Not sure where else to post this. It is work and life related. Any advice or commiseration is welcome. What has helped you? Especially in a similar situation? Not just something you read, but something you did.
Not a sob story, just some context to follow... how would you feel, and what would you do, if you were me based on the following:

• My mom died after a month with me in home hospice and decades with cancer, last spring. I just finished my sessions with grief counseling this month.
• I had to give up our dog that we had for ten years this past March, because....
• I moved to another country to be with my husband (we were long distance, the distance is now closed). Couldn't take the dog with me. (She is happy and healthy elsewhere now, thankfully.)
• I no longer live near family, friends, or anything familiar, which is only starting to bother me now, because...
• I just started a new job, easily the most stressful one I've ever had, and it is making me feel grossly incompetent and overwhelmed.
  • I only had a few days of training with the previous person in my role before they left. I am on my own with a ton of documentation that is often outdated or difficult to find, and I have superiors that are unreachable, not very approachable, or not clear... the kinds of conversations that make your head spin.
  • I am not even sure if the clarity bit is real, because it's totally possible that I am so stressed that things just don't always make sense.
• All of this is setting off urges to check and recheck my work and I get stuck in anxious thoughtloops throughout the day which hurt my productivity.
• My husband is worried because I get distant and closed off, and even my friends (online) sense something is up.
• All of this feels like stupid, immature complaining, and it makes it very difficult to share.

What the hell do I do? It feels like a mess, and there is so much more. This is just the sparknotes.
We want to start going to the gym and just getting out there and moving. I walk for at least half of my hour lunch break just to get my body moving and get some sun. I try to be open, but it doesn't come naturally. I guess I just... try harder?
Everything feels extremely nebulous, gray, and confusing. My memory sucks right now. Learning new things sucks right now. I am very, very grateful that I finally get to live with the person I love, but my stress levels are at an all time high, and it sucks that it hurts him to see me hurting.
Literally what do I do. I feel like I need step-by-step instructions that I can read and reread infinitely until I fully understand them. Therapy?
Sorry for the rambling post, but I am at my wit's end here. If you read this far, thank you. I am struggling here and would really appreciate some friendly words.

I'm about to lose my mind and would love to get insight on this. For whatever reason one day my shitty phone, a BLU vivo xi plus, refuses to show me downloaded files to transfer to my laptop. It's not an issue with the cable, as I have another phone that also runs android and is able to transfer files with the same cable with no issue. PTP mode works but for whatever reason, laptop registers my shit vivo but just sees empty folders when it CLEARLY shows like 11 gb is occupied and no files are hidden.
I've tried to restart the computer and update drivers; I'm up to date but I notice that when I plug it in, I get a little exclamation mark on device manager for "ADB interface". I'm not sure if that has something to do with my issue but trying to update it fails. Anyways, I also tried to clear cache for the external storage app, rebooting, USB debugging mode, switching from PTP to MTP, having phone unlocked... Nothing works. I've also tried to use an adb and fastboot tool but since it's not an .exe I have zero clue on how to use it...
Besides this INFURIATING issue, phone functions normally. I'm ripping my hair out here and praying this doesn't get ignored... Please let me know if you need further information.

I recently read a piece of news about young people in South Korea pouring into temples to escape from reality. This article is written in Chinese, I have never traveled to South Korea and can't verify the authenticity, so I post it here to ask for help. Is it real or is the media in China speaking ill of your country to transfer domestic contradictions? The following is the full article:

Outside the mountain temples, a chilling atmosphere is spreading. White-collar workers in South Korea are now bringing their own lunch boxes to work because the cost of eating out has become unaffordable. They feel like half of their salary goes toward meal expenses.
Sandwiches and triangular seaweed rice balls in convenience stores are sold out by noon, and instant noodles have become a staple in offices. On social media, Koreans refer to it as "lunch inflation." Even post-meal coffee has become a burden, as high-end coffee shops are almost empty, and more people choose to drink instant coffee at the office.

What used to be an ordinary dish like pork bone soup has now become something they only eat when someone else treats them. Grilled pork belly, a popular Korean dish, has become a luxury. Even the lettuce that was once provided for free during barbecue meals now comes with a fee. Despite the decreasing number of customers, prices continue to rise, and everything seems to be on a train veering off track.
In May this year, pork belly prices in South Korea increased by 11.4%, while black bean noodles increased by 12.5%. According to data from the Korean Statistical Office, the rate of price increases in the food and beverage industry is at its highest level since May 1992.

It's not just food and beverages that are seeing price hikes; electricity, water, and gas prices in South Korea increased by 23.1% in October of last year, and in May of this year, electricity and gas fees rose again. Electric fans are now the best-selling appliances due to their energy efficiency.
Unable to afford takeout, frozen vegetables and pre-packaged sauces have become popular, and the sales of pre-packaged meals have quadrupled. College students are also changing their eating habits from three meals a day to two meals a day.
A student from Sookmyung Women's University said, "Nowadays, I can only spend my weekends sitting in cafes all day, unable to do anything and unable to afford anything."

I'm from a small European country. I use a local insurance firm for my house and small business. Most people in my country now choose multinational firms but I think it is a little more personal, my agent is my neighbor, he helps us out with rates that are more favorable and such. Last year, I went on a month-long holiday to the US with friends to hike. Normally I don't bother with travel insurance, but for such a long trip, I decided to purchase it. It was actually very expensive to buy through the large companies so I asked my agent if he could write me a travel insurance policy, he agreed.
This turned out to be a right decision, just a week into the trip, I was involved in a severe car accident. I had to be airlifted to hospital and needed multiple surgeries for fractures, the removal of my spleen and part of my colon. In total I spent over a month in ICU and also needed extensive physiotherapy in hospital to become well enough to travel home, and yet more physiotherapy when I actually got home.
Months later, I got a bill in the mail of over $1 million for my surgeries and hospital stay. I was shocked but contacted the insurance company to file a claim. Almost immediately after I contacted them my agent called me and pleaded me to not file. He said the company could not afford to pay it out and that it was a mistake because they did not frequently write travel insurance they wrote my policy too broad so they would be obligated to cover my whole bill. This annoyed me a little bit--of course I was expecting it to cover my whole bill, what is the point of buying insurance that does not cover the bill! He attempted to persuade me to simply ignore the bill and most likely the hospital could not come after me here, he said if I filed the claim the bill would still not get paid but the only difference is that all their other clients would also get screwed because the company would have to declare bankruptcy.
After thinking I still decided to file my claim because it did not feel right to me to screw over the hospital and the doctors who took good care of me and I did not want to become persona non grata in the US, and I thought surely a company with probably thousands of clients has a contingency for this. However shortly after the company actually announced bankruptcy, it even became a minor news story in my country. My country has protective laws so that clients can still get their claims paid, but they have to make an application to the government which could take months. A friend of mine was nearly done processing a claim for his house that burned, now he is back to square one, and he can only get 1/4 of what he was supposed to get because the government caps the maximum coverage. In addition all the employees of the insurance company are now on leave and most of them are probably losing their jobs. Everyone who had their insurance are now in limbo and scrambling to get new policies. And of course the amount I could apply for from the government is not even close to the amount of the bill. I feel as though I have caused a mess.

