went wrong and how I lost my best friend. I ruminated over and over trying to think of the things that I my have said or done differently to have him stay, and would anxiously wait for that text from him to come home. Unfortunately it never came, but as time started to slowly go by I was able to see the breakup from a different light and begin the process of healing. While I still have a lot of progress left to go before I have made total peace with letting go of how things ended and the lack of closure, I feel a lightness that I never thought was possible before and you will too. These are some of the things I did (and wish I did more of to help me): Be kind to yourself While all breakups have their fair share of heartbreak, a blindsided breakup causes more unnecessary trauma and pain to the dumpees and is incredibly callous. Even though it sounds overly simple, make sure to be kind to yourself when going through this process. This can look like placing extra emphasis on self care or doing those little extra things for yourself that you enjoy. Especially right after the breakup, finding healthy distractions is so important. Even though I was in a state of shock, I remember going to the zoo days after the breakup and while I still felt shattered, seeing baby capybara's made me smile. Some introspection is good; constant rumination is not If you are anything like me you are an over thinker, and it is something I still struggle with in terms of the breakup (though it's better than before). One of the worst parts of being blindsided is not just the lack of closure, but also the mixed answers you may have received from your dumper as to what caused the breakup. I was literally obsessed with finding out what I did wrong, why things fell apart and maybe if I said this or did this that he would love me again. Please, please do not do this. While it is true that it takes two to have a healthy and stable relationship, remember that most of us were not given access into our partners inner world and they allowed small grievances to build up until it was unbearable. We are not mind readers, how can we improve on these issues if they are not addressed? Introspection on things that you would like to do differently is good, but make sure to not get hung up on the little details and how they may have changed things. Journaling One of the best tools that has helped me not only track my healing process but also make sense of the situation is journaling. You can do this in the traditional way by writing things down but I found that a video diary has helped a lot as well. It's a great way to organize your thoughts and get out all of the anger and hurt from the breakup. Maintain no contact One of the most hellish parts of the breakup was no contact. No matter what happened in my day good or bad he was one of the main people I went to. Not having him there during such a hard time was horrible, and while there are moments that even now I miss the home we made, I'm realizing how strong I am without him. You are too. The first few weeks will feel like going through withdrawal but it is so important that you separate yourself away from the dumper and find a sense of clarity about the situation on your own. This also applies to social media! Stalking and looking at their pages will only make these feelings worse and constantly reopen the wound. If you need to unfollow or block to fight the urge, do it. Exercise ( I wish I would have done more of this) While in the beginning I struggled to get out of bed, I wish that I would have tried to work out a bit more. Even if you can only manage a five minute walk around the block, try it. Moving around does help those bottled up feelings from going crazy. Finding people going through similar issues I am not exaggerating when I say that this is SO important. Right after the breakup I went on Reddit and ended up meeting one of the best friends I've ever had who was going through a breakup as well (having that support saved my life and I'm so grateful for them). Being able to connect with a community of people going through such a shocking similar experience is cathartic and makes you feel so much less alone. Even during those moments where you are fighting the urge to isolate try to reach out to your support system and this community. Continue to work on yourself for you NOT for them There's a quote that says " Don't climb mountains so that people can see you. Climb mountains so that you can see the world" and it applies to breakups too. All of this hard work you are doing to improve and love yourself more, do it for you. I know the thought of a villain era seems so tempting and you want to show them that you aren't just happy but thriving without them, but it's not worth it. Do it for you because you deserve that. Learn more about attachment styles One thing that I am grateful for from this experience is the chance to learn more about not only his kind of attachment style, but my own as well. This can help you get a better understanding of yourself and what you need in a partner, and also red flags to look out for when dating. Even though I know right now things are extremely difficult, know that things WILL get better. If no-one has told you, I'm proud of you and you will make it through this happy and whole again. If you need someone to reach out and talk to, my DM's are open!

2023.06.08 07:45 mansonitefirefox Should you upgrade from a 5800x to a 5800x3d?

