Greetings, ladies and gentlemen! I have returned once more with yet another healthy dose of chiptune warfare. If you're not aware or haven't seen, I've lately been hosting chiptune contests each month here on chiptunes, and alas, a new month has begun! This month's theme is...

Dramatic Break! This month, rather than a more general, emotion-based, interpretive theme, we're going to experiment with one that revolves more around a specific musical feature in the song, that being a dramatic break. Make a song that has a substantial pause bridging two other parts, creating a grand, dramatic effect!

Here's how this will work. You'll have two weeks to submit, starting today, Wednesday, June 7th (well, that's technically an hour behind for me, but I digress). This means that the final deadline for submissions closing is Wednesday, June 21tst. Halfway through, on Wednesday, June 14th, I'll make a reminder post to hopefully draw in more participants and to remind those who are already participating in the contest. If you'd like to be notified anytime there's a new post regarding the contest, either leave a comment below saying so or join our Discord with the link at the bottom of the post. Your submission must be chiptune, but what exactly this means is very open-ended - we will gladly accept true chiptune, fakebit, fusion, and everything in between! We've even accepted a song made in the style of Animal Crossing, and come to think of it, I've never rejected a song for not being chiptune. The submission form is here - please let me know if it's broken or anything is wrong with it.
As for the theme, we typically go for something more interpretive (e.g. "Battle" or "Dance," both past themes), but this month, I'm experimenting with something different per the suggestion of one of our Discord members (see below if you want to join). Your song must have some form of dramatic break in it, though as always, what exactly this means is entirely up to you. Go wild with your creativity - that's what makes these contests special!

Part of my childhood trauma was rooted in evangelical Christianity. It was believing I was going to hell if I stopped believing in Jesus. That God will abandon you and throw your soul into eternal fire, if you mess up, was firmly pressed into my mind.
My church growing up also got a bit amti-Islam following 9/11. But this I mean I was subjected to nonstop rants about the supposed evils of Islam that I know now to be entirely false. In fact almost nothing about what Evangelicals want politically is any different from the "sharia law" that became their Boogeyman.
I was in a play at age 12, where my character is a little girl who dies with her mother in a car accident. The mother was someone who went to church regularly and was a good person, but she didn't really believe. So when they die, she's separated from her child (me) and dragged to hell by Satan. Little girl goes to heaven and meets Jesus.
Anyway I was severely traumatized by acting in this play. I had nightmares about the guy playing Satan. During this time I wasn't eating or sleeping well and became terrified of the "End Times" and became briefly obsessed with finding signs of them everywhere. So basically they infect entire populations with a kind of mass schizophrenia. You start being suspicious of little things like song lyrics. And I remember being TERRIFIED of the number 666.
I also remember reading a book, which I didn't believe in even, but it explained that evolution wasn't real and that dinosaur fossils were made by Satan to deceive people 🤦‍♀️. Even then, as a kid,.I rber thinking that must be ridiculous.
Anyway so with experiences like that and more I won't even get into here, I think it's fair to say I was religiously traumatized.
So why is it that I can't block religious and specifically Christian ads? I can't enjoy any site if I'm just going keep being pestered by them. And I know I could use as blockers but that is not the point. The point is, Reddit should have policy in place that lets trauma survivors block traumatic ad content and that's not one of the options to select so I always choose "offensive" but that seems so belittling to me...

The scale of the floods caused by the destruction of a huge dam in the Russian-controlled area of southern Ukraine on Tuesday is starting to become clear.
Satellite images show how much water has already spread down-river from the Kakhovka dam - although flood waters may not yet have peaked in the city of Kherson about 75km to the west.
Images from Nova Kakhovka on Tuesday showed buildings surrounded by floodwaters hours after the dam was destroyed.
It is unclear when exactly the dam was first damaged or how it happened, but satellite images suggest its condition had deteriorated over a number of days.
A road across the dam can be seen to to be badly damaged from 2 June, but there did not seem to be a change to the flow of the water until 6 June when the breach of the wall and collapse of nearby buildings can be clearly seen.
The city's Russian-appointed mayor Vladimir Leontyev said the village of Korsunka - about 15km west of the dam - was completely under water, with flooding up to roof level in three other villages.

Are any of you here familiar with reptiliandude? He claims to be a reptilian and has some of the most interesting posts I've read on reddit. This one in particular stood out because he makes the claim that there are no alien species in Pleiades, which is a system many here claim to be from. Any opinions?

So, what's happening?

Last week, reddit announced significant upcoming changes to their API that will have a serious negative effect on many users. There is a planned protest across more than a thousand subreddits to black out and go private for 48 hours (at least) on June 12th.

