2023.06.08 06:40 harlow2088 Recent hack going around
I wanted to post this in case this happens to anyone else. I’ve had my Etsy store since 2013 and it was hacked recently. All my listings were deleted and 12 new listings were charged to my account as well as marketing fees. Each listing contained the following in the description (the hacker website was bundlepng (I took out the actual links)):
——-
Description* Please Don't Order In this Etsy Shop 1. Product link: (company link was posted here) 2. Choose the Collection you want to purchase. 3. When you buy on (company link was posted here) website, you will get DISCOUNT50% Personalization Required "Buy on website: (company link was posted here)"
——-
I’ve shut down my store temporarily and contacted Etsy; just waiting on them to reply, but wanted to raise awareness in the community.
Etsy has gone down a massive amount in the last ten years I’ve sold on the platform and this is likely the nail in the coffin for me to fully move over to my own website.
If you haven’t turn on two factor authentication, remove any autopay, and backup your listings (all rookie mistakes on my end).
Stay safe out there!

2023.06.08 06:19 zombieCyborg West Indian Burger King found in Upstate New York?!
Pardon the clickbait, my Brazilian wife loves a vegetable they call maxixe (muh-shi-shi) and we just figured out in English it’s called “West Indian Burr Gherkin”.
I’ve seen some Americans in Florida that are able to grow it outdoors, but I’m in zone 6 (upstate New York) and inexperienced at gardening in general.
I’m not seeing anyone in my zone posting online about growing this obscure plant, so I’m leaning towards thinking I’ll have to learn how to build a greenhouse if i want to grow this for her.
Any guidance? I’m basically just googling the name of the plant and my zone and getting discouraged at lack of info. If I wanted to grow plants she loves from home, where can i start learning? Can greenhouses be built to imitate specific climates? She misses these and passionfruit but NY is pretty cold.
Anyone able to point me in any sort of useful direction would be appreciated.

2023.06.08 06:09 aceofnospades My ex girlfriend admitted to still loving me today.
For background, my ex, who we’ll call Sarah, and I broke up for the final time in August of 2022, though we remained in contact with each other in one way or another due to us having mutual friends. I have been with my current girlfriend, we’ll call her May, for a little over 6 months. Things were good up until around the 3 month mark, where we started arguing constantly over every little thing.
The arguments would get so bad that we’d be screaming in each others faces, and some have even ended with me being hurt in some way, things such as my acrylic nail ripping off, or her threatening to kick me out of her car in unfamiliar areas because she was too pissed to be near me. It started to seem like she hated me and just wanted a reason to be mad at me and so she would start arguments with me over the smallest things. We also have a lot of issues regarding trust due to her past relationship, and many of my friends/family think I should end May and I’s relationship for good. I admit, they may have gotten in my ear and fed into what’s happening now, but I digress.
The current issue, however, started today, when Sarah texted me in regards to my Netflix account, which she still uses. We ended up texting for awhile and then we FaceTimed. During this FaceTime call we talked a lot, about our new interests, and how we’ve changed since we last spoke (which was around September-ish of 2022).
At some point during the conversation, she admitted to still having feelings for me. It honestly shocked me as she’s the one who ended things with me the final time. She went on to compliment me a few times during the call. When we got off the call, I started to get confused. I admit it felt nice, especially since I would feel so dehumanized after the arguments with May. Sarah made me feel seen for a little while, and it made me think about my actual happiness.
After the call, I felt guilty for how I felt, so I called May to tell her. She got extremely upset, which I understand, and is hounding me to make a choice, and has been yelling at me over the phone. Sarah has no idea I told May, and I’m not sure what to do.
I love May, very much, but finding out Sarah still loves me has confused me. On one hand I know I’m hurting May by even considering any of this, but Sarah made me feel seen for the first time in awhile, it was nice to speak to someone who didn’t find an issue with every little thing I do/have done. I’ve already cried about this, and tried to rationalize the whole situation, but no matter what I can’t seem to find a way to make any sort of decision. What do I do? I don’t know what to do.