As much as I would like to build my own, i don’t have much time to learn and get it ready, so I’m doing the unthinkable. I’m talking laptops here, because I know nothing and that’s all I’ve looked into so far, but I’m open to a desktop. This is a big buy for me that I’m hoping will help get me though a rough year.
My budget is between $2,000-3,500, after tax. It’s not just a gaming machine but gaming is how I’m justify spending so much. I don’t want to be wasteful, I just don’t want to wish I spent more since this may be all I have for a few years.
I need a decent CPU, although im not sure what that really means for me, 13th gen i9, i7 and where more budget options like a Ryzen 9 7845HX (laptop) would fall on that list? I need something that can handle lots of windows, fast searches through large libraries, multitasking, programs running at the same time, maybe even some light editing, all without too much effort.
As for gaming, I can’t tell if a 3080ti or a 4080 would actually be better for gaming or in what circumstances they excel, for example what is better at 150w or 175w? Would a 4070 be enough? I definitely want the framerates and to hold them for as long as I reasonable can as time goes.
I’m not sure what prebuilts have better, more reliable displays, cooling, less noise, and really want to stay away from companies that have a habit of pumping out lots of lemons, since I do need it soon.
Is there anything else I should be thinking about? I love to hear your thoughts, what desktops or laptops you would get in this position. Thank you to any who read and shared time and knowledge. Even just a link. Hope you all are well.

I've been seeing this guy for a month and I like him but I'm fairly allergic to his pets (dog and cat). When I pet his dog or his dog licks me I break out in hives and a rash. We haven't gotten intimate yet but I think his pets sleep on his bed so I'm terrified of the aftermath of that one. Just being at his place doesn't bother me it's only if I come in contact with either animals' hair or saliva.
I like his dog, but was thinking about telling him I won't pet his dog due to my allergies, is this reasonable? One issue though is the dog jumps up on me and licks me so he would have to stop the dog. I also don't want to hurt his feelings bc he loves his dog. Then when we get more intimate I might ask if he could put on clean sheets on the bed before we start fooling around. FWIW, I do think there's relationship potential hence why I'm thinking of all this now.
Thoughts on this plan? Would love any other advice!

I want to preface this with one thing — this grief in particular isn’t attached to someone that passed away. While it is a different kind of grief, I want to give it recognition since grief can be a multi-faceted, layered, and complex experience that isn’t always directly tied to the loss of a loved one.
My heart goes out to those who are grieving the loss of a loved one right now, especially those currently in a heavy wave of grief. I hope you can sense the presence of your loved ones, and know that love is not limited to any time or any distance.
…. Now I guess to explain what I meant by the title above …
About 8 years ago I lost someone who I had loved more than anyone in this world. With this person I felt safe, calm, empowered, vivacious, and I felt like all of my life and all of the pain I had previously endured had led up to meeting this person. I felt as if everything before was worth it, no matter how heavy or dark the pain, because I had met someone who brought overflowing love to every aspect of my life and being. I was a better person in their presence, and together we lit up a room.
Some things changed, however. We were young, boundaries were crossed (we moved in together as a result of me needing to leave a toxic roommate situation, and we then became codependent), I was introduced to more of this persons struggles, and I watched them dissociate while I could do nothing to reach them. I felt this person push me away, so I made the choice to leave their life. I was so hurt I didn’t notice the love was still there. I thought the love would dissolve.
Over the next three years, on three numerous occasions, we reconnected. We were never truly intimate during these times of reconnection, but on the last time we admitted we were still in love with one another. We admit that our love was different than any kind of love we had experienced. We admit that there were songs that haunted us, that reminded us of one another and caused us to avoid listening to those songs. We admit there was still energy lingering between us, that no matter what we couldn’t shake the other person.
We reconciled, and within a matter of hours I noticed they were still dissociating and very self destructive. I immediately had my guard up, but I also knew while that person had their own problems there was also something I couldn’t be fully honest about unless I knew we were going to proceed. I had previously done something to attempt to escape the grip the lingering love had on me. I had done something that I had intended to end or sever our love forever, something that I assumed they could never reconcile with me after learning of this. I wanted permanence and an end, and I also wanted to protect myself, and protect both of us if we were truly not supposed to be together.
I had waited so long to reconcile, I was going mad. I was so incredibly lonely and I just wanted the pain to end. I wanted someone to connect with that understood my grief, because this person had ignored me even when I knew deep down they loved me. I was in agony.
We parted ways again, after almost fully reconciling. That was 5 years ago. The person I thought I knew appeared to no longer exist. I thought I could move on, and thought I could accept they were no longer who I had originally fallen in love with. I thought I could accept that our once healthy, abundant, overflowing love-filled dynamic was no longer a reality, that it had shifted and had become something unhealthy.
I last spoke to them right before the pandemic. I reached out, terrified of what was to come, and they responded with bitterness. The same response I got for years. The same bitterness I saw them give to their ex back when I was with them — bitterness with unresolved feelings.
Since that time, three years have passed, and it appears they have moved on. I don’t feel it to be true though, and I want one of my close friends to tell me I am crazy for feeling this way. I would even be okay with my ex telling me I am wrong, that he has moved on. But I feel like I can’t reach out, even if to apologize for not being fully honest in the past.
It’s going to sound maddening, or like I am mad, but I feel like thoughts of this person haunt me. It’s not like the grief of a loved one who has passed, where at least you are happy to just feel their presence and know they are with you forever. Instead, it feels like my heart is sometimes living outside of my chest. It feels like my life is fraud and as if I threw it all away just because this person had substance abuse problems and unresolved trauma. I was worried I would lose them forever in an accident and be left with our hypothetical kids to raise by myself, but instead it feels like I chose a life of loneliness while still deeply tethered to this person who I ended up losing anyway.
It feels like I just hurt this person and sabotaged any future we could have had together. I feel so guilty and like I owe them an apology, not for leaving them but for what I did after to attempt to end the love.
This grief has weighed over me for so long, I have gone through stages of wallowing, depression, numbing, and for the past two or so years I have just idled in a stage of anger. It hits me in the middle of the night 3-5x a year at its heaviest. There hasn’t been a day that has gone by that I haven’t thought of this person. I have even mirrored their behaviors, consciously and unconsciously. I have lost friends partly due to my inability to let this go. I have actively tried to let this go for years, through a number of exercises.
I can’t imagine not ever talking to this person again, and yet, because of their ability to hold a grudge, I don’t think they will ever reach out. If my life were to end, or come close to ending, it would be mainly memories with them that would flash before my eyes. This person unlocked so much of my heart, and connected with me for what feels like a lifetime. There has been no one since that has even come a fraction as close to doing that.

