2023.05.31 17:16 ZeiglerJaguar 4-bet rip AKs preflop for 100BB in a cash game from out of position?
This is probably pretty basic poker, but ...
Playing $1-$2 from middle position, AhKh, open to $8, button raises to $30, everyone else folds. I've got a little over $200 in my stack. I don't have much of a read on what kind of player the button is -- it's, like, my 10th hand of the day -- but he does cover me.
I do the stupid thing and flat-call, which I realized later was incredibly dumb because if I miss the flop, I'm not the aggressor and it'll be hard to defend. (Sure enough, that's what happened -- a bunch of middle cards roll out with no hearts, and I check-fold to a chunky flop bet.)
Should I have just ripped that? Blockers to AA and KK, so it's probably a flip at worst, and there's a fair chance I dominate or just take it down preflop? I think I got scared about risking my whole stack on a day when I'd hoped to play for several hours, which probably makes me a shitty player at too-high stakes ($1-2 is a lot when I mostly play online $0.25/$0.50, but I try to mix in occasional live games).
Would you have jammed or just 4-bet, and to how much? Trying to learn from my mistakes.

2023.05.31 17:11 ChilliPepperx Why does CPU in FIFA 23 refuse to shoot from outside de box or even attempt crosses when their in the side line?
So I´ve actually Bought FIFA 23 about 3 days ago because I found that Epic Games had an amazing discount, plus some cupons, and it was around 15€ in total, overall great deal. Just like many of you, my only interest in FIFA revolves around career mode, FUT never really pushed me, had loads of rage moments and it wasnt really worth it since im not going to waste any money on those stupid cards that come out every week.
Just in order to give you guys some context, me and my brother have been playing FIFA 20 for the past years, we only do career modes and its really ocasional. We either go months without playing or we spam FIFA for weeks straight. I´ve refused to give EA any money until they fixed career mode and made it enjoyable. I´ve only purchased FIFA 23 as kind of surprise because my brother lost all his saves over some PC formating we needed to do.
I play in legendary mode and I think that defending isnt as disgusting as everyone mentions. I´ve made a career on Man United and in about 15 games I´ve managed to keep a clean sheet in half of them. This may be due to me changing that definition where atributes are kept real and not adjusted to the position. I also activate those Team Stars buff which I think is really cool.. The frustrating part is HOW I suffer goals, allways the same passing and cheesy dibbling to get someone 1 feet away from my goalie and fuzilate him.
Continuing this idea, in terms of aerial duels and duels in general I tend to come out on top. In comparision to FIFA 20. At least now I can win balls in the air and corners are viable, I´ve even scored in corners.
List of real Problems that i´ve noticed:
- AI doesnt cross or shoot from outside the box. They will just play those cheesy passes until they have a striker 2 meters away fromt he goal.
- Player swaping is a disaster at times, as I keep trying to choose the player I need, the others that are selected meanwhile have the imput I designed for the one I needed and keep running away from the striker until he has no opposition.
- Game highlights are around 3 per game, which is really not that many, plus the situations they created are repetitive and scrappy.
- AI defenders can allways block shoots from outside de box, somehow they manage to get 3-4 players to teletransport and block your shoot.
- Midfielders dont give a flying f*ck about defending, letting opposition siege my goal until they score or I manage to disarm them.
-Making me do the training sessions to get good grades is really boring and they should have just a simulation based thing like they had before, where it doesnt repeat your best grade.
-My attackers refuse to make runs when I have clear instructions on that.
-Match simulating is kinda trash because neither me or my team controlled by cpu can manage to defend agaisnt those passes and every team gets 3 or 4 gols past my defense no matter how good it is and how bad the attackers are.
-Full backs dont get involved in the attack with overlaps and stuff like that.
Positive points:
- Rashford and Sancho, if given enough space, can outrun the fat Centre backs and Full backs, which is already amazing cuz in FIFA 20 it was impossible, no matter what stats your players have they allways catch up.
- Star of the team buffs are cool and make it more challenging (Di Maria in juve and Immobile in Tottenham were hard to deal with, as they should)
- Crosses and Corners are somewhat Viable.
- Great aesthethics and presentation.
I might be forgetting stuff and plus, I´ve only played about 3 days of manager career and these are my first impressions. If anyone has any idea how to make the AI cross and shoot from distance instead of Dribbling and passing thru my defense please share. Thanks for reading.

2023.05.31 16:41 MrC_Red [Update] 100 Great Rock Albums list CHANGES
It's been over a year since the original 100 Great Albums post. Since December 2021, I've listened to 375 Rock albums in total (just for fun, I'm getting paid for this!). Looking back at the original albums, I noticed I have a few with only 1 or 2 listens, whereas now I always try to aim for 3 at the minimum. So as this is a good midpoint (as I plan on stopping at the 20th post), I decided to revisit these certified classic albums and maybe upgrade/downgrade the ratings after more listens. I'll continue to edit grades on other posts if my opinion changes on them later on, but the 100 list got so popular that I feel like it should be left unedited.
Here's the format: Album (year) original grade [orig. Listens] // NEW GRADE {additional listens}
- Bob Dylan - Freewheelin' Bob Dylan (1963) B+ [2 listens] // A- {1 listen} More time to digest his lyrics only makes it better. Hard Rain, Blowin in the Wind and Masters of War are still the best here. He had the wisdom and poise of a 70+ year old man, as a 22 year old...
- Bob Dylan - Bring It On Home (1965) A- [3 listens] // A+ {2 listens} I can't overemphasize how great side two is of this album is. The songs aren't as musical as side one, so the lyrics are center stage and Bob Dylan ALWAYS captivates your attention. The electric guitar side is even better than I originally thought, but man does the second side has some of his best songwriting.
- The Beatles - Help! (1965) B+ [3 listens] // A- {1 listen} This is the album where I think they started making legit "respectable" music. The early Pop music they made before is nice, but it's not that fulfilling. The variety made this age very well: Hide Your Love Away, Ticket to Ride, Seen a Face, Dizzy Miss Lizzy, Help!, Yesterday. It doesn't help that every album that followed it is considered one of the greatest albums of all time, but at this point, it was head and shoulders their best.
- Beatles - Rubber Soul (1965) A++ [5 listens] // A+ {4 listens} Highway 61 Revisited gets the credit as being the album to kick off the Rock renaissance of the 60s, but imo, the "album arms race" started with this one. Without it, the musical landscape isn't the same as the concept of an entire album of worthy material wouldn't have been as widely adopted. With the praise out of the way... it's pretty one note. A great Folk Rock album, but as it's often compared to other albums (cough Pet Sounds), it doesn't hold a candle to them.
- The Beatles - Magical Mystery Tour (1967) B+ [3 listens] // A {3 listens} This is fun, bro. No it's not a legendary album, hell, it's not really a fully formed one as it's really a soundtrack compilation album. But looking at all the songs, they're just fun. Even a half assed Beatles album is still incredible (no I haven't listened to Yellow Submarine, why do you ask?).
- The Doors - Self-Titled (1967) A- [2 listens] // A++ {3 listens} Wow, this is why multiple listens are super important. Many of the songs I thought were "so so" are so much better compared to other Blues Rock I've heard so far. Ray Manzarek is a god on the keys and Jim Morrison is pretty magnificent on every song. It still feels dated, as it's not super complex in it's song structure (like in LA Woman), but every song is great. JUST short of a masterpiece.
- The Who - Tommy (1969) B [1 listen] // D++ {1 listen} I was being generous on the original post, I really didn't like this album. After one more listen, I really hate it. The story is complete nonsense and the music really doesn't make up for it. But that's not why I hate it so much; it's the length. If you're gonna be a late 60's mess, be your flamboyant mess and get in & get out. But it's an overly long, drawn out, bore of an album. It's mind boggling that anyone would prefer this over Quadrophena. Pinball Wizard is a great song tho, but don't tell anyone I said that.
- King Crimson - In The Court of the Crimson King (1969) A- [1 listen] // A {1 listen} listening to Moody Blues' Days of Future Passed made this album a better listen. That jazz prog rock, with a laid back feel instead of completely psychedelic. The rest of the album (outside the intro) was a better listen this time around with better context, as I remember being bored with much of it. Now that I'm familiar with early Prog Rock, this doesn't feel as foreign anymore.