2023.06.08 05:34 -attila-the-pun- Is System Shock 1 still an immersive sim?
So I just finished the System Shock remake, and ignoring the fact that it definitely needed more time in the oven, I had a very good time with it. It's got some quirks (like how everything is so brightly lit now that the vision patches and flashlight are pointless), but overall they delivered exactly what they promised. I can't think of a reason to recommend the original over the remake to a new player, which is probably the best metric by which to judge a game like this.
That said, a thought resurfaced that I had when I played the original SS1 a few years ago. It doesn't feel very... immersive simmy? It feels like a normal FPS.
Granted, part of this is probably due to shifting genre definitions - like how Symphony of the Night was once considered an RPG, but most people nowadays would just call it an action platformer. So much of what made SS1 an ImSim - character upgrades, map design representing a functional place rather than an abstract maze, adaptive music, crouching and leaning, etc. - is so deeply embedded in the DNA of modern game design that they no longer feel unique.
It doesn't help that the term ImSim is very vague. Wikipedia defines it as "a genre that emphasizes player choice", specifically in relying on simulated systems. You can probably see the problem: just about any game can be called an ImSim by that definition, and the rest of the page trips over itself trying and failing to nail it down. Nobody else seems to have a clear idea either. Prey is an ImSim, Breath of the Wild is apparently not (even though it should theoretically qualify), and I've stumbled upon half a dozen internet arguments about whether Oblivion is. Ultimately, I think the label has taken on a similar mantle to "Metroidvania". Instead of applying to a set of design characteristics, it serves as a blanket term for games cribbing System Shock 2, Thief, or Deus Ex. That doesn't sit right with me, and I think it holds these games back.
Of course, none of this is criticizing either the original or Night Dive's remake. Both are great. They just got me thinking about how genre labels influence our expectations.

2023.06.08 05:27 digitalamish Auto finances when my father passes away
My father has gone into hospice, and has a limited time left. We are trying to figure out his vehicle situation as it pertains to my mom. We’re in NY.
Mom and dad have 2 vehicles, both with my father on the titles. A 2022 car with about $18k left on the loan, and a 2012 pickup that is free of debt. My mom wants to keep the car, and my sisters family is willing to buy the truck for the cost of my moms car loan.
While my father can still sign the titles over, my sister is considering paying off the car loan to the bank to clear that debt, then having dad sign that title over to my mom, and then ‘gifting’ the truck to my sister (NY has no gift tax). Will that avoid us having to pay sales tax on the money we pay for the loan? Will the bank or the government raise any red flags if we pull money out of my sisters savings account, and then pay the bank loan off under my fathers name? Is there anything we need to worry about with potential probate court and his other debt (only a credit card and a loan for the house)?
We’re also trying to avoid my mom or my sister taking out another car loan at a higher rate, just to transfer the title and reregister the car. The bank has made it clear that once my father is no longer with us, the loan has to be closed and a new loan under the new title owner.

2023.06.08 05:17 No_Sport3576 Honest opinion and eager to see what is next
well..Just watched Adam's new video and I had to pick up my hanging jaw off of the floor.
First of all, proud of you Adam, you are being so brave and I'm glad you have found your voice after this poisonous woman sucked it out of you Ursula style. And I'm so glad you pulled up soo many receipts because it adds a great layer of credibility she cannot combat or deny.
Adam's video essentially confirms everything this subreddit has been talking about for years now. Her narcissism, textbook abusive behaviour, her affair, mistreatment of fans, and all around fake persona of the wholesome content creating mother who loooves her fans so much. Adam has done an amazing job of shattering that facade and showing her true colours which most of us couldn't do because we aren't that close to her.
And for a while I felt crazy for being on here, thinking 'Am I joining a hate mob?' or 'maybe we are looking too far into things and abusing this woman' but no more self doubt. This is her. and I'm glad this subreddit exists. If this subreddit gets banned I'm going to cry because it holds so much crucial evidence that has been meticulously organised and backed up with photographic or video evidence.