I was wondering for a while whether moving from a 5800x to a 5800x3d would be a worthy upgrade now that costs of 5800x3d have come down considerably and can be had on sale for $300 USD/$500 AUD.
There are a lot of tests out there showing that the 5800x3d is clearly faster, but the tests are in situations where the CPU is clearly the limiting factor such as when paired with a 3090ti and you usually don't know how many other cars are on the track or what graphics settings they used.
So I wanted to find out whether or not it could uplift FPS in a situation where you are much more likely to be GPU limited, such as running triples, high resolution, high settings and/or not running a top tier GPU.
So I picked one up and here is my results.
TLDR: Even with the graphics cranked near the max, minimum FPS at the start of a race is increased by 20%. Average FPS increased by 16%. Max FPS doesn't change as you are GPU limited at that point.
GPU:EVGA 3070 FTW3 Ultra @ 1935mhz core 8200mhz memory & 111% power limit
Settings:7680 x 1440 triples.Replay settings - Class 1 default + no Dynamic LOD + 4 cockpit mirrorsTriple projections + SMP/MVP turned on
Each benchmark included 2 laps.
  1. A high stress lap at the start of a Daytona GT4 race with 50 cars all bunched up at the green light
  2. A lower stress lap at the end of a Daytona GT4 race with 50 cars (but at most 3-4 cars in view at any time)
Test 1: Stock 5800x at 4.7ghz @ 61 degrees max
Lap 1Avg: 56 - Min: 32 - Max: 92
Lap 2Avg: 81 - Min: 54 - Max: 112
Test 2: Overclocked and undervolted 5800x at 4.8ghz @ 56 degrees max
Lap 1Avg: 57 - Min: 33 - Max: 92
Lap 2Avg: 83 - Min: 56 - Max: 113
Test 3: Stock 5800x3d CPU at 4.4ghz @ 61 degrees max
Lap 1Avg: 65 - Min: 39 - Max: 92
Lap 2Avg: 85 - Min: 64 - Max: 114

2023.06.08 07:44 catspajam I think my cat said goodbye

I lost my 17 (almost 18) year old cat a few months ago. She had hyperthyroidism and was slowing down but there were no real signs that she was ready to go. She went for a sleepover at my parents house as my mom volunteered to take her to a vet appointment while I went to work. That morning, my mom woke up to feed her and she was acting kind of strange. She put her on a blanket in front of the fireplace (her old favourite spot) and went upstairs to get my dad. By the time they came down she was gone. This was around 7 am. Meanwhile I was at home and woke up around 7 to the sound of her meowing down the hall, as she would usually do to remind me to feed her in the morning. It sounded so real and I got out of bed before I remembered she wasn’t at my house.
I went on with my day as usual until my parents came over after I was done work to let me know she had passed. I’m not super into the paranormal, but I firmly believe that the meowing I heard (dream or not) was her saying goodbye. I still tear up every time I think about it. I miss you Tabs.

2023.06.08 07:44 TRZbebop675 Insomnia after quitting alcohol?

Hello everyone. Since mid - May I have had an inability to sleep. I simply do not get drowsy at night, and I don't feel drowsy the next day. In order to get any sleep I typically follow a routine: I take 5 - 10 mg of melatonin, get 2 - 3 of sleep (during which I immediately fall into a dream state), wake up, take more melatonin, get another 2 - 3 hours (usually dream again). What started out as days of insomnia turned into weeks. Now some context. I used to drink pretty heavily. For about 16 months, I used to come home in the evening and drink about 8 - 12 ounces of whiskey every night. I started weaning myself off in late April and quit drinking altogether 2 - 3 weeks later. Putting two and two together, I figured my sleep problems are due to long - term alcohol use. Now my questions. Has anyone experienced similar issues after quitting alcohol? Could this be due to my body losing the ability to produce melatonin after relying on alcohol as a sedative (I almost always drank at night, and often fell asleep drunk)? How long does this insomnia typically last? Has anyone tried remedies that work? Thank you for your responses.

2023.06.08 07:44 1udderlycutecow Surviving a Blindsided Breakup (Long)

These are some of the things I did (and wish I did more of to help me):

Be kind to yourself
While all breakups have their fair share of heartbreak, a blindsided breakup causes more unnecessary trauma and pain to the dumpees and is incredibly callous.

Some introspection is good; constant rumination is not
If you are anything like me you are an over thinker, and it is something I still struggle with in terms of the breakup (though it's better than before).

Journaling
One of the best tools that has helped me not only track my healing process but also make sense of the situation is journaling. You can do this in the traditional way by writing things down but I found that a video diary has helped a lot as well. It's a great way to organize your thoughts and get out all of the anger and hurt from the breakup.

Maintain no contact
One of the most hellish parts of the breakup was no contact.

Exercise ( I wish I would have done more of this)
While in the beginning I struggled to get out of bed, I wish that I would have tried to work out a bit more. Even if you can only manage a five minute walk around the block, try it. Moving around does help those bottled up feelings from going crazy.

Finding people going through similar issues
I am not exaggerating when I say that this is SO important.

Continue to work on yourself for you NOT for them
There's a quote that says " Don't climb mountains so that people can see you.

Learn more about attachment styles
One thing that I am grateful for from this experience is the chance to learn more about not only his kind of attachment style, but my own as well.