- The Beatles - Let It Be (1970) B+ [3 listens] // A {3 listens} yea, I'm a Beatles stan. Yea, it's probably the weakest Studio Era album. Yea, I enjoy the atmosphere of this album more than the music itself; as a last who-rah of a crumbling friendship that can only be held together by creating music, as that is where the only fun is still found amongst these guys. Do I like to pretend that Don't Let Me Down is apart of this album, so I can grade it higher? Also, yea.
- David Bowie - Hunky Dory (1971) A+ [2 listens] // A {2 listens} this is Art Rock. Not being a glam/hard rock fusion makes it less heavy than its successor. It also suffers for not having multiple strong anthems to hold the entire thing. Changes, Life on Mars, Andy Warhol, Queen Bitch are all great songs, but I doubt any are in Bowie's top 5. The other songs don't hold up as much I remembered.
- Carole King - Tapestry (1971) A- [2 listens] // A {2 listens} Joni Mitchell's Blue was the driving force this time around. That personal folk storytelling, with that lively piano yet cozy, warm atmosphere. With more listens, I don't really love the lyrical composition as I just love the tone of the thing. I can sit next to a warm fire (or on a window sill) and turn this on and relax. I understand what the genre of Soft Rock is going for now.
- David Bowie - the Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars (1972) A+ [2 listens] // Masterpiece {3 listens} Probably didn't give this one too much thought when grading it, as I think I just fell in love with a few songs on it and forgot about the rest. Listening to this front to back... it's flawless. I tried to find a song that wasn't good or that was kinda boring, but they're all perfect. I've listened to Ziggy Stardust and Starman COUNTLESS times in the past year, and will randomly get guitar riffs from random songs off this album to pop in my head. Of his 4 albums I've listened to, I still think Low is his best, as the atmosphere of that Side B is unmatched. But this album is what I'd consider objectively perfect, as every song is great. Easy masterpiece, and a great example of why sitting with an album is just as important as giving it a bunch of listens.
- Queen - A Night at the Opera (1975) A- [2 listen] // A {2 listens} Fun stuff. I enjoyed the multiple vocalists being apart of it instead of only Mercury, made it feel like a "stage play" with a revolving cast. I think I might have been a bit to harsh on this one, as most of the album wasn't that memorable, with how amazing Bohemian Rhapsody is. I didn't understand what this album "was" with it's vaudeville style, but now, I see that it's this halfway point between the Hard Rock and the Prog Rock of the 70s, with that theatrical flair to make it standout. Definitely worth checking out.
- Sex Pistols - Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols (1977) B [2 listens] // A- {2 listens} In 1987, Rolling Stone listed this as the 2nd best album of the last 20 years (since 1967) only after Sgt. Pepper's and man, did that made it easy for me to view this as overrated. I think since listening to more Punk Rock that followed this, I start to see how much better they've done with this compared to others. The guitar playing actually changes throughout the song, Johnny Rotten is actually expressive and feels spontaneous, and the drumming is creative. But the real change in opinion is the guitar playing: the riffs on many of these songs are undeniably awesome, which gives Rotten so much to work on top of. My biggest gripe with Punk Rock is how repetitive some bands can be. Now after more listens to this, I can absolutely NOT say the same can be said about this album. It's varied and expressive; how Punk Rock should be.
- Steely Dan - Aja (1977) A [1 listens] // A+ {1 listen} better than I remember. The jazz rock combo is really good, it really leans into the jazz instead of simply using it as an aesthetic. It's not Prog whatsoever, just jazz with traditional Rock instruments. Honestly, you can barely tell if this would considered Rock at all. You really got to like jazz to love this tho. It has that free flowing feel of that genre, from the instrumentation to the flow of the singer. Great album! I'm assuming Steely Dan is hated by the rock community because of this heavy leaning into jazz. Which is understandable, but that doesn't mean they don't make phenomenal music.
- AC/DC - Highway to Hell (1979) B+ [2 listens] // B {1 listen} They haven't quite moved away from the Blues sound yet. Back in Black is a pure distillation of what Hard Rock should be as a stand alone genre, but they don't quite have that confidence in being that brash yet. Bon Scott does a lot of heavy lifting as Angus Young doesn't have that swagger in his solos yet. A lot of the songs aren't super great, but they at least still carry energy. Highway to Hell is a fantastic song, but the majority is just meddling around in this laid back blues style.
- Dire Straits - Brothers in Arms (1985) B [1 listens] // B- {2 listens} I originally wrote this off as one that I "just didn't get", with how insanely commerically successful it is. Now after listening to their Self-Titled album, it actually becomes even more disappointing as you know how much more they're capable of. There's such a signature style on it and this throws all of it away in exchange of a 80s soft rock sound. Walk of Life and So Far Away are good tunes, due to the guitar hooks; everything else is just shallow.
- Pixies - Doolittle (1989) A- [2 listens] // A+ {2 listens} Now, I view this band on the level of the Beatles or Velvet Underground as one of those influential bands that changed music. At the time, Doolittle was too weird for me, but with much more context from this era, this is just insanely great. Compared to Surfer Rosa, the versatility is on a different level. While it is great and varied, it's not exactly "great" in any one area, so I can see why the bands that were influenced by them are viewed as better, as their stuff would've been more focused in one style instead of all over the place. Great album, legendary band.
- Alice in Chains - Dirt (1992) A [2 listens] // Masterpiece {4 listens} This album is a grower. Every time I listen to it, I like another song from it. The harmonies are God tier, the guitar riffs, God Tier, the choruses, God tier. Layne Staley and Jerry Cantrell... peanut and jelly. I've given out 2 masterpieces to grunge albums (Nevermind and Ten), so what makes this different from those is that Dirt takes its time in developing songs. So many of these songs start slow and somber, and quickly turn aggressive and passionate! Gnarly riffs on one song, than a few minutes later, you're listening to soft vocals behind a rough, tortured voice. Not a bad song on here, hit after hit, I got to say it's a masterpiece.
- Nine Inch Nails - The Downward Spiral (1994) A [3 listens] // A+ {2 listen} the word "gritty" might get thrown around a ton by me, but I still haven't heard such a brutal, harsh sounding album while still having pristine production value. It's nasty and mean. Even in the slow moments, you can feel the pain, anger, or sadness in his voice. Compared to other stuff, it doesn't have that much replay value to it, as it's not exact what one would call "musical". But you got to call it what it is: art.
- Green Day - Dookie (1994) A [2 listens] // A+ {1 listen} It's just good music. Yes, the ceiling isn't as high as it could be, but it's so enjoyable that it is always a fun listen. The album is on point from start to finish, it's one of those "if you like one, you like it all" love it or hate it kind of deals. From Burn Out to When I Come Around is just Pop Punk perfection; the backhalf doesn't hold up compared to the start, but it's all still very good.
- Weezer - Self-Titled "The Blue Album" (1994) A- [1 listen] // A {2 listens} I only gave this one listen and only revisited it after listening to Pinkerton. Isn't not as dismissable as I originally remembered, as I only gave it one listen. It's more POP- punk thank pop-PUNK compared to Dookie, which led me to not care for it as much. And it's pretty good pop, with a punk style to give it some edge, I guess. I still like Pinkerton more than it, but it can definitely stand alone as a good album itself.
- Oasis - Definitely Maybe (1994) A [2 listens] // A+ {2 listens} Liam Gallagher is really good... but Noel Gallagher is the truth, bro. That dude knows how to make a great song. They aren't super complex, but they're all have perfect execution. Mix in that Wall of Sound effect with the guitars, it makes this stand out even more from the overwhelming stacked albums of the 90s. The non-single tracks aren't as strong compared to (What's the Story) Morning Glory?, as that album is damn near perfect imo. Great debut album.
- Radiohead - The Bends (1995) B+ [1 listen] // A {2 listens} If Radiohead didn't make this album, I highly doubt I would've listened to this. Which is a shame, because this is a really good album. On the flip side, being a Radiohead album also did more harm than good, as it gets massively overshadowed. I admittedly did a half assed listen to "get to the famous stuff". Fake Plastic Trees, the Bends, and Black Star are great songs. I've listened to Ok Computer so much that I come to think of it as their official "start" of their sound, when in reality, they set the stage on The Bends of what can be possible down the road. Also, they toured with Alanis Morissette with the album, so extra bonus points!