And now I am just dying to see her response. I want to know how she approaches this because if it was me I would delete my entire internet presence and RUN for the hills never to be seen again. There is so much evidence and countless testimonies. she is backed into a corner and I'm sure she is SWEATING.
I think the most insane and definite nail in her coffin would be if Joshua got up and made a video about his experience whilst dating her and exposing her behaviouhow she treated him. Because she has tried to hide that part of her life so much. It would be mortifying to be exposed for cheating on your former husband with your current one. However I am aware that Joshua probably wants some peace and quiet after years of harassment and perhaps wants to focus on his family. I'm just saying, this would be probably the best time to speak up.
(edited so hopefully the mods are now ok with my post)

2023.06.08 04:59 Adventurous_Power609 Unhireable. Don’t know how much longer I can go on
Sorry for the long paragraphs I just need to put this into words.
I’ve been out of steady employment for a couple of years now. I used to work in the design industry, mainly graphic design/UX stuff. Past few years I’ve been forced to freelance doing random entry level shit and not able to develop my skills, in fact it feels like I’m regressing….. I used to have so much energy to learn new things, now most days I can barely force myself to watch a single tutorial on YouTube. All my thoughts are like lead, constantly looping around my unemployment and what it says about me. I’m living on scraps of income and the good will of a few friends. It’s been particularly bad this year- while I used to be able to barely make ends meet before, I literally only managed to make 90 bucks in the past two months when my rent is five times that - I only have a couple of months left at this rate, if I’m being optimistic. Lmao.
I have spent so much time and effort over the last years applying to a variety of jobs - both in and outside of my field- writing custom cover letters for each one, and haven’t gotten a single interview. I’m lucky to get a rejection. It feels like the whole world has left me behind and I can’t keep up. I’m still in my mid 20s and already it feels like I’m too old to stay in the race. You’d think with so much free time I’d be able to learn new skills but instead I’m just rotting away. Worst of all I’m watching all my friends who are in the same industry doing completely fine or even great, and it’s becoming harder and harder not to be resentful or jealous despite me genuinely being glad that they don’t have to go through the same bullshit, and knowing I simply don’t deserve what they do based on the difference in our merits and accomplishments. On top of that the recent AI art trend has noticeably started taking over job postings more and more frequently, and people are openly celebrating that my profession is becoming obsolete - it seems like the final nail in the coffin.
At this point it feels as though the sign is not only clear but also glows in neon. The world doesn’t need me anymore. It’s literally only going to get worse. I am only a burden to society and I simply do not see a way to dig myself out of this hole. If I can’t even land basic entry level jobs for things that don’t require specific training or qualification, I’m no use to anyone. I feel like I should end it all before I reach the point of no return with becoming homeless or even worse, becoming an even bigger burden on people I care about. It feels like the end. Any day now

2023.06.08 04:42 cranberrywaltz Does anyone else resent Jess?
I am currently rewatching the series and although I always remember that I hate Jess, I never think I dislike her as much as I do until I’m watching.
She’s crazy annoying and possibly one of the lowest functioning members of the loft, she is a vice principal? Does that just speak to the low level of quality educators in the USA?
Also, the show is called new girl making her the titular character, but I care the least about her. She really becomes a secondary character as the show progresses.
The theme song is obnoxious. The boy’s whistle at the end hits the nail squarely on the head. I’m so glad they got rid of it in season 4.
I hope ZD thanks everyone else on that show for carrying it for her.
Sorry for the rant. I like everyone else, just not her.

2023.06.08 04:26 Yarbles The Official Report of the May RVA Reddit (no we haven't) Bookclub
It was a fine day in May and we pulled up and talked about some books. We covered
Blitz by Daniel O'Malley and, because it was recently Mother's Day,
I'm Glad My Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy. And we spent way more time on them than we usually do, so we must have liked them. Quite a few people read the Blitz. Incorrigible_muffin had previously covered it, but was disappointed in the a payoff, and said the two story lines didn't really resolve. Aurora_the_Off-White said that she liked it, but agreed that it wasn't on the same level as the first two.