i had a best friend throughout middle school and early high school which i was very close with. we cried together, laughed together, and had an amazing friendship. she was like an older sister to me in the way that she would look out for me and do funny things together. however as the years went on, her mental health and demeanor changed dramatically. she has bipolar disorder, and i always tried to help her in tough situations, but over time it seemed harder and harder to help her or be there for her. she had started becoming way more impulsive, rude—she was always a very blunt person but it became a problem when interacting with other people in which she didn’t like, picking up bad habits, and overall very toxic to be around. i had made it clear to her that our relationship had changed and we weren’t as close as we used to be, in which she agreed, but she still continues to reach out to me when i really don’t want her to be involved in my life anymore. i still worry about how she’s doing but i’m trying to move on and not let how her life is doing affect my own. i hate to avoid her, but i feel as if it’s the best option for me when she causes me more distress than enjoyment to be around her. am i the asshole for trying to break ties?

So wife had C-Section, and LO are now entering their 4th week. MIL has been staying with us since LO came home. It’s starting to get frustrating on how controlling she is.
Now let me pause and say, how much I appreciate my MIL with how much she has helped us, it’s been a blessing. I love her and have a great relationship.
I’ve already returned back to work but am lucky enough to work from home. So when working I help out with the little things, prep bottles, make breakfast, feed dog, cleaning up etc. Once I get off work I pick up the slack tell wife to get some rest while MIL and I watch the LO. At that point I feed, I clean, I put them to sleep. I’ll do that until 1-2 am until I wake up wife so she can rest.
So since the beginning my MIL has had a say in everything my wife does, from how to feed to which way to whipe there bum. My wife isn’t even able to go outside for a walk. My wife hasn’t spoken up as she is afraid that she will hurt her feelings.
There is moments where I’m holding the baby and MIL will snatch the baby away because he is crying while feeding. I’m the father let me figure it out. (This is my rant now). God forbid I hold the baby without having a blanket over my hands so baby can sit on. She just starts saying how we aren’t supposed to do this or that and this causes that. We can’t even bathe the LO she has to do it cuz she don’t trust us.
At the beginning I was all about it. My ears were wide open but at a certain point we can figure it out. Now I’m not the type to talk back to my elders, but I am getting an attitude now.
I’ve told my wife you need to draw the line in the sand with your mom it’s causing to many issues and now it’s affecting my wife and I. But she is unwilling to talk to my MIL bc of fear she will hurt her feelings.
I don’t know what to do anymore…
Edit: I guess I just feel that I’m not getting the chance to be the father I wanted to be… no issues with my MIL but something needs to be addressed.

I’ll let you research and explain how parity bits are used in the transmission of ASCII data.
Question 10 An important parameter of logic gate circuitry is noise margin. What exactly is “noise margin,” and how is it defined for logic gates? Specifically, how much noise margin do digital circuits exclusively composed of CMOS gates have? How does this compare with the noise margin of all-TTL circuitry? Answer: Noise margin is the difference between the acceptable voltage limits for corresponding input and output logic states. Notes: This question, to be answered properly, involves more than just a definition of “noise margin.” Students must first discover that there is a difference between voltage compliance levels for gate inputs versus outputs, then recognize that the difference constitutes a “margin” that imposed AC voltage (“noise”) must not exceed. They must then present their answer in terms of manufacturer specifications, obtained in datasheets. In summary, there is a lot of research that must occur to answer this question, but the results will be worth it! Question 11 In Claude Shannon’s famous 1948 paper entitled A Mathematical Theory of Communication, he opens with the following statement: “The recent development of various methods of modulation such as PCM and PPM which exchange bandwidth for signal-to-noise ratio has intensified the interest in a general theory of communication.”
Explain what Shannon was referring to when he said, “exchange bandwidth for signal-to-noise ratio”. In many cases, the superior signal-to-noise ratio of digital communication over analog communication is the primary reason justifying the much greater complexity of digital communications equipment. Also, elaborate on how bandwidth becomes sacrificed in order to achieve relatively noiseless signal transmission. Answer: Digital signals are highly resistant to corruption from noise, because they are composed of discrete (“high” and “low”) states rather than continuously-variable quantities as analog signals are. However, in order to communicate any significant measure of digital information in serial form, many pulses are needed. This requires a high-bandwidth data path to be comparable in speed to analog. Notes: Shannon’s language is perhaps a bit above the norm for technician-level education, but it nevertheless captures an important quality of digital communication: that the noise immunity enjoyed by digital communication comes at a price: high bandwidth. Without a high-bandwidth medium in which to exchange digital information, communication is either slow or completely impractical Question 12 Suppose an analog-digital converter IC (“chip”) inputs a voltage ranging from 0 to 5 volts DC and converts the magnitude of that voltage into an 8-bit binary number. How many discrete “steps” are there in the output as the converter circuit resolves the input voltage from one end of its range (0 volts) to the other (5 volts)? How much voltage does each of these steps represent? Answer This ADC (Analog-to-Digital Converter) circuit has 256 steps in its output range, each step representing 19.61 mV. Question 13 What is meant by the word resolution in reference to an ADC or a DAC? Why is resolution important to us, and how may it be calculated for any particular circuit knowing the number of binary bits? Answer: The resolution of either a digital-to-analog converter (DAC) or an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) is the measure of how finely its output may change between discrete, binary steps. For instance, an 8- bit DAC with an output voltage range of 0 to 10 volts will have a resolution of 39.22 mV. Notes: Note that I did not hint how to calculate the resolution of a DAC or an ADC, I just gave the answer for a particular example. The goal here is for students to inductively “work backwards” from my example to a general mathematical statement about resolution.
There are actually two different ways to calculate the resolution, depending on the actual range of the converter circuit. For the answer given, I assumed that a digital value of 0x00 = 0.00 volts DC and that a digital value of 0xFF = 10.00 volts DC. If a student were to calculate the resolution for a circuit where 0xFF generated an output voltage just shy of 10.00 volts DC (e.g. an R-2R ladder network where Vref = 10 volts DC, and a full-scale binary input generates an output voltage just one step less than Vref), the correct answer for resolution would be 39.06 mV. You may want to bring up such practical examples of resolution as the difference between a handheld digital multimeter and a lab-bench digital multimeter. The number of digits on the display is a sure clue to a substantial difference in ADC resolution. Question 14 Answer: An important feature of microprocessors is the use of flag registers. What, exactly, is a “flag”, and what are they used for in microprocessor programming? Identify some common machine- language commands that set flags, and some common commands that read flags. Flags are single-bit registers in a microprocessor set according to the results of an operation. Arithmetic and logical operations are common examples of commands that set flags. Conditional operations such as “Jump if Zero” are based on flag status: that is, the status of certain flags dictate what a conditional operation will do.
Question 16 What does the normal status of an electrical switch refer to? Specifically, what is the difference between a normally-open switch and a normally-closed switch? Answer The “normal” status of a switch refers to the open or closed status of the contacts when there is no actuating force applied to the switch. The arrow symbol is not difficult to figure out, but it is essential to know when working with time- delay relay circuits.

