Hello,
my friend is planning to assemble her first PC. Since neither she nor I have any idea about it, we looked for information from an online retailer in Germany and provided them with our criteria. I found it important that it stays within a budget of around €1000 (but my friend would be willing to pay more if certain better parts were available. e.g. clearly better motherboard for €100 more.) and it should be a pink PC case that can be relatively easily upgraded later on (including additional fans).
The expert then informed us that they could order a pink case because that is relatively small but quite good.
Then, he showed us a "kick-ass deals" list and suggested that we take a look there for the internal components. Furthermore, he recommended a specific PC build priced at €1000 that could fit into the pink case mentioned above.

Now the question is whether this €1000 PC is good if they were to build it in the pink case. Furthermore, there is also the question of whether it's worth buying a pre-built PC or ordering individual components and assembling them ourselves, even though my girlfriend and I have no knowledge of such things. It doesn't have to be a high-end NASA PC. It shouldn't get too old too quickly, not get too loud and too hot, and have a good average output.

PETERSBURG — One of the first Black woman architects, Amaza Lee Meredith from Petersburg, will be celebrated in the latest episodes of the New Angle: Voice audio documentary series created by Beverly Willis Architecture Foundation.
According to historian Jacqueline Taylor, Meredith [1895-1984] studied at Virginia Normal and Industrial Institute, now known as Virginia State University [VSU]. In 1947, she enrolled at Teachers College in New York City.
One of Meredith's best documented works is Azurest South, located on the VSU campus. Completed in 1939, it served as her home/studio and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1993. National Historic Landmark status is pending.
The Virginia Department of Historic Resources describes Azurest South as being located in the Chesterfield County town of Ettrick and Meredith's design as a compact, clean-lined dwelling. It is among the Commonwealth’s few mature examples of the International Style, a style which developed in Germany following World War I and espoused a complete break with traditional architecture.
The architect shared the house with her partner Edna Meade Colson [1888-1985], a leading Black educator and activist. In 1986, Azurest South became the official Alumni House for the Virginia State University Alumni Association, a dream of Meredith's.

Meredith’s life will soon be in the popular imagination: Actor Laurence Fishburne is producing a new HBO Max series based on Colson Whitehead’s novel "Sag Harbor," a place where Meredith and her sister Maude Terry developed a destination resort for middle-class Blacks. HBO Max is an American subscription video on-demand over-the-top streaming service.
Beverly Willis Architecture Foundation [BWAF] executive director Cynthia Phifer Kracauer leads this effort. She conceived and produced the audio documentaries with noted writer and editor Alexandra Lange Ph.D. and the acclaimed producer Brandi Howell.
The production team traveled to Petersburg, Charlottesville, Richmond and Manassas and interviewed preachers and historians like Grady Powell who document how Meredith founded a department at a university, taught art at Virginia State and more.
On Sag Harbor, Azurest North has been listed since 2019 as part of a historic district. The Sag Harbor work includes two residences by Meredith, including her family’s cottage where Meredith’s drafting table could be found.

Hired in as a P2 and was one for over two years. Began looking for a different role (currently in supply chain), whether P2 or a promo to a P3. Had an interview, but ultimately didn’t get the job. Due to my manager having known I was looking, ended up giving me an in role promotion. Sounds great, but had no opportunity to negotiate salary, so got screwed with a 6% increase. Anyway, I don’t enjoy the work I do whatsoever; incredibly mundane and due to being in this role for 2.5 years now, my learning curve has been pretty flat. Was told by my manager that “the job is the job” and the work isn’t going to change and I’m most certainly not going to make it another year in this role.
So am I totally screwed in this role and unable to apply to anything internally for the next year? Or is my best bet to look externally?
If anyone was able to move internally before the 12 months, how did it work (e.g. did you have to chat with your manager before applying, etc.)?

I got engaged this weekend and I know I'm absolutely overthinking this but how long did it take for it to "sink in" for you?
I'm happy, I know that my fiance is the one for me, I've been looking forward to this and I'm eager to plan the wedding, but when did that internal identity shift happen for you? I feel like it hasn't hit me yet.
Did it happen when you finished telling everyone? When you secured the venue and date? When you tried on your first dress?
Do you have any recommendations on how to get there? Podcasts, books, shows? Activities? I want to fully enjoy engaged life before I get to the aisle and start enjoying married life.