She said that Blitz could have a strong philosophical payoff even if the storylines didn't have an strong resolution. If someone read Blitz by itself without the first two novels, they might enjoy it more. Carbonjen thought there was a lot to like about the writer, saying he writes women well. Muffin said there were a lot of interesting possibilities in the world he created. The author covers the British and American versions of supernatural bureaus, but there were many of these throughout the world.
We talked about the story's structure. The main character's lost memory lets the author explain the supernatural elements in detail and do the worldbuilding without any distracting exposition. Munsontime had a thought, asking if it was technically the same person in the body or a completely new personality that developed after the wiped memory. If a personality is a product of the experiences and memories the person accumulates, then it's probably a different person.
Munson blitzed through the first two and is currently on the third. He was surprised at the spelling of the main character's name, Myfanwy Thomas, having listened to the audiobook. I was surprised and a little disappointed that the pronunciation is just "Miffany". Princess_MoNaanKay stopped by to return the first book int the The Checquy Files,
The Rook that I had lent out. I thought she was returning it specifically because we were reading The Blitz, but she said she's decided to see other bookclubs. So we just need to move on and live our best bookclub life and hope she finds happiness.
Jennette McCurdy was apparently in a show called
iCarly. I had never seen it or heard of it, so I think I missed a lot of context from the book. Everyone else in our group really liked the book - finding it insightful and funny. Most people agreed that the things the author's mom did stood out, and so did the actions of
Dan Schneider, who was the creator of iCarly. But she didn't go into that in depth. Muffin said the system that pipelines kids into the entertainment business is fundamentally responsible for many of these abusive situations, and the actions of the mom are a product of that. Aurora thought that the author used humor to cope with loss and grief.
We talked about long wait times for getting books from the library. Carbonjen actually bought
Tender Is the Flesh by Agustina Bazterrica because she was not optimistic about it becoming available through the library. She didn't have as many spicy romance recommendations as last time, but did have a couple. She thought
Pestilence by Laura Thalassa was good and a fun concept. It's the first of The Four Horsemen series; a romance involving the four horseman of the apocalypse.
She liked
The Siren a lot less. I think this was the one by Kiera Cass. Apparently the characters said the word "fishcunt" too many times and it became grating. She also didn't like how a lot of the characters in
A Court of Thorns and Roses were developed in the story. She mentioned Brutal Prince only to say it was brutally bad, and is reading
Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo and liking. And that makes Muffin happy.
Sassypapaya recently read
Cloud Cuckoo Land by Anthony Doerr, which is very popular around these parts. I think she said she read
The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller, and may have had good things to say about
Lightlark by Alex Aster, or that may have been someone else. She was too far away from me for me to follow the conversation from that side of the circle very well. She asked about
Verity by Colleen Hoover and Muffin said that Colleen Hoover was a step up from Stephanie Meyer.
Munson and his friends have a rule for their bookclub: you can't use the term "Beautiful Prose". But
if he was forced to provide an example of beautiful prose, then he
might use it when talking about
Another Country by James Baldwin. He described it as "Kerouacky" - intimate and sexual especially for 1961. It's about the Jazz scene in NY in the 60s, with themes of race, gender, and sexual orientation in its cultural context. A slice of life story in the gay, black, jazz scene in New York.
The Trial of Henry Kissinger by Christopher Hitchens is next for his other bookclub, Apparently Hank is bumping up against age 100. It was estimated that his cold-blooded policy directives are responsible for 4 or 5 million deaths. We talked briefly about
Red Rising by Pierce Brown, which was the biggest book in the world for a minute. Munson said that, as a sci fi guy, he had already read many similar stories before and it just wasn't a big deal for him.
Assaulty recently read
American War by Omar Al Akkad, and talked about how people end up on different sides of a conflict. Many times people don't have a choice about which side they end up on, and American War addresses some of these themes. She asked for more like this book. Asterion7 suggested Paolo Bacigulupi works such as
The Water Knife and
Shipbreaker, which are near future works with major themes of climate catastrophe. For this kind of thing I always recommend
Afterwar by Lilith Saintcrow. Saintcrow a romance writer and I was really surprised by this book. It's gritty and hard, and a little spicy but not romantic.