- Arcade Fire - Funeral (2004) A- [2 listens] // A+ {2 listens} better than I remembered. I definitely thought it was borderline pretentious, with how the song structure is when I originally listened to it. Now, without that stigma, it's not THAT abstract and I've come to admire the creativeness of it. I always love when there's women vocalists, to mix up the sound and so many different instruments add even more to the variety. It always feels like a new listen, with how many things I'll forget to notice and remember again.
- Lcd Soundsystem - Sound of Silver (2007) A- [1 listen] // A {2 listens} The first 4 songs are awesome; Get Innocuous with it's multirhythmic layering is my textbook PERFECT song, a 21st century "Remain in Light" homage. The rest just loses this energy and it's never found again. Compare the first track with the last one and it sounds like two different projects. I know you can call me a hypocrite with how much I love Remain in Light, but at least with that one, it's only the last song and not half of the album. Seriously tho, Get Innocuous is a top 10 song of all time
- Tame Impala - Currents (2016) A- [1 listen] // B+ {1 listen} Didn't expect my feelings to decrease, but compared to Lonerism, this is so mid. The lack of a real "great" song (Rihanna's Same Old Mistakes clears) makes it tough to love. It is consistent though, so it's still a good listen; just not a memberable one.
Albums I revisited, but no change in opinion. I feel like with these, I need to explain/defend myself more than I did on the original reviews:
- Beach Boys - Pet Sounds (1965) A+ [4 listens] // {3 listens} After listening to a good chunk of their discography, I've come to two conclusions on Pet Sounds: 1) This album is truly lightning in the bottle as they NEVER reach it's level of consistency in quality from track to track. 2) Baroque Pop, while groundbreaking, came and went as fast as it arrived, mainly due to how abstract it is compared to its successor, Psychedelic Rock. Beyond that, there are a few skips that are solely due to wild creative mind of Brian Wilson. As a musical genius, dare I say better than Lennon and McCartney, but as a songwriter? Not even close imo. Rubber Soul, Revolver, Sgt. Pepper's are all great albums, while Pet Sounds can be argued to be their only great album (Wild Honey is also a good listen). I know bringing up the Beatles can be annoying, but the Beatles made great "hit singles" with their song layout, while about only half of the tracks on Pet Sounds are what I'd consider a traditional song. That's probably why I don't think it's so amazing (I kinda feel the same about progressive Rock) as I tend to favor music with a concise structure; even as unoriginal the structure may be.
- Jimi Hendrix Experience - Are You Experienced? (1967) B+ [1 listen] // {1 listen} I can't get into it. The songwriting isn't there, especially compared to the stuff that would follow it. This is him at his rawest, but it's a reason why Medium Rare is the most commonly cooked steak.
- The Rolling Stones - Let It Bleed (1969) B+ [2 Listens] // {3 listens} Thought I would flip on this album, but surprisingly didn't change at all. I still think Gimme Shelter is the best Rolling Stones song and I still think You Can't Always Get What You Want is still a phenomenal album closer, but everything in between is pretty lackluster (besides Live With Me).
- Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon (1973) A [4 listens] // {1 listen} I do enjoy this album more now I know how other Progressive Rock bands sound like, but not enough to raise it a grade. I enjoy Time and the whole second side much more and the "emptiness" of the genre doesn't bother me as much. But the first half is still a little too abstract for my liking. However, I do see how people can view this as their GOAT album with how groundbreaking it's release was at the time and outside of only other Pink Floyd albums, there's nothing else in this genre that really matches the "entering another world" feel it creates.
- Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here (1975) A [2 listens] // {1 listen} Similar thoughts to DSotM, but this one has the more catchy "songs" and partly why I love it more. Welcome to the Machine and Wish You Were Here are fantastic, but overall not enough meat for my liking.
- The Ramones - Self-Titled (1976) B [2 listens] // {2 listens} I decided to give the Godfathers of Punk another try since I surprisingly came over to like the other Godfather, the Sex Pistols. And yeah... still isn't my thing. Way too one note, monotone singing, guitar takes over too much of the sound, etc. There are a few good hooks here and there, but you basically hear the entire song in the first 15 seconds. Everything I hate about Punk, stemmed from this album and made a lazier copy.
- The Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dreams (1993) A+ [2 listens] // {1 listen} apparently the Smashing Pumpkins aren't considered grunge? If that's the case, comparing them to a Noise Rock band like a Sonic Youth or a Faith No More, they don't they don't rock out as much as I'd like. Also, I don't like how a few of these songs sound similar to each other. Today and Hummer of course are all top tier songs, but it's just not as much of a comprehensive project as Mellon Collie. Yea, it's definitely not grunge, as it would be much harder if it was.
- Radiohead - Ok Computer (1997) A++ [2 listens] // {4 listens} Close, but no cigar. The first 3 songs and the last 3 songs are PERFECT, it's the stuff in between that makes it fall just short. The run of Karma Police into Fitter Happier to Electioneering is also a great moment in the album. Honestly, it's just Exit Music being "okay" that really stops it from being considered a masterpiece in my eyes. Still one of the greatest albums of all time, but not perfect in my eyes. This album is my perfect barometer for an A++ grade; it's objectively a perfect, but on the subjective level, there's nothing that makes me "adore" it. I completely understand how anyone thinking an A++ album I graded is a masterpiece, as I have to personally love it that extra step for it to get to that level.
- Radiohead - In Rainbows (2007) A++ [3 listens] // {3 listens A+/A+/A++} Let me end it on a positive review: I didn't really give a thorough listen to it at first, as I don't remember much from it. Over time, my opinion on it dropped as I truly didn't see why people find it so special as they do. Ok Computer easily has the better individual tracks, Kid A is easily the most experimental. After finally revisiting it, maybe because it's a great midway between the two, with a weird electronic-rock-jazz fusion. Feels like there's not a single wasted second; every beat and note is meticulous. It's more chilled and laid back, which threw me off on the repeat listens. The hodgepodge of electronic and experimental sounds, being used in this traditional lofi style instead of being a fast paced one, was the curve that made it hard to love it at first, but now I think that's what makes it unique in its execution. A LOT of these rhythms could have been large and bombastic, and I kinda admire it's restraint in remaining "down in Earth". Also the album cover is noteworthy, where it feels completely spontaneous, never fully knowing what to expect going in. Definitely deserves its high praise
Albums I also revisited, but no change in opinion. Don't have too much to add on these, but listed them as my grades are concrete on these compared to the ones I didn't choose to listen to:
- The Velvet Underground & Niko - Self-Titled "The Banana Album" (1967) A+ // Venus in Furs maybe one of the greatest songs ever composed
- Cream - Disraeli Gears (1967) A+ // It still holds up, so damn awesome
- Bob Dylan - John Wesley Harding (1967) B+ // yeah, he's kinda rambling on this one
- The Stooges - Fun House (1970) A- // it's "the Stooges", possibly their best
- The Rolling Stones - Exile on Main Street (1972) B+ // Nope, still didn't love it, still a mess
- Elton John - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road (1972) A++ // One I thought wouldn't have held up. I shall never question Sir Elton's greatness again
- The Eagles - Hotel California (1975) B // Great start, gets worst as it goes on
- Patti Smith - Horses (1975) A- // labeling this "Punk Rock" is a nicer way of calling this weird af
- The Clash - London Calling (1979) Masterpiece // Not only is there not a bad song here, but every song is perfect. Not great... PERFECT
- U2 - Joshua Tree (1987) B+ // I can't deny that there are some good songs on here, even if I'll never listen to it again
- The Cure - Disintegration (1989) A // after 375 Rock albums, Plainsong is still the greatest opening track
- U2 - Achtung Baby (1991) A- // you gotta admit Bono is pretty cool on this one
- Nirvana - In Utero (1993) A // love the Bass guitar's tone on this one, rawer contrast to Nevermind. I'm glad I didn't grow up in the 90s, as this will always sound so new and fresh to me :)
- System of a Down - Toxicity (2001) Masterpiece // Similar to Hybrid Theory, if this wasn't labeled as "Nu-metal" (and maybe didn't get so overplayed and copied), even the most pretentious critic couldn't deny how great this is
- Green Day - American Idiot (2004) A+ // Feels almost like a different band, the songs are much more nuisanced in its lyrics and its musical structure. That transition from Holiday to Boulevard still gives me goosebumps, such a great song.