Choose from the following list: Static RAM (SRAM) Mask ROM PROM Dynamic RAM (DRAM) EPROM Magnetic core Answer: EPROM would probably be the best choice. I’ll let you discuss this with your classmates and with your instructor, though! Notes: This question is multi-faceted. Students must consider volatility and ease of updating (the data), as well as simply applying the concept of a look-up table to a car’s engine control computer, in order to intelligently answer this question. Question 22 Explain the difference between static RAM (“SRAM”) and dynamic RAM (“DRAM”) memory technologies. Which type of memory technology provides faster access of data, and why? Which type of memory technology provides the greatest storage density, and why?
Answer: Static RAM provides the fastest access, while dynamic RAM provides the greatest amount of memory per physical volume (storage density). Follow-up question: how is refreshing provided for dynamic RAM chips? Is this something taken care of internal to the chip, or must the circuit designer provide external circuitry to refresh the dynamic RAM chip’s memory cells? Question 23 Two very important concepts to understand when working with digital memory devices are address and data. Define each of these terms in your own words. Question 25 Digital computers use a numeration system with a base of two, rather than a base of ten as we are accustomed to using. It is much easier to engineer circuitry that counts in “binary” than it is to design circuits that count in any other base system. Based on what you know of numeration systems, answer the following questions: How many different symbols (ciphers) are there in the binary numeration system? What are the different place-weight values in the binary system? How would you represent the number “seventeen” in binary? In our base-ten (denary) numeration system, each character is called a “digit.” What is each character called in the binary numeration system? Q: In the past, the team had stated that there would only be human/humanoid killers in the game. Obviously with the Stranger Things license, a killer really could not be humanoid, especially given the seasons released at the time. However, with the release of Dredge and now Singularity, we have now gotten a few original monstrous killers. What changed with the design philosophy of DbD that allowed this to happen, and can we expect further creative visual designs like them in the future?
A: Well well, I'm not saying this is a lie, but the fact we said we would only do humanoid was not a design philosophy but more because of technical/scope limitations at that time. If you've been with us for a while, you probably remember us saying we'd put Christine (the car) and Cujo (the dog) in DBD if we could. Every worthy bloodthirsty creature has a space in the world of The Entity!
So what allowed us to do so? We levelled up! The team is bigger, more experienced all thanks to the growth of the community of course! Characters with different structures are definitely going to happen again as we continue to explore more possibilities in DBD.

Q: Whatever happened to the promised Twins rework? It was talked about to be the next killer update after Legion/Ghostface though we haven’t heard anything about it and afaik Twins are still plagued by many bugs as well.
A: Due to limited space in each release and the unexpected complexity of the update needed for the Twins, the update has been delayed a LOT longer than we wanted. :D However, it's been designed and we are working on releasing something in early 2024.

Q: Hi! Glad you guys came by to answer questions. My question in particular is about map design. I primarily play killer, and sometimes it feels like the outcome of a game is decided before it even starts depending on what map I end up on. Either when chosen via offerings or by RNG.
When designing maps, what, if anything, is done with structure and layout to make maps fair for both sides?
A: The intention when we create maps is not to favor one side more than another.
This is why we currently want to rebalance the maps. We are using data collected and feedback we get from the Community. We have started in the last year to rebalance the maps and we are going to continue and be active when it comes to maps that already exist and same with newly released maps. We want to bring the best experience for everyone to enjoy.
Example: the Raccoon City Police Station , split, the update in the Junkyard and soon Farm maps.

Q: What was the real reason you removed Maurice initially? 🤔 I know it’s a pretty unserious question but I’ve always been curious.
A: Honestly, when Peanits saw The Dredge's lobby animation with the suspiciously familiar-looking horse head flopping out, he jumped on the opportunity.
He posted that animation on our social channels with a caption that read "MAURICE NOOO" and the community's reaction was immediately huge. So much so that we decided to to push the joke all the way, removing Maurice from the game. And the rest, as you know, is history.

Q: What is it about the new survivor, Gabriel Soma, that makes him stand out from his fellow survivor cast?
A: Gabriel is purposefully designed so that most of us can relate to him, even though he lives in a time period that is very otherwordly to us.
The hardship he faced (even before going in The Realms of The Entity), his resolve and resourcefulness make him a fun character to play. Gabriel is also our first survivor from a possible future, making his wardrobe quite unique and pretty cool if you are into sci-fi pants and space shirts.
His story is not over, there are more unrevealed truths about Gabriel. And he's very good looking: Shirtless Gabriel when?