Assaulty also read
Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin and likes reading about creative partnerships like this. She told us about
Nevada by Imogen Binnie, which is one of the inspirations for
Detransition Baby by Torrey Peters;
This Is How You Lose the Time War by Amal El-Mohtar and Max Gladstone; and
The Way of Shadows by Brent Weeks, the first book of the Night Angel trilogy.
Muffin told us about
The House of Eve by Sadeqa Johnson, the next book after the
The Yellow Wife, which features Lumpkin's Jail. The House of Eve takes place in DC and Philly and ties in with the events of the first boo., The author will be
giving a talk on June 8th at the Library of Virginia, and Muffin wanted to read this before seeing the author.
Please join us for a talk by award-winning author Sadeqa Johnson on her new novel, The House of Eve, the follow-up to her book Yellow Wife, which won the Library’s 2022 People’s Choice Award for Fiction. In this moving work of historical fiction set in 1950s Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., the stories of two women collide in unexpected ways as they both make decisions that shape the trajectory of their lives. The House of Eve was an instant New York Times best seller and was selected by Reese’s Book Club as the February 2023 pick. A book signing will follow the talk.
The Carole Weinstein Author Series supports the literary arts by bringing both new and well-known authors to the Library of Virginia through online or in-person events. Free and open to the public, the series focuses on Virginia.
Coconut read the second book in the Great Cities series by N.K. Jemisin called the
The World We Make. Asterion7 picked up
Trust by Herman Diaz, a Pulitzer prize winner. He also read
We Are All the Same in the Dark by Julia Heaberlin and liked it enough to finish it, but not much more than that.
assaulty is looking for a gateway to Sci Fi, and asked about the distinction between Sci Fi and Fantasy. However many people there are in the room, that's the number of different opinions you're likely to hear at any given time. Some say it's magic versus technology. If Sci Fi doesn't have magic, what about Star Wars and force lightning from those Sith guys? So maybe Star Wars is actually Fantasy and Star Trek is Sci Fi. But what about wormholes and different dimensions and the super annoying character Q? It's a subject worth exploring, but there might not be an answer. To me those are just two different themes with strong aesthetic styling.
Assaulty may have read
Parable of the Sower by Octavia E. Butler or it might have just been recommended to her because she is interested in Sci Fi and liked The American War. Skyvrbyvr loved
Octavia Butler's Kindred giving it 5 stars. She says it's not just beautiful prose: she respects that Butler is not afraid to create gruff and real people - characters that are somewhat unlikable but somehow still relatable.
Aurora had a huge list of completions and I have no idea if these are all hers or not. But this month she read a bunch of first books across several series. I think heard
Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo;
Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn by Tad Williams the first of the The Dragonbone Chair series (I think she deemed it meh);
Elantris by Brandon Sanderson also caught a meh; and
Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch, the first of the Gentleman Bastards series.
The last one generated a lot of interest as a lot of us have read it and really liked it. Like The Checquy Files, the first book is fantastic and there are diminishing returns after that, though I haven't read the last two: The Republic of Thieves and The Thorn of Emberlain. Munson says that if you read Sanderson, then
The Stormlight Archive series is the way to go. Aurora also has
Circe by Madeline Miller on hold at the library.
We talked about a few books about music, I think all of these are from Munson, including
Meet Me in the Bathroom by Lizzy Goodman: Rebirth and Rock and Roll in New York City 2001-2011;
Please Kill Me: The Uncensored Oral History of Punk by Legs McNeil and Gillian McCain; and
Sing Backwards and Weep, a memoir by the singer Mark Lanegan. We also talked a little about
Nardwuar, a music interviewer who is amazingly in-depth but often described as offputting.