- Arctic Monkeys - Whatever You Say I Am, That's What I'm Not (2006) A++ // a tour guide to the UK nightclubbing/pub scene, way better than it has any right to be honestly
Bonus: Ween - 12 Golden Country Greats (1996) A [4 listens B/A-/A-/A] Country is still a somewhat foreign genre for me and I've been kinda bored with the concept of it. But it's Ween, so they've fully earned my trust at this point so I'll give this a try. This style is more or less my biggest indifference with the genre: it's not heavy enough to be impactful as rock, yet not soft enough to be as intimate as Folk. It's in this inbetween grey area where it's just not super captivating for me. With that said, it's rarely has been the "so bad, I can't stand to listen to it" levels of boredom that it has been made out as. That signature tongue-in-cheek humor of Ween is here and it makes the project more enjoyable. With Ween, whether it's supposed to be satirical or serious, the quality of songwriting is always top tier, so it's very easy to take whatever they're doing with my full respect rather than viewing it as just a joke. Japanese Cowboy, Mister Richard Smoker, Powder Blue, Piss Up a Rope and You Were the Fool (the best one) are my favorites; but other than Fluffy, every song is a good time. What really sells this album in particular, is that none of these songs would sound out of place on one of their other Rock centric albums, which allows me to extend a lot more grace towards it. Pretty good listen. For what it is, it's pretty consistent, but there's of course better Ween albums out there.

| "The Girl Is Mine" October 18, 1982 - 1st single from Thriller https://youtu.be/nbkwDIsDy7o Written by Michael Jackson. Produced by Quincy Jones & Michael Jackson. Duet with Paul McCartney. Recorded April 14-16, 1982 at Westlake Studios This was the first single released off the Thriller album. Although it was one of the weaker songs, it was released first because it was guaranteed airplay thanks to McCartney's contribution, and if they didn't release it first, radio stations would play it anyway and wear it out. Also, it was the first song completed for the album, which they were still working on. This was released a month before the album came out. The next six singles all came after the album, and were all Top 10 hits as well. At the time, many big albums contained a song with a prominent guest vocalist to attract attention. Released ahead of the album, this song gave no indication that Thriller would become the best-selling album of all time. Listeners were not impressed by "The Girl Is Mine", and thought that Jackson's Thriller would also be a disappointment. The public felt that Jackson and the producer, Quincy Jones, had created a song for the white pop audience https://preview.redd.it/mkrniywu143b1.jpg?width=900&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fa14b0069448c8dfb41551caf0e9c460324b9ede The lyrics are mostly friendly banter about who has dibs on the girl. The song was a very safe choice as the first single, since it was very conventional and easy to understand. Jackson was afraid that if he released an edgy song like "Billie Jean" or "Beat It" first, people wouldn't give the album a chance. McCartney was 40 years old and well into one of the most stable marriages in rock (to his wife, Linda, who was present at the recording session), when this song was released. Hearing him bicker with the 24-year-old Jackson over a girl was kind of ludicrous, but there are only so many homosocial duet topics out there. According to Jet Magazine, Jackson wrote the song with McCartney while watching cartoons. Jones had apparently approached Jackson about writing a song featuring two men fighting over a girl. Liking the idea, Michael, woke in the middle of the night one evening and sang the song into a tape recorder. “I sang exactly what I heard in my head, starting with the melody and the keyboard and the strings and everything,” Jackson said. “So, I just orally put it all on tape.” The song was recorded at Westlake Studios, Los Angeles, from April 14 to 16, 1982. The year before, Jackson and McCartney had recorded "Say Say Say" and "The Man". Several members of the band Toto participated in the recording of this song, including David Paich (piano), Jeff Porcaro (drums), Steve Lukather (guitars) and Steve Porcaro (synthesizer programming). Although "The Girl Is Mine" was released as a single, Jackson and McCartney never performed the song live. The single's cover photograph was taken by McCartney's wife, Linda https://preview.redd.it/0d4bl8wt143b1.jpg?width=225&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=46787742be7c50b5ce7dbe70bb237a08949df599 Michael Jackson said: "One of my favorite songs to record of all of my recordings as a solo artist is probably 'The Girl Is Mine' because working with Paul McCartney was pretty exciting and we just literally had fun. It was like lots of kibitzing and playing and throwing stuff at each other and making jokes. We actually recorded the (instrumental) track and the vocals pretty much live at the same time, and we do have footage of it, but it's never been shown. Maybe one day we'll give you a sneak preview of it." Thriller engineer Bruce Swedien told MusicRadar about one of Jackson's studio quirks: "Interestingly, we always recorded with Michael in the dark - he hated light. I mean I would have a little bit of light for him, but the studio was absolutely dark. I think one reason why he wanted this - and why it works so effectively - is that through my study of acoustics and so on, I found that the human being is primarily a visual animal, hearing is our second sense. People can be distracted by too much light in the studio to the extent that it can take away from the music." Despite the song's success, it received generally mixed reviews from critics who considered it to be the weakest song on Thriller. Journalist Robert Christgau described the pairing of McCartney and Jackson as "Michael's worst idea since 'Ben'". Rolling Stone stated that the song was a "wimpoid MOR [middle of the road] ballad" and that McCartney was "tame". Billboard called it a "breezy lighthearted love song capped by some playful superstar banter at the tag." Stephen Erlewine of AllMusic noted that the song had a "sweet schmaltz". Jackson's breakdown with the "irrepressibly silly Paul McCartney" was "disarmingly goofy", according to Stylus Magazine. Salon.com later described "The Girl Is Mine" as a "sappy duet". They concluded that McCartney had become a "wimpy old fart".The song garnered a favorable review from Jackson's biographer, J. Randy Taraborrelli. The writer stated that the song was "cute" but lacked substance. He added that the track had a "middle-of-the-road calm" and was the antithesis of the "rambunctious" "Beat It". https://preview.redd.it/fe7us5kw143b1.jpg?width=1668&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=aab976566d82c3deba2cc729f3f08865c578329e "The Girl Is Mine" has been the subject of two plagiarism lawsuits, the first in 1984 and the latter in 1993. Both instances required Jackson to testify in court, and each lawsuit was decided in his favor. The first legal trial occurred in 1984, with Fred Sanford claiming that Jackson had cut a tape of his song, "Please Love Me Now". Jackson, however, insisted that he composed "The Girl Is Mine". The $5 million copyright suit was closed after the jury of five men and a woman reached a verdict in favor of Jackson. Their verdict was reached after a three-day deliberation. Jackson was not a defendant in the trial but testified to maintain his credibility. James Klenk, Jackson's attorney, praised the singer upon the jury's verdict. "The man is a genius. He doesn't need anyone else's songs. His own words were the key." During the court proceedings, Jackson revealed how he composes his songs. "I put them in a tape recorder and I orally sing them into the tape, and that's how it happens." One juror stated, "His presentation indicated that he was well able to develop his own songs." The song's second plagiarism trial was in 1993. Reynaud Jones and Robert Smith alleged that "The Girl Is Mine", along with "Thriller", written by Rod Temperton & "We Are the World", resembled their musical works. The pair added that they had been childhood neighbors of the Jackson family when they had resided in Gary, Indiana. Jackson, Lionel Richie (co-writer of "We Are the World") and Quincy Jones were named as the defendants. The plaintiffs asserted that Joseph Jackson had received a demo tape from them. From the tapes, the defendants were alleged to have stolen the three hit songs. Reynaud Jones also claimed that he had considered suing Jackson over "Billie Jean". Jackson appeared in court via a taped testimony. Following the testimony, the nine-member jury found Jackson to be the writer and composer of "The Girl Is Mine" in early 1994. They also ruled that the defendants had not plagiarized "Thriller" or "We Are the World" In 2008, for the 25th anniversary edition of Thriller, Black Eyed Peas singer will.i.am remixed "The Girl Is Mine", featuring an original solo demo of the song by Jackson without McCartney. will.i.am added his own vocals and new verse. The song reached #12 in New Zealand, #22 in France, in the top 50 of Denmark and Sweden, and #51 in Switzerland. The