• Third-party reddit apps (such as Apollo, Reddit is Fun and others) are going to become ludicrously more expensive for their developers to run, which will in turn either kill the apps, or result in a monthly fee to the users if they choose to use one of those apps to browse. Each request to reddit within these mobile apps (e.g. to load posts, make a comment, or upvote anything) will cost the developer money, and the developers of Apollo were quoted around $20 million per year for the current rate of usage. The only way for these apps to continue to be viable for the developer is if you (the user) pay a monthly fee, and realistically, this is most likely going to just outright kill them. The end result is that if you use a third-party app to browse reddit, you will most likely no longer be able to do so, or be charged a monthly fee to keep it viable.
• NSFW content is no longer going to be available in the API. This means that even if third-party apps continue to survive you will not be able to access NSFW content using them, but rather only via the official reddit apps or desktop site. We are not sure in how far this could effect our subreddit, and if it only applies to whole mature content subreddits or also individual posts marked as NSFW.
• Many users with visual impairments rely on third-party applications in order to more easily interface with reddit, as the official reddit mobile apps do not have robust support for visually-impaired users. This means that a great deal of visually-impaired redditors will no longer be able to access the site in the assisted fashion they're used to.

Why This Is Happening?

In case you didn't read our previous thread or many of the others around the site from other subreddits already announcing their participation, the "Explain Like I'm Five" version.
In short, reddit's trying to close down their platform by limiting API access and there can be a variety of reasons attributed to why. They're trying to assure mod teams that our tools will have minimal disruptions, but this post on /AskHistorians shows that the admins don't have a great track record with their promises and have continued to make our work as moderators more difficult.
There was a call between admins and some developers earlier Wednesday with the general outcome there being no willingness to change; reddit's planning on making another public post about it on reddit later this week.

An open letter to reddit

In lieu of what's happening above, an open letter has been released by the broader moderation community. Part of this initiative includes a potential subreddit blackout (meaning a subreddit will be taken private and users will be unable to see any posts) on June 12th, lasting 48 hours or longer.

Hello Reddit,
I've recently accepted a job offer now that I have graduated uni that will be relocating me to the other side of the United States. Back at home, I have an older cat (~12 y/o) that I have been only able to see during my trips back home since I have been living with roommates that neither wanted animals in the house and in locations that were not cat friendly. I plan on moving into a studio or 1 bed apartment in my destination city.
The issue I run into is that my cat has been living with my parents and dog (which was added to the family 1-2 years later) and has spent most of his life in a rather decent sized house (multi bed/bath). With all of the beings around the house, he's never really by himself with the dog around. I will be living by myself and be commuting into work 3 days a week for 8+ hours a day and then go out from time to time for various necessities or events. Not only would he be subjected to a new, much smaller environment, he would be by himself for extended periods of time on an almost daily basis.
My folks want him out of the house to come live with me. I would obviously love to have him as I care more for that angry ball of fur than a lot of other things in life, but I have these worries that all the new stresses, new environment, and greatly decreased amount of living being interaction will quite frankly tremendously decrease his life and/or make him miserable in the process as I understand that cats despise change.
I'm so torn about what to do.

This isn’t a post about how boring these games are, the fact there’s a small market team, or how there’s no real superstar in these Finals. I think this has a been a really great finals. If I didn’t know the NBA scheduling pattern by now, and was simply a casually viewer, I’d have no idea when the games are. I’ve heard from so many people that they didn’t even know Game 2 was last Sunday because they were use to the pattern of a game being every other night and there hasn’t been a flood of advertisements regarding when the games are going on. I don’t know if there’s a metric but, it feels like there is less promotion of this finals compared to last years.
The presentation has been abysmal, and that might be more on ESPN/ABC. As we know, ESPN has abandoned the classic NBA Finals intro that use to air from 2009-2013 showcasing NBA Finals of the past. ABC also decided to not showcase starting lineups and not have presentations around the stars so the casual viewer can get familiar with the who they’re watching. This may seem inconsequential since we know who Jimmy Butler and Nikola Jokic are, but, again, the casual viewer has most likely seen 7 Nuggets games at the max and Miami had few nationally televised games.
I remember watching the 2010 Finals and seeing backstage interviews presented during the game with Paul Pierce talking about being a Laker fan and how much being in this rivalry means to him. Michael Jordan talking about what a long season it’s been and how a championship would feel so rewarding. I get it Jokic doesn’t like interviews, but we can’t even get that with Jamal Murray.
The announcing has been putrid but that’s been covered on this Reddit all week. Just feels like the NBA is doing a disservice, especially for a series featuring the best player in the league.

