SUBJECT: Multiple Vulnerabilities in Google Chrome Could Allow for Arbitrary Code Execution
OVERVIEW: Multiple vulnerabilities have been discovered in Google Chrome, the most severe of which could allow for arbitrary code execution. Google Chrome is a web browser used to access the internet. Successful exploitation of the most severe of these vulnerabilities could allow for arbitrary code execution in the context of the logged on user. Depending on the privileges associated with the user an attacker could then install programs; view, change, or delete data; or create new accounts with full user rights. Users whose accounts are configured to have fewer user rights on the system could be less impacted than those who operate with administrative user rights.
THREAT INTELLEGENCE: There are currently no reports of these vulnerabilities being exploited in the wild

TECHNICAL SUMMARY:
Multiple vulnerabilities have been discovered in Google Chrome, the most severe of which could allow for arbitrary code execution. Details of these vulnerabilities are as follows:
Tactic: Initial Access (TA0001):
Technique: Drive-By Compromise (T1189):

• Out of Bounds Write in Swiftshader (CVE-2023-2929)
• Use after free in Extensions (CVE-2023-2930)
• Use after free in PDF (CVE-2023-2931, CVE-2023-2932, CVE-2023-2933)
• Out of bounds memory access in Mojo (CVE-2023-2934)
• Type Confusion in V8 (CVE-2023-2935, CVE-2023-2936)
• Inappropriate implementation in Picture In Picture (CVE-2023-2937, CVE-2023-2938)
• Insufficient data validation in Installer (CVE-2023-2939)
• Inappropriate implementation in Downloads (CVE-2023-2940)
• Inappropriate implementation in Extensions API (CVE-2023-2941)

Successful exploitation of the most severe of these vulnerabilities could allow for arbitrary code execution in the context of the logged on user. Depending on the privileges associated with the user an attacker could then install programs; view, change, or delete data; or create new accounts with full user rights. Users whose accounts are configured to have fewer user rights on the system could be less impacted than those who operate with administrative user rights.
RECOMMENDATIONS: We recommend the following actions be taken:

• Apply appropriate updates provided by Google to vulnerable systems immediately after appropriate testing. (M1051: Update Software)
  
  • Safeguard 7.1: Establish and Maintain a Vulnerability Management Process: Establish and maintain a documented vulnerability management process for enterprise assets. Review and update documentation annually, or when significant enterprise changes occur that could impact this Safeguard.
  • Safeguard 7.4: Perform Automated Application Patch Management: Perform application updates on enterprise assets through automated patch management on a monthly, or more frequent, basis.
  • Safeguard 7.7: Remediate Detected Vulnerabilities: Remediate detected vulnerabilities in software through processes and tooling on a monthly, or more frequent, basis, based on the remediation process.
  • Safeguard 9.1: Ensure Use of Only Fully Supported Browsers and Email Clients: Ensure only fully supported browsers and email clients are allowed to execute in the enterprise, only using the latest version of browsers and email clients provided through the vendor.
• Apply the Principle of Least Privilege to all systems and services. Run all software as a non-privileged user (one without administrative privileges) to diminish the effects of a successful attack. (M1026: Privileged Account Management)
  
  • Safeguard 4.7: Manage Default Accounts on Enterprise Assets and Software: Manage default accounts on enterprise assets and software, such as root, administrator, and other pre-configured vendor accounts. Example implementations can include: disabling default accounts or making them unusable.
  • Safeguard 5.4: Restrict Administrator Privileges to Dedicated Administrator Accounts: Restrict administrator privileges to dedicated administrator accounts on enterprise assets. Conduct general computing activities, such as internet browsing, email, and productivity suite use, from the user’s primary, non-privileged account.
• Restrict execution of code to a virtual environment on or in transit to an endpoint system. (M1048: Application Isolation and Sandboxing)
  
• Use capabilities to detect and block conditions that may lead to or be indicative of a software exploit occurring. (M1050: Exploit Protection)
  
  • Safeguard 10.5: Enable Anti-Exploitation Features: Enable anti-exploitation features on enterprise assets and software, where possible, such as Microsoft® Data Execution Prevention (DEP), Windows® Defender Exploit Guard (WDEG), or Apple® System Integrity Protection (SIP) and Gatekeeper™.
• Restrict use of certain websites, block downloads/attachments, block Javascript, restrict browser extensions, etc. (M1021: Restrict Web-Based Content)
  