2023.06.08 07:44 Exiled8 Post Op Report- Good News

First of all, I want to thank everyone who shares their stories here in great detail, I found it both compelling that I should take my health seriously, but also reassuring that generally speaking the procedure is safe if done by a highly qualified professional.
The prep was Gavilyte and it was slimy compared to what I expected (vs salty), but I just chased it with Gatorade after every sip. I went through as much Gatorade as I did prep, it was about 1:1, so buy just as much Gatorade if you have a bad gag reflex with gross stuff like me. 4 doses in, I still hadn’t gone yet, and I was behind schedule because I just couldn’t bring myself to drink 8oz every 10-20 mins. Nonetheless I started at 6pm and was finished by 8:45. I continued to go over and over until about 11:30pm when I laid down to sleep. It was clear by the end of the night. 4:30AM I wake up to start for the second dose, this time it went right through me and I was going within 15 mins instead of an hour life the first dose the night before. The first movement of the morning was back to looking like a bowel movement. I powered through the prep and finished all but 3 oz. I pushed right up to the liquid cutoff 2 hrs before procedure. 7:30-9:30 I was still going but it was clear again by the time I left home.
My procedure was done at an ambulatory clinic in a nice suburb, close enough to a hospital for support if unlikely complications unfolded, but with the higher quality of care and consistency that you get from a career professional who owns the business for decades. The staff answered all of my questions pre-op, I asked about sterilization procedures per the 2015 John Hopkins study about 71% of scoped still having bacteria after “cleaning”, and they explained their tedious practices for hand scrubbing every crevice of the scopes unlike “dishwashing machine” style machines that wash them in a static state. They were thorough in covering my medical history, symptoms, and questions about diet and risk management for the future. I was sedated and faintly remember watching the screen at the very end and being told “we didn’t find anything you’re all clear!” I was moved to recovery and that part is also missing, but once I was seated upright and left to pass gas I snapped out of it fairly quickly and had clarity of thought and memory back. My energy was normal and by the time we were driving away I felt back to normal like the whole thing never even happened. They presented me with paperwork on the way out summarizing the results, with screenshots.
Ultimately, I have three points to share.
1) I am 35M and had ambiguous symptoms. I read endlessly on the internet and convinced myself I surely had cancer. I did not. I had a negative fit Test. I was discouraged by many doctors across many years from getting a colonoscopy. I got one anyway. I am glad I did, even though nothing was found. I will gladly waste a day, $1300, and take a small risk of complications to know I’m not missing the window of opportunity to stop cancer in it tracks early before it gets started or progresses to a late stage with chemo, radiation, and surgery required.
2) my best friend died at 24 of CRC and my grandfather had it in his mid 60’s. I understood my risks and the implications of waiting too long. This created bias for me but my risk is real. Being an MUTYH carrier and having an impacted stool/hemorrhoids, flattened stool, and reducing stool caliber were enough factors to make my choice. The more I talked to friends, family, and colleagues, the more I discovered many of them had colonoscopies that saved their lives and they are only here today because of that intervention.
3) I read endlessly about the procedure risks and complications. This was counterproductive, and, while good to know, it ultimately magnified low probabilities and needlessly terrified me for months until I could get the scope. Know the risks, but weight those odds against the other odds- like 1:20 lifetime odds of CRC. It goes up from there with things like family history. I read every possible complication and statistic and almost chickened out, but then I decided to trust the numbers. 1:1000 chance of perforation, or 1:7 lifetime odds CRC shows up (due to family history).
Take care of yourself and remember you are your own health advocate.

2023.06.08 07:44 Twizest I don't deserve to be sad

I don't have anyone else to talk to about this kinda stuff so I've sunk low enough to come here. I'm a freshman in high school, I have good grades, friends, family, money, but man I've never been more sad and depressed in my life. I've never been popular in school but I've never been a social outcast either, not until this first year of high school. I lm so socialy incapable that I don't even ask to go to the bathroom and end up just waiting till I get home, and I mean it's not like I really get bullied tho but honestly I'd rather get bullied because then I'd have a reason to feel this way in my life. I'm such a loser. I'm 15 and I have no idea what I'm gonna do with my life, this first year of highschool has gone by so fast, to be honest man I'm fucking scared and I've never been more scared in my life. I'm not insecure about many things but the thing that really kills my confidence is my height, especially in this Era of social media and stuff, I'm 5'4 at 15, the standards for most girls is always so high and I just never feel that I'm good enough for anyone. Watching everyone around me get girlfriends just brings me down so much because I have so much love to give but no one to give it to and I don't think I ever will. I'm talking to this one girl on snapchat that my friend set up for me and I really like her but I just don't think she's interested in me and I don't know how to handle that, I can't comprehend being loved by anyone that isn't my family so when ever I receive love or any sort of attention I don't realize it and even if I do I don't do anything about it because I don't wanna come off as weird. Anyway I guess that's it for now, I might make updates at some point.
TL;DR Social anxiety is killing my mental health