Q: How long, from concept to release, does it take to design a full killer? Not including perks, survivor, or map, but just the killer and their power?
A: It fluctuates (depending on the weather!) but in general about 11-12 months overall from start to finish.

Out of curiosity, were there any other concepts that the team was considering as powers for the Singularity before deciding on biopods, or was this what they set their sights on right away when brainstorming?
A: The Pods were in the concept from the beginning.
Originally, the Killer had two mechanics it could use: One involved shooting the Pods to teleport to Survivors and the other one allowed it to shoot Survivors to teleport them to its location.
Ultimately, it was deemed exceedingly disorienting on the Survivor side so we removed it and brought back more opportunities for the killer to Teleport later in the creation process.

A: I can't give you any super-secret details but I can tell you that he's on our radar for killers to update.

Q: Has there ever been any thoughts on adding alternative game modes or queues? Of course this would be a massive undertaking but I'm curious if it's ever been given any real thought. A ranked mode or mode with different rules like draft picking perks or anything honestly would be really cool to see.
A: It's an idea that has always been in the back of our minds. I can confirm this is something we are actively prototyping. We plan on starting small and doing game modes as limited time modes and building up from there. We are hopeful that we'll have more to share with you all later this year!

Q: With the seemingly new trend of original/licensed survivors getting lobby voice-lines, can we expect to see this implemented for previous survivors aswell? So survivors like Dwight, Meg, Claud, David etc.? And would this include the possibility of original survivors interacting with each other similar to the Resident Evil survivors and Renato/Thalita?
A: Never say never. DBD is a game in constant evolution and past content is still living and evolving with it :)

A: We are actually exploring the offerings and their system as a whole right now on the design team! I can't give you any hints about what might be changed or where we might end up yet, but we are exploring new effects and actively designing ways to make this system better overall. :)

Q: will mobile cosmetics be ported in anytime soon?
A: We will start porting some mobile cosmetics over, starting sometime in the next year.
The first batch will be small, with just 4 outfits (2 killer, 2 survivor). Also worth noting they won't be a 1:1 port. We will make some small colour and/or texture changes before being brought into Dead By Daylight.
Lastly, to manage expectations, there will be some mobile outfits that never get ported over.

Q: Is there a reason more survivor emotes haven’t been added yet? It feels like a no brainier since you could make a fortune from selling them and it’s not like it’d break immersion since this game is long past that point now (look at some survivor and even killer cosmetics)
I feel like even small things which could be sold like hand gestures and stuff would be such a nice addition with time however things like dances would be amazing, even better if killer could do them at some point
A: Survivor emotes was an idea we played with many years ago. We even got so far as to implement a few of them in a prototype build. Unfortunately, we found them to often either break immersion, or encourage negative gameplay behaviours. For that reason, we haven't revisited the idea for a number of years.
Never say never, but survivor emotes certainly won't be coming anytime in the near future.

Q: Was there anything noteworthy that stuck out to the team when designing The Singularity? I love his design and I would like to get to know more about how he was designed.
A: It was a weird concept and not an easy sell as a great power originally.

Although while prototyping we managed to make the pods usable in chases and realised their versitility, that is when it started to shine.
We could see how much fun and potential there was in the concept.

Q: The mori for the Singularity is probably the most that a survivor has been actually maimed. It's brutal, disgusting, and I absolutely love it. However, it has been previously stated that moris have to avoid actually doing too much damage to a survivor's body for various reasons. Is this still within those limitations, or did something change that allows the team to make more brutal moris? And can we expect the possibility for some more of that brutality in the future?
A: We're glad you loved the mori, we do too, it was a blast to create! On the level of brutality and gore, there is one thing that we keep in mind except for the actual technical/scope feasibility of an idea. One of DBD's core pillars is that we want to be an horror that is accessible to all. This means many things for different facets of the game, but in this case it means that some brutal actions and level of gore may make the game inaccessible in some regions! We don't want that.

Q: Will there be any plans to have more diversity in body shapes of survivors? Would love to see some more plus size representation
A: Inclusivity and representation is very important to us. Body shapes and height is quite challenging at the moment due to technical limitations and gameplay components / metrics. Thank you for letting us know that this is important to you, every voice count.
Q: Are there any plans to make Custom Games easier to set up for tournaments and other events?
It's been years since the introduction of "Custom Matches" and we haven't really had any new settings since. Options to limit item & add-on rarities, options to enforce non-duplicated perks on all Survivors, better spectator controls, etc... Any of these things would REALLY help to make DBD events faster to set up and more viewer-friendly.
A: This is a topic that has recently made it onto our radar, and one we can clearly see the value in. The Custom Matches features has been left untouched for far too long. Unfortunately, it's still too early to give an ETA on when you could expect to start seeing some of these improvements in the game.

Q: What caused the sudden shift to add more clutter and obstructions into the new maps and reworks? In my experience it causes nothing more than frustration for both sides.
A: Hey great question! As clutter you might be referring to two different things, so I'll do my best to answer both meanings.
1- Clutter as in more objects making navigation more difficult. As our team grew during the graphical rework, a lot of details were added to make the maps richer. Lots of lessons were learned during those days (and we are still learning) on what elements and metrics makes it difficult for navigation. Our level design team is actively working with the environment artists to make sure each asset found in a map (colliders, vegetation, etc), especially when it comes to navigation, follows game metrics.
2-Finding objectives/visual clutter - As the graphic fidelity evolves in DBD so does our gameplay need to evolve in terms of visual elements, which have not always followed. We are looking into that one now. The idea is to have level of priorities in how easilly perceivable elements are on the screen. This pass will make gameplay elements POP compared to the details that are great, but less important to manage your objective.

From the level design perspective, we are in the process of addressing the clutter issue. the focus is clarity, readability and navigation. We had this issue with the Toba Landing in PTB and are addressing that in next week's release. We will revisit all maps and themes and make sure it makes sense for everyone.

Q: Regarding individual killer balance, will you start taking feedback from people who have spent countless hours playing them? If at least to see what they want out of their killer without being unbalanced.
A: Our external playtesting methods and processes involve a large variety of player types, all of which range widely in skill level & experience in the game.
Veteran players with many hours in DbD have super valuable feedback, especially when it comes to breaking our rules and exposing balance issues.
It's important to point out though that beginner, intermediate and casual players also have important contributions & insights to share that we need to also take into consideration and use to balance our designs.