remix received generally unfavorable reviews from music critics. Journalist Christopher Rees stated that will.i.am had "done a fantastic job of murdering a classic song". Rob Sheffield of Rolling Stone wrote that at will.i.am's production was "dumb-thug bluster" and criticized him for trying to hide the "goofy 'doggone' hook"—"the whole point of the song". Music journalist Aidin Vaziri wrote that will.i.am "completely erases Paul McCartney's vocal track from the original duet to make room for himself spouting nonsense". Stephen Thomas Erlewine of AllMusic claimed that will.i.am had turned "The Girl Is Mine" into a "hapless dance number". Kelefa Sanneh of Blender wrote that "will.i.am contributes beats (why?) and rhymes (why, oh, why?) to 'The Girl Is Mine 2008'". IGN's Todd Gilchrist stated that will.i.am's "The Girl Is Mine" remix was an offense. The offense was made even more "egregious" by the insertion of his own "atonal vocal presence" in place of McCartney's. Pitchfork Media added to the unfavorable reviews, stating of will.i.am, "He takes Macca off 'The Girl Is Mine' but decides it can't work without someone sounding like an idiot and steps manfully in himself." The Times stated that whoever thought it was a good idea for will.i.am to participate in the song ought to be "locked in a windowless cell with nothing but those songs on a continuous loop". PopMatters, however, praised Thriller 25 and the remix of "The Girl Is Mine". They wrote, "Any album good enough to make you forgive (although maybe not forget) a song as bad as the Paul McCartney duet 'The Girl is Mine' has got to be damn good." They added that will.i.am had put a "breezy spin" on the track and that the song's omission of McCartney did not suffer because of it. Though the remix sampled the demo, The Daily Telegraph alleged that McCartney was omitted because he and Jackson had fallen out over Jackson's purchase of Sony/ATV Music Publishing and the Beatles' song catalogue in 1985. However, the original version of "The Girl Is Mine" was included on Thriller 25 with McCartney's vocals included. Fifteen years after this song was released, Brandy and Monica teamed up for a lyrically similar duet, "The Boy Is Mine," which drew inspiration from this song. It has been covered 28 times And sampled in 11 songs, including: - "Good Good"(2008) by Ashanti
- "Shakiyla" (1991) by Poor Righteous Teachers (1991)
- "Fun Day" (1991) by Stevie Wonder (1991)

2023.05.31 15:34 Echopansy AITA for abandoning my family because they said I "deserved to be raped."?
(It's my first post here and on mobile so please go easy on me.)
When I was 3F or younger my bio dad had taken in his son from a previous relationship 11M eho we will call A and I already had another bio brother with my bio mom this brother will be B who was 6M and then there was me C (Yes our parents named us in alphabetical order)
My 1st memory is brother A sexually abusing me by trying to get me to preform oral on him. Brother B found us one day and told our parents. Bio mom was furious and called the cops. The police took him away that day and a huge court case came of it with my bio dad refusing to help my bio mom and just have us forget it and be a family again but when he lost the case and A was ordered to register as a sex offender on his 18th bday, bio dad signed away his parental rights so A and his mother could move out of state and not have to register.
But that wasn't the end of it soon B started sexually abusing me too and kept me quiet by saying that I'd get him taken away too and break our family even more. That it was my fault A was now gone. Being young and having not been told why A was suddenly gone I listened.
Growing up my bio mother became an alcoholic after the A incident and would verbally abuse me by stating it was going to be my fault she and bio dad got a divorce. That I was an awful and spiteful child who never listened. My bio dad would defend me from her and tell her I was trying my best to listen. But bio dad would also tell me how he may not be able to make rent because B ate so much but would be insulted if I picked out the "cheap" items at grocery stores. He'd tell me all his problems like I was his personal therapist, but when I tried to offer help he'd snap at me.
Fast forward to age 15F. I've been s abused almost every day by B on an almost daily basis sometimes multiple times a day. I finally have enough and threatened to tell. B responded by taking out a small hunting knife and threatened me and the lives of our parents even sneaking into their room as they slept to show me just how easy he could do it. I stayed quiet but he got board of abusing me after that and moved on.
Age 19F. Bio mom has been diagnosed with a server case of "graves disease" and is now wheel chair bound, bio dad keeps making me uncomfortable by making statments saying that he was "disappointed in my lack of a sex drive" and that i "cant let 1 bad experience tuin men for me." He even took me to Victoria's Secret to get 3 paired of bra and panties for my senior year of high school. Dispte me explaining that i had no boyfriend or girlfriend.
One day our house is raided by the police and B is taken away for having child prn on his computer once he's gone I have a moment alone with biomom and gently tell her how B "used to forcefully take off my robe after showers" she demanded I not tell my father and I was crushed. She said it would drive him to kll himself.
22F my parents received a letter from my brother saying he's in a relationship with another male inmate and he's a bottom. (don't ask me why he sent that) bio mom is crushed and says she may have to down him and I lose it. "What he did to me was ok but this is too far?!" My bio mom asks me what I'm talking about "that thing you told me never to tell dad." Now both bio parents are asking me to explain. Allegedly between her sickness and meds she had forgotten that conversation and I broke down. I told them everything.
When I was done my bio parents are originally on my side, but the next day they change their tune. My bio dad wanted me to forgive my brother as "family is all we have" and my bio mother said "it's your own fault for being quiet for so long."
I felt so cold and confided in my best friend who I've know since 15. He was the reason I was brave enough to stand up to B in the 1st place and was my shoulder to cry on. His family were having none of it and helped me steal my birth certificate and ss card as my parents said I didn't need them as I "didn't have a husband yet". and helped me move all my things into an apartment my best friend was renting. I told him of my depression and wanting help I started seeing a doctor. I took Antidepressants and I gained weight but I didn't care I was happy and keeping minimal contact with my bio parents. One phone call changed that though my bio mom told me to stop taking "thoes pills" and that there was no cure for what I had as I "was born that way, and had been a sad kid". And that i should spend more time with bio parents as "its not our fault what you two did to each other sexually." I hung up and had a break down I kept hearing my bio mom's voice screaming my name and hearing it spoken aloud made me flinch.
I decided then and there to legally change my whole name and at 22 asked my best friends mother if I could adopt their last name as I felt THEY were my real family. She said yes as did his dad and me and bf now brother went to the court house. I wrote a letter to the judge claiming domestic abuse and that publishing my name change could pit me in danger of B. He agreed and so my bio parents can't look up my name change in the local news.
I'm 25F now and haven't talked to them since that court date. I get updates from grandma who agrees with my decision and keeps it a secret from bio mom.
Part of me feels guilt over leaving my family to break apart and see them in my dreams of the scattered happy memories I had and wish we could of had.
So for my own sanity, reddit, AITA?

2023.05.31 15:24 LesWaycool Beating 52 games on 52 Consoles (Xbox One, Game Wizard, SNES, SNES Classic, Philips CD-i, Playdate, Atari 2600)
I did a lot of catching up this month. 22 weeks into the year, 32 games beaten on 21 different platforms.
January - Nintendo Switch
- Google Stadia
- Windows PC
- Xbox Series X
- Sega Astro City Mini
February March April - New Nintendo 2DS
- Broswer
- Nintendo Wii U
- Atari VCS
Xbox One
Star Wars Episode I: Racer (Xbox One via Series X, 1999) ⭐⭐⭐⭐ This game was really fun back in the '90s, and it's still fun today. It's a arcade racing game where you race in pod racers. Some of the later levels can be a little frustrating in their design, but I never felt like getting first place was out of reach without practice. There are lots of great little touches.
Game Wizard
Darth Vader's Revenge (Game Wizard, 1995) ⭐⭐ You play as Luke Skywalker, dodge lasers from storm troopers, grab a gun from C-3PO(?) and shoot Darth Vader. Kind of a strange premise for a game called "Darth Vader's Revenge." This was more playable than a Tiger handheld game, but still below a Game & Watch. I'm graciously giving it a second star because I was able to get into the zone and play it for about an hour, which is more than I can say about other LCD games (including other titles on the Game Wizard).