My parents and I bought a car about two weeks ago from a private seller for about $6k.
My parents contacted the guy from a local website and he said that he’ll drive the car to our house for us to take a look at. My dad and I both went on a test drive and seemed fine. He also thoroughly checked the car after and the only thing he noticed was that the AC leaked water, but nothing else too crazy. He also told us his car didn’t pass the smog check yet, which required him to drive it for 300 miles because he just got repairs for that.
A couple days after, my parents and him came to an agreement on the price and we said we’ll complete the transaction after the passes the smog check.
The day comes when it’s time to transfer titles & my mom gets off work earlier than I do, so her + the guy & his wife, who is the actual owner of the car, went to the place that would complete the paperwork. My mom wanted to test drive it one last time and the guy went with her. She told him that her daughter needs to commute with this car so don’t sell it if there’s some really big issues. The guy never mentioned anything. When they got back, his wife mentioned that the windshield wiper was broken (my mom said it was fine because it could easily be fixed). When they completed the transaction with cash, both parties agreed to put the payment as lower than what was paid for on paper for tax reasons.
I didn’t drive the car for a couple of days because I wanted to wait till the weekend to take it to a car detailing shop to get it deep cleaned before I was ready to drive it. For the next week or so, when I drove to work, there were signs that something was very wrong with the transmission. The gas pedal on the car would not accelerate after 15 mins into driving on the freeway, it would start to slow down for a bit before the car jerks back and starts going faster again. When it comes to exiting the freeway, the car would completely feel stuck at a stoplight and more stoplights after unless I restart the car. The car also continuously jerks when driving. I didn’t know that it was a big issue at first because I just graduated from college and haven’t been driving for that long.
My dad took the car to a shop and they said that the transmission is bad and the car shouldn’t be driven anymore. So my parents contacted the seller and he refuses to pay for repairs, and said that it’s his wife’s car so he doesn’t know anything.
My parents now want to sue them in a small claims court for either repairs or a refund and we’ll give them the car back. I would have to be the one to sue, but I’m just not sure how likely we would to win this case because of our lack of evidence that the other party knew about this issue prior to the sale. We also did not take the car for an inspection beforehand, just test drove and inspected it ourselves. They only communicated through phone calls. We also thought it was weird that the guy only wanted to drive the car to our place, so he probably didn’t want us to know where they lived.
If anyone has had a similar experience or could give me advice on this case, it would be greatly appreciated!

I have found my self somewhat unexpectedly at a low UX-mature organisation, and I've been told that I need to work on my stakeholder management and "Meeting people where they are, not where you want them to be." Honestly, I have no idea what this means practically.
I have some L&D budget, and I'm looking for some training. It would be great if it was for user researchers, but that seems unlikely. I would like it to be at least design-related. I am internal at a tech company, embedded on a cross-functional product team. I'm in the UK if that's relevant.

Looking at getting one of the new CTS table saws from saw stop as an entry level saw. I’ve taken some cabinet making classes and think it will be a decent fit. But at open to criticism about it.
My main question is if there is a preferred dealer for them in the LA area. It doesn’t seem like saw stops really have a sale ever, so I’m looking for f good service and I want to make sure that I get a well made saw that has good tolerances etc. I live in the LA area with plenty of options. The ones I’ve been consider near by include rockler, Hudson and West, and Gnahl. Any suggestions on who the best venders are? Will anyone complementarily set it up in my garage or verify the calibrations match the specs? Am I over thinking it?
It’s a big purchase on my woodworking journey so I’m a bit hesitant on just dropping the money at any shop without a better understand of what each shop can offer for support
Also, qualify for veterans or student discounts but I don’t think those apply to saw stop

So we bought this from a yard sale, was used once to clean the owners driveway. I've looked through the manual extensively and there's no information at all. The only power regulator I can see is a slide from turtle to rabbit. That's all. Now logically I would assume that turtle side is less power therefore less pressure but there's no way for me to know what the pressure is at that setting. We're hoping to use this to clean our cars but obviously don't want to use 3500psi to strip our paint. Any info or have any ideas on how to "calibrate" this to a decent psi?

You’ll be expected to pick up the other Admins work. hello everyone, I wanted once and for all to know a WORKING way to download Metal gear solid 4 for the RPCS3 emulator.... My name is Chloe and I am 23 years old. This is the story of the battle I went through when I was 19 and a college student. I wrote this to raise awareness and make sure everyone believes that no one is alone throughout the battle they are going through right now. In October 2018 I went out on a night out with a close friend for her birthday and something bad happened. While on this night I was drinking alcohol so what I did was I went to a takeaway shop with my friend and something happened that had never happened before. What happened was that I blacked out and my friend had to get a bouncer to help me and he phoned an ambulance but while in the ambulance I came around and they took me to the hospital and at the hospital they ran a range of tests and I found out I had an internal infection which I never thought was bad until a few months later. In January 2019 I started feeling really lousy and I just didn’t feel like myself, so I made an appointment with my doctor because I didn’t well at all and my symptoms where abit weird. My symptoms were itching, swollen lymph nodes, chest pains so I made my doctors more aware of my symptoms until I was listened to 100 percent then some good news a doctor wanted to listen properly to me and at the appointment he told me he was going to send me for a biopsy.
In February 2019 I went for my biopsy and a pet scan and they were both uncomfortable then I waited for the results then in march that year I had an appointment at the hospital with a haematology doctor and he checked my symptoms and the results of my biopsy and scan and told me the news no 19 year old girl wants to hear. He told me that I had actually ended up getting Hodgkin’s lymphoma which is a form of cancer and no 19 year old girl would like to hear that type of news ever. From march I went on to have 6 months worth of chemotherapy and I wouldn’t wish cancer on anyone not even my worse enemy because chemotherapy makes you feel worse than you already do because it makes you feel sick, achy, depressed and tired. After 6 months of chemotherapy I got a letter through the post saying I’m due for another pet scan because I was getting to the end of my chemotherapy. In august 2019 I ended my chemotherapy and I rang the end of treatment bell and I had a scan a few days later which confirmed I was all clear from cancer and I celebrated with friends. When we fast forward to march 2023 I have been cancer free for 4 years and I am so happy for myself I cant believe I beat cancer. When it comes to fighting battles you need to think about your life and realise who is there for you throughout it because the people who are there throughout the battle your going through and afterwards are the type of people you want in your life. When it comes to finding true people it can be hard so when you find them type of people you should never let them go at all.

It's structured in a way that you don't have to leave your work but I am involved in a business outside US which I can't get involved in much during my EMBA. Since these courses take place on the weekends, would I be wasting the weekdays or is there something productive I could do that would justify my time?