Q: Thanks for doing this AMA.
In the recent public test build, you guys tested out a buff to Pyramid Head which gave him the ability to torment survivors hit by Punishment of the Damned. You guys understandably walked back this buff as it allowed for some unfun situations for survivors. In the following developer update, you revealed the reason for testing this change was that you were looking for additional ways to let Pyramid Head apply torment. This would lead me to believe that the balance team has been looking to buff certain elements of Pyramid Head's kit.
I also would be kicking myself later if I did not take this opportunity to mention his addons. Pyramid Head's addons, aside from the range addons, do not feel like they impact his gameplay much at all when compared to other killers. His iridescent addons, while unique, are too restrictive in their requirements to get much value out of them. If you're looking to do something to Pyramid Head, which is the impression I got from the recent PTB, it seems that the addons would have been the first thing considered.
So can we expect any more attention for The Executioner going forward, or are you happy with the spot he and his addons are in?

Q: As the game continues into its 7th year, I think the community deserves an official comment from the devs on the flagship killer, the Trapper. The character who is on most, if not all advertising, and is perhaps the most recognizable killer in all of Dead By Daylight’s original roster has been the worst killer in the entire game for years, by an increasingly significant margin. Unlike any other killer in the game his power requires full minutes of setup, can be easily countered by good communication, and depending on the map can just entirely cease to function due to no/sparse/thin grass. Most new maps released in recent memory have no grass whatsoever, and are so large that it can add an additional minute or two just retrieving your power, which again, no other killer has anything close to that level of setup time.
All of that to say that for the Trapper, things just seem to get exponentially worse with every update. Does the dev team have any plans on reworking or updating the Trapper, which in my opinion he desperately needs? Or will he stay the undisputed worst killer for years to come?
A: I hear you. It's been a topic of conversation across our teams, but at the moment we do not have significant gameplay updates planned for Trapper. Partly because our data shows that his kill rate is pretty much where we want it to be (on average, even at high MMRs) but also because he holds a very important role as one of the simplest and easiest killers in the game. He's great for onboarding new Killers and we don't want that to change too much.
That said, we do have a small but very fun update in the works for our terrifying flagship killer! Those of you who watched the Anniversary broadcast may have seen the segment about the Naughty Bear Legendary skin coming for Trapper (which will have its own unique Mori). This will ship later in the year, along with a killer update.

Q: In the past, the team has stated that maps take by far the most development time out of anything else in the game. How long does it usually take to make an original map such as Toba Landing/Dvarka Deepwood, from concept to completion? Also, how difficult is it to modify maps once they are in the game, such as adjusting the strength of loops, changing tile spawn logic, or even changing the size of the map?
A: To answer your first question: Depending on the style of the map, it can take up to 6 months to create.
When it comes to updating and modifying existing maps, we collect data non-stop and are always investigating player concerns. To use Toba Landing as an example, player feedback during the PTB helped us identify & implement certain adjustments on loops and map visibility that will be going to Live servers.

Q: For original chapters that take place around different nations (Chile, Japan, Brazil, among others), and even around different periods of time, what’s the process like for the research and implementation of different elements to properly represent that in the lore and even inside of their respective maps?
A: Inclusivity and diversity is always top of mind for us, with a focus on making sure the representation we have in the game is as accurate as possible.
We have multiple steps in our creation process that ensure due diligence in this regard: internal & external consultation with regional partners, extensive research, and immersion are some of them.
A recent example would be with Thalita & Renato characters' cosmetics, which were designed by our very own Brazilian artist!
Fun fact: She's the one who thought of including the Caramelo tattoo on Renato's arm :)

A: I can tell you're dying to know. (sound of crickets) Nevermind...
No, we are not planning on making that part of the base game.
If you are referring to the Finisher Mori, we tested that in the PTB but it was an early prototype test. There was a lot of feedback and we are still working on that feature, but again - we are not planning on putting Unbreakable in the survivor base kit.

Q: Can you tell us a bit about the process the team goes through when deciding to nerf/buff an addon?
It feels so frustrating seeing certain addons getting a nerf for being popular (e.g. Twins: Toy Sword, Nemesis: Marvins Blood, Hillbilly: Engravings) when other addons are so weak/situational they are rarely worth using.
A: This is a question that has been considered heavily within our design team in recent months. We are continually learning where our priorities need to be when it comes to live balance and our process is changing as a result. Recently we have shifted to an approach that rests on three foundations:
Design Intent
Community Feedback
Data and Statistics
We watch for issues on all three of these fronts and prioritize from there. We are also cautious about vetting our changes with the community management team to get a read on how our updates will be received before release.
Some decisions (especially those based more on data or design intent) may not always be 100% clear for everyone, and that's okay. That said, we want to be attentive to the needs of our community and what will be most healthy for the game longterm.

Q: Admist the PTB testing there were a few concerns regarding Made for This, particularly in regards to its interaction with Hope allowing survivors to keep pace with 110% killers like hag during the endgame.
Is this something the team is aware of, and will they be continuing to monitor Made For This for balancing purposes when the chapter is live?
A: We are aware that Made for This has had quite an impact.
We're going to be watching out for feedback and data once the community has opportunity to test this.
We already have plans to address Made for This (like we had for Hyperfocus) if and when it becomes a problem.

Q: Will the black bubble after hooking someone be adressed soon? I like the effect, but in a ton of scenario's I cannot see if the killer is going towards me, even with the effect of kindred.
A: The intention of the bubble's design is to hide the Killer's exact position after a Survivor's been hooked.
However, it is an old design so maybe it's time for us to review if its use and appearance are still ideal.

The statistics based approach for balancing has been a huge pain point the past 7 years.
A: While data is crucial in balancing in general, it is not a substitute for player or design feedback.
Our approach to balancing is a bit more complicated than this, and I can say it does not solely rest on game design.

A: We would love for all the killers to have this feature, nevertheless licensed content will sometime have limitation out of our control. We might get a track for all of them at some point, but no promise. Shape already as a unique music track! So enjoy that in the meantime!

Q: I think many people would agree with me in saying that HillBilly needs some addons adjusted. But also, why is the overheat mechanic still a thing? It's pretty much a "non-factor" and there are addons to increase the overheat limit anyway.
A: I feel you. Billy occupies a squishy (albeit violent) place in all of our hearts, and we've been working on him! An update has been designed for our Billy-boy (including addons). No specific date planned for implementing this just yet, but you can expect news from us sometime in the next year.