Super Nintendo Entertainment System
Star Fox (SNES, 1993) ⭐⭐⭐ You play as an anthropomorphic fox and his squad of animal wing mates who fly space ships to defeat the forces of an evil monkey space wizard named Andross. These graphics blew my mind as a kid, and still look fairly decent today. This is a fairly quick game but it has a lot of secrets and replayability.
Super NES Classic Edition
Star Fox 2 (SNES Classic, 2017) ⭐⭐⭐ This is just like the first Star Fox, only with more cut scenes, overall strategy, and game play variety. It was fun! Though, maybe a little easier. Definitely worth running through if you enjoyed other Star Fox games. It introduces walkers, freedom to choose your next targets, as well as various stats for different ships/characters.
Panic Playdate
Demon Quest '85 (Playdate, 2021) ⭐⭐⭐ This is a game on the PlayDate where you play as a high schooler solving minor puzzles to summon demons- and it doesn't utilize the crank at all! I thought this game was pretty fun for what it was, and it didn't overstay its welcome. Its brief enough that I may go through it again to check out some of the other stories or endings.
Philips CD-i
Rise of the Robots (CD-i, 1994) ⭐ The CD-i version of RotR is perhaps the worst version of an already terrible game. First, some pros: music by Brian May, cut scenes with interesting character designs. Cons: the fighting is awful in this fighting game. The six-button controls had to be way stripped down for the CD-i's two-button controller (pressing both buttons simultaneously pauses the game). Sluggish, choppy, and weird feeling. And you have to choose between music or sound effects. Kinda fun in an awful way.
Atari 2600
Realsports Boxing (Atari 2600, 1987) ⭐⭐ This is a boxing game with four named characters to choose from who each have their own stats (I think), decent sound, smooth movement, great visuals, and advanced-without-being-cumbersome controls. Stacked up against other Atari 2600 games, I'd rank this one pretty highly. Stacked up against all games? Two stars. This game came out the same year as Mike Tyson's Punch-Out, to give a little perspective.
Repeat Platform(s)
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity (Switch, 2020) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This is a Musou/Warriors type game, set as a "What If?" to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The story is great, the game play is fun, and it can be played cooperatively if you so choose. I found myself wanting to explore all of the side missions and DLC quests. Just a really fun game with cool story that connects to another really fun game.

https://imgur.com/a/TV7BHIm Hi everyone. Have a lot of stuff to post.
First is an armorsource AS501 helmet in medium. It was FDE, has been painted black and fitted with new black team Wendy cam fit and black rails. This is incredibly lightweight. # I want to trade for a large. I will NOT sell outright. Only trades are towards a same/similar helmet in large. TV: $500
Next is a longfri ballistic helmet. This is the last helmet pictured. I’ll get more pics when I get home, only have a pic of the back for now. Size Large I believe. Fits large. Yes, it’s Chinese. There’s a dude on YouTube that’s shot them and they stopped rounds. Probably will have excessive back force deformation, then again, so do ops core, so who cares. In good shape, one scratch on back that’s been touched up. Metal shroud, locks up tight with rhino 2 and a knock off g24. Has team Wendy cam fit liner and HHV pads. These run $200 new and the cam fit runs $130. I would sell this for $250.
Next is a PTS mtek flux bump helmet. It’s new. I’ve tried it on a few times but never actually “used it” on the range or anything. These sell for $130 new. I’d take $110 for it. Will come with box and spare pads.
Next is a brand new, unused set of savior tactical ammo bags. Wolf grey. Would trade for ranger green, camo, or maybe MCB ammo bags. Or would sell for $20. Includes ID tags also unused. sold
Next is single comm sordins. They work fine. They have gel cups. They’re on unity mark/sara adapters for a helmet. The one wire that exits the ear muffs has electrical tape on it. See pics. Otherwise excellent shape. $275 or trade for comtac 3’s or hearing defenders (plus cash my end).
Surefire 600 series scout light pro. The one with the swivel mount. Includes clicky cap, UE cap, tape switch, cloud LCS. Pic rail and mlok adapters. Will trade for FDE light setup. Surefire, arisaka, whatever. As long as it’s a quality light. $300 tv.
Next is BCM stonk. It’s a stonk. $40
Next is magpul slim grip. $20
Next is true north polymer grip stop. M-lok. $20
Chinesium AR folding adapter. Made of metal. I wouldn’t run it on anything but airsoft or 22. It looks a lot like one that rhymes with “paw”. $15
Esstac shooters belt. Multicam blacc. Good shape. With inner belt. Size large. I’m a 36 pants, it fits me, very adjustable. 1.75” because I ain’t no cop. $75
all prices are shipped and reflect PayPal ff or Venmo. You can pay g/s if you pay the fees. Things that are for trade are listed as such. If it says I’m not selling and only trading don’t worsted your time unless you’re trading.
Thanks!

2023.05.31 14:24 Budweizer Dominik Szoboszlai interview - courtesy of u/321142019. Posting it here so not to swamp the Megathread

Dominik Szoboszlai: If I can take another step towards Europe's top six clubs, should I say no to the challenge?
Dominik Szoboszlai took a big step in his career with his second full Bundesliga season: the national team player almost doubled his playing minutes at the club level and became a real regular in the midfield of RB Leipzig, who won the bronze medal, under his age and new coach, Marco Rose. In the meantime, he found another challenge back home as well, he received the captain's armband of the national team from Marco Rossi, the captain of the Hungarian national team, and his teammates. We conducted an exclusive interview with the player in Leipzig after the last match of the league season, but before the German Cup final. We talked about tolerance for pressure and failure, a well-executed coaching change and the magic of the name Marco. He also told us about having a dog, sometimes over-consoles and dilemmas related to building a career. We talked with the youngest team captain in the history of the Hungarian national team about...
- What can football teach any young person?
- How do you deal with failure and what did you draw strength from during the worse periods of your career?
- How many times did he stand with Domenico Tedesco and the former coach of Leipzig with him?
- What makes your relationship with the Marcos, Marco Rosé and Marco Rossi so special?
- Who do you consider to be the most inspiring coaches today?
- How can you escape the soccer ball's squirrel wheel?
After the 4-2 win against Schalke, he had fun with Péter Gulácsi's children, and he tried to go almost everywhere from the stands, where he heard children's voices. Why are children so important? Do you like dealing with them? I try to bring them as much joy as possible with whatever I can. This is important to me. You should know about Gula's children, they are a bit more shy, especially the younger one. On the other hand, they like to play with me, whether we are after a game or somewhere else. We played a little ball last time, and now too. I get along well with them.
Is it because you didn't have a similar childhood? I had some old friends here at the game and there was a point last night where we got into a really deep conversation about who's childhood was what. In addition, I have known four out of five of them since I was very young, so they have followed my path almost the entire time. It was interesting to hear that most of them would not have traded with me to be here today. In fact, I don't think anyone would want to change it. I didn't have an average childhood, but that's not necessarily a bad thing either. It was neither better nor worse, just different from the majority. But at that time I had no reference point, rather I realized with an older head that my life was not average.
Was there anything I really missed? I had nothing to compare it to. Of course, I saw that the others were going to the cinema, and I went to training in the meantime. They went to a party, I went to training again. New Year's Eve came, they could go to bed at four in the morning, and sleep off the next day. My bus came at 7:50 a.m., I got on it and went to training. Seeing this, there were sometimes difficult periods where I thought, why can't I do what they do. But I was like, it wasn't written for me. From the outside, many people may think that success came easily because I was talented, but this is not the case at all. I don't think many people would have endured what I endured. And it's enough just to think about how much time I put into football, or what kind of upbringing I received - but all of this was needed to be where I am today.
The decision that one in a thousand makes
What are the main values that football can teach a young person? That everyone has a talent for something, you just have to find what it is. And if you have it, and you dedicate every minute to being the best at it, then the talent will pay off. For me, this is football, and the biggest lesson for me was that if I do something, I should always do it with one hundred percent. I just read an
interview the other day, with Balázs Opavszky, and I have to say, it really stood out to me!