  • Safeguard 9.2: Use DNS Filtering Services: Use DNS filtering services on all enterprise assets to block access to known malicious domains.
  • Safeguard 9.3: Maintain and Enforce Network-Based URL Filters: Enforce and update network-based URL filters to limit an enterprise asset from connecting to potentially malicious or unapproved websites. Example implementations include category-based filtering, reputation-based filtering, or through the use of block lists. Enforce filters for all enterprise assets.
  • Safeguard 9.6: Block Unnecessary File Types: Block unnecessary file types attempting to enter the enterprise’s email gateway.
• Inform and educate users regarding the threats posed by hypertext links contained in emails or attachments especially from un-trusted sources. Remind users not to visit un-trusted websites or follow links provided by unknown or un-trusted sources. (M1017: User Training)
  
  • Safeguard 14.1: Establish and Maintain a Security Awareness Program: Establish and maintain a security awareness program. The purpose of a security awareness program is to educate the enterprise’s workforce on how to interact with enterprise assets and data in a secure manner. Conduct training at hire and, at a minimum, annually. Review and update content annually, or when significant enterprise changes occur that could impact this Safeguard.
  • Safeguard 14.2: Train Workforce Members to Recognize Social Engineering Attacks: Train workforce members to recognize social engineering attacks, such as phishing, pre-texting, and tailgating.

Hi, I'm a relatively new player (<6 months experience) trying to break into the online MTT scene and eventually turn pro in online and live tournaments. I put in a lot of volume on ACR over the past six months in mostly freerolls and micro MTTs in an attempt to learn the ropes and grow a small bankroll.
I haven't invested in a HUD because until recently I wasn't sure how seriously I wanted to take my play. Pretty much every article I've read says getting PokerTracker or similar is important to track your results. but I downloaded the PT4 free trial, imported my tournament history from 5 months of play, and it hugely miscalculated my earnings. it couldn't detect *any* bounty prizes from WPN (ACR), and a lot of the special freerolls were listed as if I had paid a $2.20 buy-in (everyone knows the first entry in these on ACR is free, so this skewed my results by several 100 $$). combined with the bounty issue, hundreds of dollars of profits are not being counted - and again this is with a small practice bankroll, initial deposit $16, grew to as much as about $350 at peak.
I've been in touch with PT4 support about this, they have been helpful, but I guess I didn't realize that tracking my tournament results wouldn't be this straightforward. I recognize HUDs are somewhat controversial, but being able to pull basic earning data for tracking ones own progress shouldn't be.
So anyway, I realize as a new player only focusing on one poker room my perspective is very limited, but I wanted to ask how do serious online tournament players track results, and how much of this has to be done/fixed manually when software fails?

It came pre-loaded with Windows 10 trial but then it displayed the ‘Activate Windows’ watermark. I decided to then get Windows 11 but it installed Windows 11 Pro N. I wanted just Windows 11 Pro so I installed it through the installation media option here:

When it got done downloading and I had to reboot, the PC itself was still running but then the monitor displayed “DP No Signal” and this has been the case ever since. I have tried unplugging and plugging the DP, rebooting and replugging the power cord for both the PC and monitor. I have an MSI G32CQ4 and it won’t even let me access the menu using the joystick button, it just says DP No Signal and turns black. However, when you turn on the monitor, it does display the MSI logo so I’m assuming it’s not a GPU issue. Can anyone help me? Thanks in advance.

There is only one real way for any of these problems to get solved, and that’s if the Driver Team at Nvidia knows what those problems are. So in order for them to know what’s going on it would be good for any users who are having problems with the drivers to Submit Feedback to Nvidia. A guide to the information that is needed to submit feedback can be found here.
Additionally, if you see someone having the same issue you are having in this thread, reply and mention you are having the same issue. The more people that are affected by a particular bug, the higher the priority that bug will receive from NVIDIA!!
Common Troubleshooting Steps

• Be sure you are on the latest build of Windows 10 or 11
• Please visit the following link for DDU guide which contains full detailed information on how to do Fresh Driver Install.
• If your driver still crashes after DDU reinstall, try going to Go to Nvidia Control Panel -> Managed 3D Settings -> Power Management Mode: Prefer Maximum Performance

If it still crashes, we have a few other troubleshooting steps but this is fairly involved and you should not do it if you do not feel comfortable. Proceed below at your own risk:

• A lot of driver crashing is caused by Windows TDR issue. There is a huge post on GeForce forum about this here. This post dated back to 2009 (Thanks Microsoft) and it can affect both Nvidia and AMD cards.
• Unfortunately this issue can be caused by many different things so it’s difficult to pin down. However, editing the windows registry might solve the problem.
• Additionally, there is also a tool made by Wagnard (maker of DDU) that can be used to change this TDR value. Download here. Note that I have not personally tested this tool.

If you are still having issue at this point, visit GeForce Forum for support or contact your manufacturer for RMA.
Common Questions

• Is it safe to upgrade to ? Fact of the matter is that the result will differ person by person due to different configurations. The only way to know is to try it yourself. My rule of thumb is to wait a few days. If there’s no confirmed widespread issue, I would try the new driver.