Munson says he can sometimes be invasive and not enjoyable but agrees that he is talented. Nardwuar is likely autistic and we were informed that "neurospicy" is no longer acceptable. Obviously, I'm cool with someone else deciding what they find offensive and following their recommendations, but I wish we had something to pivot to. We talked about how the line between normies and nerurodivergents can be pretty thin and while gatekeeping mental health can be frustrating, it's also infuriating that people resist any accommodation for neurodivergent people.
I knocked off a few books, including
On a Night of A Thousand Stars by Andrea Yaryura Clark;
Convenience Store Woman by Sayaka Murata, and
Gold Fame Citrus by Claire Vaye Watkins. The last was comparable to Station Eleven in terms of quality and themes. The story wasn't as good, but the prose was pretty exceptional. The author was able to do some things I hadn't seen before. I'm reading
The City of Brass by S.A. Chakraborty,
The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula K. Le Guin, and listening to a couple courses about Human Pre History, First Civilizations, and pre-Alexandrian Empires.
Apparently George RR Martin joined the writer's strike and is not writing anything, not that you could really tell. We talked about the 8th season of Game of Thrones, and how those two producers just ruined at least hundreds of millions of dollars in sales of DVDs, downloads, books, and comics. One of the most disastrous effects of incompetence on a brand I've ever seen.
We talked about
Patrick Rothfus's Name of the Wind and how the main character was a bit of a Mary Sue, but the narrator might have intentionally been portrayed as unreliable. Someone brought up
Hope and Other Dangerous Pursuits by Laila Lalami, and we added
The Moor's Account as August's non-dorky read. Some of the guys don't want to me call it a Muggle book anymore, and would rather call it a regular book. Maybe we need to keep looking for the right term.
We talked about books with actual paper pages versus reading on a device or listening to audiobooks. Carbonjen says she prefers the Kindle Paperweight because her dogs chews up actual books. I read paper, epub, and listen in about equal proportions. I was listening to Dodge, or Fall in Hell and was not liking it, but started liking it better when I flipped to the epub version. Munson says he uses safari reader on his laptop and will set it to autoscroll. We also compared strategies for downsizing our libraries. Very few people keep every book they buy anymore, especially if you have moved your collection a couple times.
We talked about the St. James Muse, trails on the James, the resurgence in skating, and art classes at the VMFA and Visual Arts Studio. We also talked about all the pedestrians being hit by cars and how squaring street corners can slow cars down. Right now corners are rounded, encouraging cars to take them at speed. And how dash cams are an essential equipment for cars now. Chop Suey is now Shelf Life and Wonton is now "Wonny". But has retired and been replaced by two new cats, presumably who are earning much lower, entry-level wages.
Someone brought up BookTalk.org, saying they mostly got ass recommendations out of it. I've used
https://www.whatshouldireadnext.com and it isn't
so bad, but really isn't any better than Goodreads. I've used
Shepherd a couple of times, which can be really good if you're looking for exactly the type of book that has been covered in one of their lists, but it seems to only accept general categories.
Coming Up on June 18 Coming Up on July 23 - Just pick a book in your To Be Read pile and tell us about it. We were lamenting the large backlog that each of each is carrying around and decided to just knock some of them out.