Last year, we played in the age-group national teams together, we don't keep in touch, but when we meet, we usually talk. The fact that you can make a decision at the age of 22 that you no longer want to play football required enormous mental strength.
I THINK NINE OUT OF TEN PEOPLE COULDN'T DO IT. IN FACT, MAYBE MORE LIKE ONE IN A THOUSAND IF YOU CROSS IT. But he thought differently. He wants to be the best at what he does, and he thought he didn't find that opportunity in soccer. Now he was looking for something else that he could really excel at in his age group.
Does Dominik Szoboszlai like that too? Does it motivate you to be the best on the football field? Yes, and that's why I was wondering what was going on in his mind. Because I also think that I want to be the best. However, you have to see it realistically and make decisions that will make your own career and life more than just an unattainable fairy tale. But something in which you can find realistic goals. I'm living the life now, I can try to be the best in what I imagined for myself as a child.
📷
You were always expected to be the best, but no matter what level you reached, as an outside observer, you could feel that you took the obstacles with ease, in fact you didn't sweat that much. How easily did you actually live all this? Whether it was easy or difficult for me, no one knows, except those who were really with me from the beginning. What I experienced cannot be told, because you would have had to be there to see that nothing came easily. Nor that I had to move to Salzburg alone at the age of 15 without any knowledge of the language to attend the academy, without my family and friends. This will either mentally eat you up or strengthen you.
It appears you have been confirmed… I endured it, so it confirmed.
BUT THERE WERE HARD DAYS. THERE WAS A TIME WHEN I CALLED MY MOTHER THAT I HAD HAD ENOUGH, I WAS BORED, I HAD NOTHING TO DO, I WANTED TO GO HOME. But at the age of fifteen, I also knew that I shouldn't go home, because then I'd throw everything I'd built up until then, the work I'd put in, into the trash. I had to knock this down in myself, I had to think about what I really wanted. That's when I realized that this is what I want, and it doesn't matter how hard it is. If only because there are, were and will be many people for whom whatever you do, nothing is good. However, it doesn't bother me, it just drives me better that nothing fell into my lap, but that's why I worked for it. It feels good when I achieve something. For example, now, after a season like this, I go home and sit on the sofa, then I feel great.
The last became the first
How did you learn to deal with failure? It's hard, I think I still can't stand it very well. Until I was fourteen, I cried at almost every training session if I lost because I couldn't lose. I hate to lose. I can get really angry when it's up to someone else to lose. Dad taught me that because he never let me win at anything. If we had a running race, I had to run until he was tired and beat me. When we played soccer, he wouldn't give the ball to me until I took it or I kicked it to the ground, and then he looked at me badly. Then I left because I was afraid. So he never gave me anything and I could never win against him because he would have let it.In fact, that's why I learned that you have to fight really hard to win, because at eight years old, I won't be able to beat my father at anything.
The German Cup final is still ahead of you, but we can already evaluate the league season. He has played 45 games so far this season, in which he has received almost twice as much playing time as in the previous season. From the outside, this seems like a significant step forward, how did you experience it from the inside? Thank God, I got a lot more opportunities than last season, but that's football. A coach change comes and suddenly you jump from last place to first. At least I had the same feeling.
Would he have been last in line with Domenico Tedesco?! In my position, sure. We had a few conversations, sat down and gave our honest opinions. I told him I was 21 years old and wanted to play as much as possible. If I'm not the type of player you need, say so. He said I wasn't.
THERE WERE FOUR OF US AT MY POST, THE FOURTH FOR HIM. That's when the coach changed, Marco Rose arrived. I have known him since I was a child, and it is not an exaggeration, we have a good relationship with each other.
How much did it matter that he became the next coach? Or would anyone have breathed a sigh of relief after Tedesco? You can never tell in retrospect. The main thing is that I got the trust, I worked hard all the way and I was in the right shape to take advantage of the opportunity when I got it. Rose was a lucky choice from my point of view because he knew that if he gave me the confidence, I would do everything to thank him with my game. I'm glad it turned out that way, because it was good for him and for me.
Obviously, the situation is not that simple, but it seems that there is only one thing he really needs to pay attention to in his career, which is to always be Marco's first name coach. Did he really get the most trust from the two Marcos, in Salzburg and here from Rosé, back home from the national team captain Rossi? Which one did you learn more from? This is a difficult question.
We are all the more curious about your answer... I can't compare, because the two are completely different situations. Rossi was the first one who dared to put me in the national team at such a young age, and for whom I could become a regular player. Then, at the age of 21, I became team captain. So that's a very different story for me.
NOT TO MENTION THAT IT'S A NATIONAL TEAM, AND I GO HOME FEELING LIKE THE WHOLE TEAM, THE STAFF, FROM THE COACH TO THE MASSEUSE, IS LIKE A SECOND FAMILY TO ME. Here, however, we are talking about a workplace. Of course, we are all happy to come here, but it is a different experience than the national team. Things happen much faster here, if you get the chance, then a worse match comes along, you might not get another chance for three matches after that.
I feel like I could live with it. For this, however, it is also necessary to know that my relationship with Rosé was not so good when I was younger. At sixteen, if I didn't play, I thought it was the end of the world. I had to learn that this is not the case. However, my career also needed him saying, no, I won't get a chance now, I'll play in the second team on the weekend. And then I got an opportunity again with the second team, and again with the second team. I had to think and realize that at this level the training work I had done up until that point was no longer enough - I needed more.
The dark sides of the footballer's fate
When he got to Leipzig, he was struggling with a long, stubborn injury. It is known that he is doing wellwith András Schäfer, who was forced to miss again, who had three operations this season, and as soon as he returned from one of the misses, the next injury almost came. Were you able to say something encouraging to him during his possible low points? It was a very difficult time when I arrived at Leipzig. Really, it's probably the hardest period of my career, and I think he's going through something similar right now. When I heard that he was injured again, I immediately called him and told him that if he needed anything, he would just leave the house a little, I would be happy to come over to him in Berlin, and let's go for a walk and relax. He just wanted to be alone then, and I respected that, he's an adult, he knows when and what he needs. I've known him for a long time, it's true, we were clubmates in MTK only for a short time.On the other hand, a close friendship developed between us in the national team, which was only enhanced by the fact that Mátyás Esterházy is the manager, just like me, and then he moved almost next door, to Union Berlin.
In the past few weeks, he mentioned another good friend of his - whom he also owes to football - Karim Adeyemi, who plays in Dortmund.Have you talked since what happenedon Saturday ? I wrote him a long message because we spoke before the game, but he hasn't replied yet. To be honest, I didn't expect him to call me back right away. Anyway, I wrote him that if he needs a friend, I'm here. I'm sure it will be difficult for him to process the fact that he didn't win the league title, even though nobody has pressured Bayern Munich like this for ten years. The situation would have been different if their fate was not in their own hands, but it can be very difficult now knowing that if they win, the gold is theirs. He was also injured in the match. It is not easy to process this feeling.
How can it be? I have never experienced such a situation, but I think you have to hold on to the fact that life goes on, every match, every season is another opportunity.
Give up an extra position for the dream?
There are many rumors about his future. In recent days, the press picked up on his statement from a few years ago about Jürgen Klopp, in which he called the German one of the most inspiring coaches in the football world and the best coach in the world. Do you stand by this statement? The first half for sure. The second one, I don't remember if it sounded exactly like that. If I said he's the best, it's a mistake on my part, because you can't say that. Be a person on your feet who can objectively judge who is the best football coach in world history. Will it be Klopp, Pep Guardiola, Carlo Ancelotti, maybe Rose? We could list as many coaches who have been successful in the Premier League or any top league in the past. I don't think there is a single best football coach in the world. But there are many more brilliant and inspiring coaches. I would not venture to name who is the greatest of them all.
Is there someone under whom you would like to work and learn? Even at the cost of missing a season or two in the Champions League? I guess what the question is about, so that we mentioned Klopp and next year there will only be Europa League starters... But believe me, I don't know that Liverpool's player observers were outside at our matches, and if they were outside , who was being watched from the team.