Bear in mind that people who have no issues tend to not post on Reddit or forums. Unless there is significant coverage about specific driver issue, chances are they are fine. Try it yourself and you can always DDU and reinstall old driver if needed.

• My color is washed out after upgrading/installing driver. Help! Try going to the Nvidia Control Panel -> Change Resolution -> Scroll all the way down -> Output Dynamic Range = FULL.
• My game is stuttering when processing physics calculation Try going to the Nvidia Control Panel and to the Surround and PhysX settings and ensure the PhysX processor is set to your GPU
• What does the new Power Management option “Optimal Power” means? How does this differ from Adaptive? The new power management mode is related to what was said in the Geforce GTX 1080 keynote video. To further reduce power consumption while the computer is idle and nothing is changing on the screen, the driver will not make the GPU render a new frame; the driver will get the one (already rendered) frame from the framebuffer and output directly to monitor.

Remember, driver codes are extremely complex and there are billions of different possible configurations. The software will not be perfect and there will be issues for some people. For a more comprehensive list of open issues, please take a look at the Release Notes. Again, I encourage folks who installed the driver to post their experience here... good or bad.

Hello! I've been dealing with the infamous bug that made vegas pro unable to launch at around the beggining of May. I've come here ever since looking for a way to fix it, but nothing seems to work for my version. I can access the software if I change the date on my pc all the way back to April, but it's driving me crazy. I need a way to fix it once and for all, but for the Steam version, which is the one I'm using.
I've tried downloading the update, but it won't install cause it says it's not for the steam version.
Please, do you have any ideas? I'm using windows 10. My graphics card is a Rtx 2070 Super and my software is Vegas pro 19 Steam Version. I've googled the issue and came up with no results about the steam version.

Nova started as a folk project called Kyle's Dog's Head. But after I shifted really hard into learning production, a new name was needed. Kyle's Dog's Head was one person, but Nova is a Chorus and can be one or many!

What's up guys, got this dj controller from a mate and when I'm getting no response in Serato DJ Pro or other dj software.
Obviously it's plugged in, I downloaded an app that shows that the midi inputs are going through and there doesn't seem to be any additional software I need to download. I think in Serato it's supposed to just work as soon as you plug it in? This is on Mac OS Monterey btw.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Maybe it wasn't a big deal, but as a non-Apple guy given an old MacBook Pro to goof around on, I was happy to get it working.

I thought I'd share the howTo here so if might help some future me.
​

1. Apple MacBooks with Intel processors CAN run Windows 10.
2. Apple supported this with a tool/technology/feature named BootCamp.
3. Apple developed the drivers you need, but they didn't really make it easy to do this outside of the MacOS. Getting the drivers for your particular MacBook Pro can be challenging!
4. Luckily, Tim Sutton made Brigadier, a program that runs on Windows and which will automatically locate and unzip/download the drivers/programs/etc that you need for your particular MacBook Pro model. Amazing work!
5. https://github.com/timsutton/brigadier
6. You'll need to run brigadier from the command line and tell it the model of MacBook Pro that you want the BootCamp drivers/etc for.brigadier.exe --model MacBookPro14,1
7. Brigadier will do its magic and output your necessary drivers/etc to a folder named "BootCamp--"
8. You'll need to install a few prerequisites to get brigadier working. I had everything it needed already installed, so I didn't have to fight any battles there. YMMV.
9. Once you've build your BootCamp folder full of drivers and programs, you can just add it to your "Windows 10 Installation Media" (usually a flash drive).
10. You can build your Windows 10 installation flash drive using the tool on this page: https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10
11. When the Windows installed says it can't find your hard drive to install on, load the "AppleSSD64" driver from the "$WinPEDriver$/AppleSSD64" folder on your Windows Installation flash drive (where you copied it in step 8)
12. I then blew away all the partitions on my SSD, and let the Windows Installer do it's stuff. I didn't need to keep any of the partitions to get things working.
13. Once Windows was up and running, Run the "BootCamp/Setup.exe" installer in your BootCamp folder that Brigadier created for you.
14. Magic happens. For extra fun, load up the Device Manager and get that thrill of watching unknown devices disappear as they become known devices.
15. Three tips for using Windows10 on a MacBook Pro.a. The delete key will not "delete" files/folders. I think, by default, it's really a backspace key. To actually "delete" when you press the "delete" key, also hold the option key.b. The right-click on the trackpad doesn't work out of the box. To right-click, do a two-finger click.c. To setup the bottom right corner of your trackpad as a regular right-click, use the BootCamp settings that are hiding in your Notification Area at the bottom right of the menu bar. There are other nice features in there (like tap to click).

My MacBookPro is now booting Windows happily, resuming from suspend without problems, and generally working fine. Camera works, speakers work, everything seems to work well.