So this guy and I were coworkers. He was/is pretty shy, quiet type. I’m somewhat the opposite, I’m also a mixed bag of social, antisocial and I tend to be the outgoing person. Anyways, I had just started this position at this job. I was stressed and trying to quit smoking but was itching for a smoke(gross, I know!) No one on my manufacturing line had a cig I could have on break. One person told me to ask our “Runner” who is the person to stocks our lines with components. So as he went to walk by to check my area, I said hey (J)! He looks at me and completely shocked that I even know his name, I proceed politely asking him for a cig on break. He nods yes and then quietly walked away and goes back to his job. Fast forward to break, I met him outside and we had our little smoke break. He was super quiet the whole time, and I thanked him and we went about our shift.
Another day or two went but by, didn’t say anything to each-other. Then one evening before the end of the shift I seen him jamming out with his air pods in. Whatever he was listening to I was curious. So awkwardly I looked him in fb, did a little creeping, making sure he didn’t have a s/o (didn’t wanna cross boundaries) and proceeded to push the “message” button. I asked him, so what kind of music do you listen to at work to help time go by?
An hour later he responded. Didn’t question me about how I found his fb, didn’t act weird about it. We started talking about music. And video games, and from then on we kinda opened up a little. We started hanging out after work, a few times turned into almost every night. He seemed interested but still shy and kinda awkward about it. We talked and it kinda turned into a fwb thing. It was fun, and interesting. But a apart of me knew I was starting to get feelings, fast.
After a while I started to bring it up. He kept telling me, I just wanna be fwb. Which to me seemed like a red flag. But I couldn’t help myself. At this point we had been talking for a little over a month, and decided to go on a little road trip. It was super fun and freeing, but something was missing. He wasn’t super big on pda which is nbd but I felt like I wanted something more. Fast forward to a few months, we took another road trip, this time a week long one. It was epic, I loved it! I didn’t want it to end. He seemed really happy and seemed to have a great time as well. We get back to his place and finally looked him in the eyes and said…”I don’t think I can just be fwb, I’m way too attached and if this is going to be a thing where it’s continuous, we might as well just date!” He thought about it for a minute and agreed. He had feelings, he just didn’t want to admit it. Time went on and he ended up starting a new job, as a truck driver, which was stressful. One night he was acting kind of distant. I figured it was stress wearing down on him. We sat there and I asked him what was up. He said “I don’t think we should do this anymore.” I was crushed, not understanding why after things were going so good that he would do this to me. I sucked it up and said okay, I understand. Even though my heart was breaking I stayed strong. We continued to talk, I called him everyday when he was on the road, talked for hours. Then he asked if I wanted to go for a ride along in the truck.
So here I go on my first ride along, to another state, another adventure with this guy whom I had hard feelings for. That night as we stopped for his 10 hour break, we did our usually little physical intimate thing. He seemed content afterwards. Then I broke, realizing that after we go back home, it could be the last time of possibly not of seeing him, spending time with him. I cried, and I broke open to him. He felt bad, he knew he had hurt me. A couple weeks went by and we didn’t talk much. I needed some time to think and some space. Wondering what did I do wrong? One morning I wake up and see he’s online, so I message him. He reads it, takes a second and responds. We started chatting like normal. He tells me he’s home and wants me to come over. Thinking this is just a hookup session and I’d leave heartbroken, but I wanted to see him, I needed to see him.
I arrive and I realize from the look on his face that he’s not doing so well. I ask him what’s wrong? He says”I made a mistake.” Confused I ask him what he means. He tells me that he missed me and was pushing me away because he didn’t want the space to ruin things down the road and didn’t think I’d stick around. But, I did. I stuck around, even after he broke my heart, even through every stressful day of his new job, I didn’t go anywhere. I didn’t pursue anyone else. I stuck by him. Fast forward again, two years in and we have had a few bumps along the way, and stressful situations. I’m now a truck driver with the same company and I get to see him more than I did before. Our relationship has grown so strong and from the quiet shy person he was when I met him to the most loving, sweetest, funniest guy. I wouldn’t give him up for anything! I lay next to him tonight typing this and thinking back to this guy who was an onion, peeling each and every layer over time and I have discovered what’s underneath. I’m so thankful I stuck it out, I’m thankful I waited because this love he has shown me is the most amazing feeling in the world! I cherish him, and still everyday, I’m obsessed with him. I never would have through this guy would be able to love me like this. Like no one ever has!

From my time on Reddit and well, life, I've come to understand that this isn't what 99% of women think of when they picture a "relationship". I get this is rather different but frankly I've been giving it more thought lately and feel it's time I began looking for "The Two". Of course, things like these take time and that's okay - I'm in no hurry. At its heart, what I'm seeking is a long-term (FFM) throuple bond. But I'm open to more if things develop beyond us three. I'm equally happy starting a bond with one bi(curious)/heteroflexible woman too and then progressing it into a throuple later down the line.
Here are some things I'd like to make clear first:

1. This is NOT a threeway or "moreway" fun post. I'd like to build a friendship amongst all partners first and genuinely get to know you.
   
2. By friendship, I mean emotional intimacy as much as the physical. Maybe we could explore our hobbies together. I'm into traveling, sports, photography, language, cats, and more.
   
3. Think of this post as looking for "The One", whereas I'm in search of "The Two" (or more). Two or more amazing women who believe in the same miracle as I do.
   

So yeah just throwing this post out there first. I know it's not a conventional monogamous relationship and many people here aren't into that, and that's okay too! But if you're a like-minded soul who likes doing things a little differently from society, then I'd love to hear from you!