IT WOULD CERTAINLY BE A SPECIAL EXPERIENCE TO WORK UNDER KLOPP, AS IT WOULD BE UNDER GUARDIOLA OR JOSÉ MOURINHO. I DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY WOULD BE ABLE TO GET OUT OF ME. Relatively few footballers are given all this, however, only the best. I believe I can reach that level and it would be great to work with any of them one day. With the proviso that I could list many, many more names here.
I think the public would be afraid of José Mourinho... Why?
Because of his famously pragmatic, defensive strategies. While you are a much more creative soccer player than playing bunker soccer for years! I can defend myself if I have to! I think it's been spectacular lately. And there is no need to explain what successes Mourinho has achieved in the last twenty years. It is no coincidence that he is the "Special One". It would be exciting, although it might be, it's just a theoretical question, what it would bring out of me.
But we see what Rose brings out of you! But not what else it can bring in the long term! That is why it is a difficult question what to do next. My entire career so far has been built consciously, always reaching the next level in time, but never to a level that would be too risky to jump. You can fall from high, and it's rare that someone gets one chance at the highest level of football, let alone two. All options must be considered. I dreamed of a club for myself at the age of five, another as a teenager, seeing that it is not necessarily impossible to achieve these dreams.
IF THERE IS INTEREST, I WILL CONSIDER IT, NOT BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE A GOOD TURN IN LEIPZIG, BUT BECAUSE I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN INTERESTED IN CHALLENGES. On one side of the scale is a good Leipzig, with a coach who trusts me and teammates who accept me and also believe in me. No footballer can wish for more than that. This is quite an extra situation. At the same time, on the other side, there is the question, if I can now take a step towards Europe's top five or six clubs, should I say no to the challenge? I've never been that type!
I am in a very good position, as I can play in a fantastic club. However, I don't want fifteen years from now to look back on my career as if I didn't get the most out of it.
Sometimes it would be civil, and the dog would help
Doesn't it cross your mind to step back and look at what you've already built? Not really. I don't have time to sit and think about what my life really is, because I'm in it every day. My friends say that I don't live a normal life, but this has become normal for me, thank God. But that still makes me the same person, I can still go anywhere. One of my friends is a truck driver, for example. The other is studying, the third is a streamer, and the fourth is playing soccer in a lower league. I go to the lower league to watch my friend's game, sit out and hang out with my other friends, and I haven't changed enough to say that I don't go around people like that. I sit in a truck restaurant, where my clothes will unfortunately stink, but I sit anyway, because I didn't want to change that.By the way, my big plan for the summer is to accompany my friend on a ride or two, because I'm interested in what kind of life he has.
How can you relax? Before the PlayStation.
Then FIFA, or something completely different, preferably unrelated to football? I mostly play the Call of Duty series. Sometimes too much... But it's the only thing that allows me to turn off my brain for a few hours and get out of the rut. My problem with FIFA is that, as a football player, I often think faster than the game can model my thoughts. I'm not saying I'll never like it, but it's not one of my favorites right now. It's interesting, by the way, because I didn't have a console, an Xbox, a PlayStation, or even a phone until I was sixteen.
He and his girlfriend recently got a dog. Is the pet also an escape route from the squirrel wheel? Yes, it helps me relax a lot. I'll be honest, sometimes I feel like we've had a child, regardless of the fact that I'm not the one doing most of it. However, you can't just spontaneously go to dinner here or there, you have to think about whether we can take it with us, if not, to whom we entrust it, etc.
I could not have imagined that 17-18-year-old Dominik Szoboszlai would want to keep a dog. Is this also a sign of character development? Oh, I really wanted to! I had a dog when I was a child, but unfortunately it died a long time ago. I was still very young and could not deal with it as much as I would have liked. He was a big dog, I loved him very much. And I was actually thinking about the same thing now, but it would have been a lot of work, and it would have been very difficult to organize the many trips with him. Only animals weighing less than eight kilograms can be transported in the passenger compartment of airplanes, larger ones can only be transported in the luggage compartment. And I'm not the one who would do that to an animal.
Do you ever wish you wouldn't be recognized on the street? That's what comes with being successful, and I accept that. When we are at home, I try to walk less. Either my girlfriend and I go to their holiday home in Siófok, or we are at home in Pest or Székesfehérvár. Where there is enough privacy. I don't usually go anywhere, sometimes I go to a party once in a while when we have a break, but I usually go to a restaurant if I'm not staying at home.
At the age of twenty-two, in a "fatherly" role
How are you doing with family planning? The dog is an important anteroom for this, and so far I feel that my girlfriend and I are successfully overcoming this obstacle. However, this does not mean that a child is already planned, and especially not that a child is already on the way. Don't write down such a conclusion! But if it turns out that I will be a relatively young father, I will face it. I used to always think that it would be given at a young age. I also thought how great it would be if my son was born and interested in football. Maybe she wouldn't have bad genes, with my dad and my experience added to it... but I'm not going to force anything on her. Of course, this will mean that I will definitely have a daughter. But the most important thing is to be healthy anyway!
If it's even further away, has it ever happened with the Hungarian national team that since you've been team captain, you've had to take on a bit of a "fatherly" role? It was such that, for example, I told Milos (Kerkez - editor), who is a little younger than me, that President Sándor Csányi was also in the building, so maybe the music he was listening to should be quieter. I'm not a quiet child myself, everyone knows that, and I don't even want to start playing the adult, I just sit down and play cards with the others, but I also try to pay attention to as many details as possible . Apart from that, so much has changed that we have jointly prepared a kind of house rule. But this is also just about the fact that when we are in Telki, it really shouldn't be that someone is late for a meeting, because we have nothing else to do but focus on football and look at our phones to see when there is a video recording, when there is training, when you have to go knead and regenerate.
The new European Championship qualifying matches are ahead of us, in June the national team will first play Montenegro away, and then Lithuania will come to the Puskás Arena. What do you expect from these matches? For now, I'm still focusing on my club and the German Cup final, which we really want to win again. Perhaps it's no coincidence that Marco Rose decided to give him a little rest in the last round and only send him on as a substitute. But I can't say that I don't think about what challenges await us at the national team afterwards. I agree with Marco Rossi, the Montenegrin match will be one-on-one, and if we can win it, we can be in a good position at the beginning of the qualifying series. If not, then we will have a hard time for second place as well. We want to get the three points, and this is not impossible at all, we have the team, the unity, everything that is needed for success.
And there will probably be a full house for both games. All guest tickets to Montenegro were snapped up in 15 minutes, and only a few thousand tickets remained for this week against Lithuania. After many years, it is your generation that was able to achieve that going to the matches of the national team is not a hobby of a narrow group, but rather a widely fashionable thing. There was just a discussion about this in Telki, where the president remarked with a smile that, unfortunately, the Puskás Arena has become small, because they could probably have sold 200,000 tickets for our Nations League matches. In all seriousness, we are glad that we were able to change the thinking of at least some people. Even if you haven't and can't change everyone. It feels good that so many people are behind us and believe in our successes. I am happy if we can bring joy to many people, and even set an example so that they dare to take on bigger things in their own lives.

2023.05.31 13:40 Designer_Holiday3284 [Neo 22] USB-C to HDMI?
Hi, is it possible to use some adapter that converts the back USB-C of the Neo 22 to HDMI to plug into my TV? I have a HDMI cable already but I was wondering if I could use my USB-C cable and just bring this adapter (if it exists) when I travel.
Also, when I use HDMI, does it always use the integrated graphics instead of the discrete one? When I open the NVIDIA settings with the HDMI connected, the radio buttons are grey and it says it's using the integrated graphics.
Thanks in advance!

2023.05.31 13:09 Round-Wrangler4414 Is Career Mode still playable?
Hi guys,
I have been playing Career Mode since 14, pretty much the only feature that I play on every FIFA. Recently, on Fifa 22, found this AI tiki taking into goal to be annoying. I know How to defend but my main issues with the newer versions of the game are:
- Midfielders dont come back and a Lot of space is left
- 18th position side turns into 2009 Barcelona out of nowhere and score 3 goals
- A moment happens where the AI team always has possession and you can do nothing about It, except pray for your goalie to defend or the Striker to miss.
I like a more realistic football and been playing PES for a while, but it dont have overall FIFA Career Mode features that makes It fun.
Is there any config setup, slider, that I can put into work to get a better gameplay?