Q: Question for the art/design team: in the lore for Hux and Gabriel, it mentions that Gabriel damages Hux pretty severely directly before they are taken into the Fog, with flesh melting off his frame. Is the look for The Singularity we see in game the result of that damage, or is that pre-facemelt? If it's the former, is there any chance we might see Hux's original, "perfect" design he had for himself as a skin? Or was the lore even fully complete while you all were working on his design?
A: Hux's look in the trials is post-melt incident! We wanted to make sure we offered a good level of body horror with this character. We might see its "prime" look later, but keep in mind that even this would be horrid, The SIngularity is using flesh in a very wrong way.

A: Puppers' passing has been a huge loss for our whole community and has been deeply felt here on the team.

Q: Why has the map team not advanced substantially in the balance department in the past few years? The community has been clear in that the maps are unbalanced,yet it seems the dev team simultaneously understands the issue i.e Nerfing Eyrie yet released Red Forest 2.0
A: We began the work some time ago, but recently the speed at which we're able to push it forward has been greatly improved thanks to new hires & resources on our team. Now, we're able to tackle urgent day to day tasks while simultaneously making regular progress on live balance for existing maps.
Regarding the Eyrie of Crows, the intention of our balancing efforts there was to address how strongly Survivor-sided it was. We're still monitoring the results though (data and feedback) and we wont hesitate to go back for more tweaks if we feel that they're needed.
When it comes to Red Forest, we frankly just didn't have the ressources at the time for the scope of work required. Now that we do, I've scheduled an update for both Mother's Dwelling and Temple of Purgation that will hopefully address player concerns.
Q: Any plans on improving daily rituals? A permanent 60K BP instead of the 30K we're getting now and the ability to choose between survivor or killer rituals would be nice

Q: The Swamp realm had a unfinished map featuring a village structure, as well as the Bloodwillow tree from the artbook, possibly related to The Wraith back when he was still part of the Swamp Realm. Is there any plans in the future to bring this map as a playable one in Dead By Daylight, maybe with a visual upgrade of The Swamp?
A: The tree will eventually make its return to The Swamp.
However, at the moment, we're focusing our efforts on bringing visual & gameplay updates to existing maps. In The Swamp realm specifically, we're going to remove the generators in the corners of tiles, as well as some elevations that don't have a significant value add gameplay-wise.

Q: The Skull Merchant is a polarising character currently. Are you happy with how Skull Merchant turned out? Do you plan on any future revisions for her?
A: Skull Merchant has problems on live and we are very aware of that. We feel the killer is fun and interesting in general, but there are some unfortunate playstyles that make her kit frustrating to play against. 2 things to say here:
She is getting an update. We are currently trying to determine when that can go out - stay tuned. 2. Her most oppressive games tend toward the 3-gen strategy. This is problematic in our game as a whole, but especially against certain killers (Skull Merchant being the most egregious). We are currently working on a systematic solution to deal with 3-gen games, which will ALSO help with playing against the Skull Merchant.

Q: Will BHVR fix the visibility issues? My girlfriend is color blind and cant see most colors (no the color blind features don’t help her) so it’s a bit depressing for her to realize that she’s at a significant disadvantage when playing the game. Even for me its hard to see sometimes!
A: We are definitely ramping up our attention to accessibility in our game. It's unclear if/how we will adjust our support for colorblindness in the near future, but I can say we have a dedicated UX designer heading up our accessibility efforts and you can expect to see more accessibility-centered features coming out in the future.

Q: The Shrine of Secrets is used as a way to make all perks accessible to players who do not want to spend additional money for the game other than the cost of the base game, but with over 200 perks in the game now, that system is not a reliable way to acquire specific perks. This leads to arguments that players who are willing to pay extra are given an advantage over others since meta perks can be locked behind that paywall.
What are your thoughts on replacing the Shrine of Secrets with a menu of teachable perks that can be purchased at-will for the same price they currently cost on the Shrine? What are reasons that a system like that would not work?
A: I can definitely say that the problems with the Shrine are no secret.
We are very aware that the system needs an update, however it remains on the backlog for now, which means its on our radar but not being actively worked on yet. We will hopefully get to it sooner rather than later.

A: That's absolutely something i would love to do.
We don't have any plans to do so yet, but i'd love to add maps on a few existing realms. Ormond for sure, Grave of Glenvale comes to mind as well.

Q: Are there any plans to unlink currently linked sets for original characters?
A: Short answer: No.
Long Answer: Original characters cosmetics are locked for technical reasons. Having them mix and match would cause bugs and a variety of clipping issues or gaps in their modesl at the waist or neck lines. Unfortunately, for these reasons, we have no plans to make them unlocked in the future.

It was only a small company with not many reviews. I could have ordered from a larger one but if reviews are good for small ones, which these mostly were, I usually want to support smaller companies if there is the option between them.
There were only 22 reviews on trustpilot so a poor sample size however I have not had issues with other small stores and you can get bad customer services with large or small companies I think. It can work either way: small company could be inexperienced and unprofessional or they could go out of their way to help and make a good impression. Larger company could be lax and have a 'too big to fail' attitude or have a reputation to uphold.
Well I see now this one is probably just a dropshipping person maybe working out of their bedroom from the looks of things judging by what I have gotten from them so far. Firstly the item came in some totally unrelated cardboard box which implies it was just what they had around the house rather than a proper company. Second the emails have been extremely slow and when I got the one and only reply they said they 'have to talk to their supplier' which I think means they are trying to sort with the dropshipper. Just guessing.
Either way it took them like 2 or 3 days to respond first saying the above and now they haven't responded for days again even after asking for an update.
So should I just send it back via recorded delivery and inform them that I will be doing a chargeback?