In Just 7 Minutes You have probably heard all the benefits of selling your own information products online… … and why it’s so desirable… - 100% profit margins
- No shipping
- No inventory
- Work where you want
- Work when you want
- Unlimited scaling (and profits)
- No employees
- Virtually zero overhead
I’m obsessed with simplifying income creation. The “guru’s” try to make it more complicated than it needs to be. For the past two months, I’ve been on a mission. A mission to create a true no-excuse method to to help ANYONE finally start creating income online FAST -and eliminate ALL excuses. This new system creates income with: *NO web site *NO long sales letter or video sales letter *NO existing list *NO programming *NO blogging *NO plugins *NO membership software *NO web hosting *NO email system *NO merchant account *NO previous product *NO connections *NO expertise Yeah, I know it sounds “too good to be true”, and it feels strange even as I write this. But it’s 100% true. When I shared the results with my colleague (who makes close to 8-figures a year), he was shocked at the results. In an industry where everyone moves fast – I’m known as THE most prolific profit simplifyer and creator. Here’s what Brian Kurtz recently said about my ability to work fast… “Running the world’s #1 direct marketing compant that has done over $120 million in yearly sales, I’ve been blessed to have worked with the all-time greatest minds in business and marketing. And when it comes to simplifying product creation and getting programs to market fast.. Ryan is in a league by himself. He’s my go-to guy.. no one comes close. If you want to make more money by leveraging your time and selling your ideas as products – listen to whatever he says.” So here’s the deal… I’m delivering this new training system, LIVE, on Wednesday December 16th at 9pm est (it will also be recorded). You’ll go through my entire new system, STEP-BY-STEP, in real-time. By the end of the training, you’ll be able to start generating profits. This training will eventually sell for $2,000.00 – but as a part of this live “field test” group, you get in now for just one-payment of $197 (no upsells, no future billing and no “catch”). The only thing I ask is you share your results with me as you generate income.. FAST. WHO IS RYAN LEE? First, Ryan loves talking about himeself in 3rd person. His story of how he started as a gym teacher and now runs an 8-figure business (all from Starbucks) has led to people calling him the “World’s Leading Lifestyle Entrepreneur”. Ryan has been featured on the front page of The Wall Street Journal, the cover of Millionaire Blueprints Magazine, and is now a columnist for Entrepreneur. And when he’s not helping his wife with his 4 young kids – Ryan wrote two books and contributed to a dozen more, including the NY Times Best-Selling Series” The Worst Case Scenario Business Survival Guide. submitted by AutoModerator to coursesupos [link] [comments] |
2023.06.08 04:16 Kittenbitt How to coyly postpone a date?
Been chatting with this guy from bumble (I am 26F and he is 35M). After a week of chatting, I lovingly bullied him into asking me out (“whatcha dragging your feet for?”)
He said he’d plan a special date this weekend and implied he wants it to be a long drawn out thing since we click so well. I really like him so I ordered a new outfit and salon appt. However, the new outfit won’t arrive until next week and salon can’t fit me in till then.
I really, really want to postpone the date until I’m ready, but how do I do so coyly? I feel like saying I had an unexpected issue is so lame, and will make it seem like I’m catfishing him. We have a really flirty rapport, any thoughts?

2023.06.08 04:09 WillowDarling Gummies Won’t Get Out of my System
So I nailed the interview at a new job; the problem? I use THC gummies, I haven’t used in over a month and I’m still popping positive. I’ve tried the certol (pectin jelly stuff) and Gatorade, I’d sucked down so much water I think I’m going to grow gills! The drug test is observed and I don’t know what to do. Help..?

2023.06.08 04:02 PlinyToTrajan Do you think the migrants arriving in New York City are, for the most part, bona fide asylum seekers?
On May 31, 2023, the NY Daily News reported,
"‘Very few’ of NYC’s 70,000 migrants have applied for asylum: city official." This source, which although a tabloid is respected and, unlike the New York Post, is not regarded as having a conservative bias, quoted a high-placed City official publicly saying "very few people have applied for asylum."
At first glance, this would seem to be devastating for the local Democratic politicos' narrative concerning the migrants. So successful had they been at portraying the migration crisis as being about "asylum seeking" that all the local news organizations had taken to calling the migrants "asylum seekers."
The alleged fact of "asylum seeking," it seems to me, is a keystone of the general Democratic Party narrative that this phenomenon is not "illegal immigration." Many times when I describe the phenomenon as "illegal immigration," interlocutors tell me that because there is a legal right to apply for asylum, the immigration itself is not illegal (albeit the act of covert border crossing is a misdemeanor). This argument would fall apart if the migrants are not in fact
bona fide asylum applicants.
In the wake of the Daily News' reporting, nonprofits like Make the Road and the Legal Aid Society worked quickly to advance a counter-narrative: The migrants
intend to apply for asylum, they say, they just haven't due to lack of access to (publicly funded) lawyers.