Hi there, just started with Rover. I had a friend wrote testimonial for me. Within the first week of joining, I’ve had 3 requests for boarding and pretty much my calendar for June is filled.
Yesterday I’ve had another request for the exact time period I’ve got another dog boarding already (and my profile is set to take only 1 boarding at a time, I even set the daycare to 0 manually when there’s a boarder), so I had to turn down the owner.
I live in fairly large property with its own fenced garden. I have a Labrador retriever of my own and I made sure my dog and the boarding dog get on well during the meet & greet. At present I don’t take 2 dogs from different families unless they know each other well and they get on well (ie regular clients maybe for walking).
Going forward though, it seems in my area people only use Rover when they need to board their dogs (while owners go on holiday) and their usual arrangement has failed (fully booked). So far I have not received requests for dog walking, drop ins, or daycare.
I do WFH and when I have a boarder all the dogs (mine and boarder) sit by my feet in the open kitchen/dining/living area while I work. Maybe if I tidy up a spare room, I can allocate that as space for another dog, so if the 3 dogs need space I can put one there? But the one in the room without me might cry though!
Any advice? I see the boarders in my area take multiple dogs like 4 or maybe even more! Could you give me some tips?

Tldr I think my uncle is a pedophile and I don't know what to do
I'm fairly new to this whole posting for help but have recently found myself in a horrible delema and can't possibly do anything about it for some info I'm 15 and my family (,mom,dad, brother18,other brother14 , sister10) Live with my aunt and her 2 sons we all get along REALLY well as we grew up always having sleep overs around every week and always went on vacation with each other now my uncle whos always been in our lives as he has shared custody with my aunt this they work around it differently see my uncle is an illegal imagrnt and so when he and my aunt broke up they didn't actually divorce and he stayed in our lives solely because he's a great dad who pays for around 80% of my aunt's funds for her kids and she herself can't work due to being on the spectrum so she receives money monthly for her and her eldest son as he's also on the spectrum and is slowly going blind in one eye due to problems involving birth
Now my cousins go to stay with him every other week and he pays for everything but eversince there breakup he's found another women who already has kids and he still manages to take care of both families partially due to the monthly income from the states checks now the delema starts with the fact that we're living with them as of 2 years and he pays for half of the mortgage water electric and likewise bills while my parents pay for the other half ,it's a 4 bedroom house with 2 living rooms one when u enter the house and that's the room we made as my room my other siblings stay in the other shared room with a bunk bed and a normal bed they have there setups and everything we own a cat and a dog I own 2 ferrets that stay in my room (well taken care of)and my 2 cousins have there own rooms while my aunt has her own room that leaves my parents they sleep on couches in the 2nd living room which is connected to the kitchen and it's been like this for 2 years

Well after that day 1 week passed I was feeling very anxious and decided to go on a walk with my much loved mom all good but when we got back 8:??pm he was at the house and we greeted him well her but he seemed to notice I was down and decided to "spoil me " so he sent my mom 100$ and we went to Walmart and bought me sum books (mangas) and got sum snacks spent the rest on my ferrets and we bought sum cleaning supplies allls good right??
No cus 3-4 days later he comes to pick my cousins up 1 by one for them each to get 1 week with him to work and make money I thought it was nice so made a joke out of it and he said "oh well if you want I can take you with me but just for 2. Days and you'll have to be alone cus it's 1 by 1 " so I was weirded out and let it slip a bit cus u know "uncle would never" and so let it be but the next week he came by I jokingly said "I'm gonna need a pass to let you in any I'd?" And he replied by "KISSING ME ON THE HEAD" might not seem like a lot but dude doesn't even do that to his own kids and the last interaction u had with him didn't end well so ever since then I would avoid hime as I felt weird and dunno a bit scared to see what would happen next and BOY was u right now and behold 1 week later he pops by I see him park it's 7ph suns down and I decided to act like I slept early to avoid the guy I didn't want to see or talk with him after everything

He found his time and between the 2 minutes no one was near (everyone in their room ) mom and dad were at my step grandma's house ) he went and closed my door(curtains) I could tell do to it being like a shower curtain the roll in part but actual thicc curtains so no one can see pass ( my choice due to not liking the light pass through from the hallway )he layed down right next to me I was sleeping on my left side facing the wall he went and sorta spooned me but in a way where you are trying to be carful as to not wake them up and afterwards he sniffed my hair ?? I updated drivers, restarted, and even tried doing a co-op game with my brother to see if it was because of large maps and large amounts of real people (as opposed to bots). Nope. Still crashing at random times during every game.

Is it a must go stop if visiting or have never been before? YES.
It’s extremely unique and has a very different vibe to almost anything I’ve been to before. I went on Wednesday night so it was dead and the bartenders were very attentive and cooperative. I’ve heard on here and the bartenders that it gets extremely busy on weekends so be warned.
No menu is certainly interesting, it’s always fun to leave your fate in someones hands when it comes to what to drink and this place exemplifies that. It’s truly a unique and rare experience that needs to be done at least a few times.
The vibe is incredible, dark missy lights with smooth old school musics playing, old registers, old dress ware on the employees etc. it’s incredible and really gets in the chill cocktail mood. I will most certainly go again and it’s something to remember.
TLDR: the drinks were okay (for my taste) the craftsmanship and knowledge of the bartenders is next to none and is incredibly stunning. However, for my tastes I think the tied house in the third ward nails it a little bit better. I will most certainly be back and pop in every now and again solely for the vibe and knowledge of the tenders. With a few improvements I think it could really stand out.
Review: My favorite drink is a classic old fashioned (not Wisconsin AKA not muddled) I used to enjoy the muddled version but as I’ve grown on bourbon I enjoy a more bourbon forward drink. I ordered this to begin with and base my additional orders off of.
Classic old fashion: I’d give it about a 7/10, it was good. The right amount of bourbon to sugar ratio. However, they lacked with the no orange peel garnish, which is a huge miss IMO. They also don’t use one single large ice cube, they use traditional ice, which really dumbs the drink down after the initial sips and in a way ruins it. IK they are an old school place, but their cocktails would benefit from large square ice, round ice etc for these types of drinks.
Manhattan: I’m not a big Manhattan fan (I think the vermouth tastes like black licorice which I don’t like) but due to the way it’s served ( no ice in a a martini glass) the bourbon was much more forward so I liked this more than the classic old fashioned.
Franks drink: the best one I had while there. It reminded me much more of a classic old fashioned, I think they use orange bitters + another citrus element and it’s served in a martini glass to avoid the dilution that is seen with the classic old fashioned. IMO this is more of a classic old fashion then if you were to order one directly.
The herb- my girlfriend said to the tender that she likes Moscow mules and then her next favorite was a mojito. The drink that was given to us was perfect. It was a combination of the two in the sense. It had that ginger beer bite of a Moscow mule but that refreshing minty flavor of a mojito, it was an amazing drink that I would recommend to anyone.
