21 [M4F] Alabama - looking for meaningful connection

2023.06.08 06:07 FatFish34 21 [M4F] Alabama - looking for meaningful connection

Hey! I'm a 21 year old college student from Alabama. I honestly am not too picky in terms of women, as long as you are somewhere around my age and I prefer a smaller frame (I'm pretty skinny myself). Here's a bit about me:
My looks: I'm tall (6'3), wear glasses, am white, am working on building muscle, and skinny as I previously said.
My interests: I love animals and spending time with family/close friends. I prefer to stay in most nights instead of going out. I also like sports (playing and watching), music, hiking, playing video games. I'm in college right now, graduating in the spring.
My goal: I honestly don't know, just leaving it up to fate and hoping it works out.
I can play clarinet, I can ride a bike, I will talk your ears off about sports if you let me, and I will be your biggest supporter.
If anything I just wrote interests you, shoot me a DM! Let's start a conversation and just see what happens.

2023.06.08 05:42 F3vor Help With Blurry Grass

Self Explanatory. Is there a specific option I need to change to make my grass look sharper? Is this an anti-aliasing thing? Some help would be appreciated. Here is a link to what my grass looks like in game. I am using Ominous ENB and Northern Grass.

2023.06.08 05:14 Beareaglex2 Magical First family trip

We had a wonderful first Disney trip as a family. I relied heavily on the sub to plan for this trip so I wanted to return the favor to help some other newbies or guest with children. First thing is to get genie plus it was a life saver to have it with an impatient 5 year old who doesn’t want to wait more than 20-30 mins in line. We used it all 3 days park days for MK, AK and DHS. It doesn’t make everything a walk on but 5-15 min wait makes life a lot easier. We rode every attraction that didn’t use virtual queue or individual light lane for flight of passage at DHS and AK. We missed 3 rides( Pooh, Arial and speedyway) at MK b/c we left right after fireworks. My family was done so we quit there lol. Transportation was a breeze except for our MK day the bus line was long from Pop so we opted for a Minnie van so we could still rope drop. We arrived around 7:30 for bus which I knew was late but I wasn’t expecting the buses to move as slow as they did. Also Minnie vans weren’t as plentiful as I thought it took us roughly 30 mins to get picked up. On our HS day we took the boat since we were staying at beach club and the bus to AK since we were staying at AKL. HS was our least stressful rope drop and slinky dog dog was our first ride. Resorts: If you don’t mind not being able to completely settle in or have a small family I would recommend red port hopping. It gave us a great opportunity to see multiple area of the property in a short time frame. We did both deluxe and Value We had a club level BC room which spoiled us rotten so everything after that paled in comparison but it was nice to experience both. Although I don’t think I’ll do value again . We averaged about $300 a day in food and souvenirs which could’ve been less but I was trying to make this a memorable vacation/ birthday for my 5 year old so nothing was really off limits including our $200 Chef Mickey breakfast. Lastly the cast members are really one of a kind. They really have great attitudes and made the trip an even more magical experience.

2023.06.08 04:25 kezziebeat Still buzzing!

I’ve been back for over a week and I’m still on a high!
In all realness it was a weird first few days with some falling outs with my family. They are very much ride people (no shows, no parades, no characters, no novelty food) and did everything they wanted to do in one day in each park. (They went to universal for three days during our 7 days booked in WDW) As we were staying off site in a house with 8 of us me and bf (love the Disney magic) had to leave when they did. After three days of that we decided to take the monetary hit and just Uber to the parks and do what we wanted.
Things got much better after that!
And well, there was a most magical moment when we were watching Happily Ever After, get a tap on my leg and Bf is on one knee. I cried, he cried, everyone around us cheered. Got a fiancé now!
My favs: Avatar and Star Wars rides Meeting Aurora Meeting Tiana Festival of the Lion King Seeing two young rhinos roughhousing on safari Haunted Mansion (always) Our server at 50s diner Meeting Donald Meeting up with a friend I haven’t seen in years on the other side of the world when we both live in the UK!
Next time we are doing a Disney resort for sure as the transport is awesome. Overall I had an excellent time and got a pretty good souvenir!

You have to understand I come from the idiot proof world of the ninebot max G30. I unboxed my new OXO and I am a bit perplexed.
Problem #1: Box said OX not OXO. I didn’t want to open it because it said the wrong scooter model. Turns out it is an OXO but Inokim is not savy enough to market it correctly?
Problem #2: the rubber safety strap was ripped at the connector that is supposed to provide the safety of the neck from unfolding while riding. Lucky it came with two. I guess I understand why.
Problem 3: can the kickstand be any worse? Picture shows this super long kickstand with what looks like a spring mechanism. Mine came with a short stub that had to be unscrewed and lengthened before screwing it back in. Is it supposed to be spring mounted? What gives. It so easily falls over. Feel like I am missing something.
Problem 3. Why is the scooter by default governed to such a low speed. Manual says nothing about overriding it. Thankful to YouTube
Problem 4. Brakes do not work out of the box. I couldn’t stop. Thankful for #3. Do you really have to bleed the brakes? When I pump the rear brake I hear a squeak. Can’t tell if it is air leak squeak or just rubbing.
It almost seems that I had to prime the brakes a few times before riding. I would take it out tonight but not willing to do a test ride at night. Brakes and kickstand are my biggest concerns.
Frustrated. I don’t want to have to bleed the brakes on day one. I don’t have a bleed kit. Thoughts on all this?

2023.06.08 03:55 harry-jg Best VPN for Dubai

Dubai, a pearl amidst the sands, harbors a somewhat less than jolly attitude towards the privacy of its digital denizens. The powers that be exert a formidable grip, not merely sculpting the shape of your online landscape, but also taking a keen interest in your digital stroll through it.
Now, here's where the humble VPN enters the fray. When equipped with this nifty bit of tech, your Internet Service Provider, which pays its dues to the UAE government, can't see past your digital window dressing. All it spies is your VPN traffic - the online equivalent of a politely closed door. Fear not the legality, for VPNs are given the green light in Dubai, provided you're not using them as a key to unlock the forbidden fruit of the internet, as defined by the government.
Having devoted several sunsets to research and rigorous testing of various VPNs suitable for Dubai, I’ve assembled a list of commendable candidates. Each is a splendid option in its own right, yet the crown jewel is undoubtedly ExpressVPN. It twinkles with excellent privacy and security features, dazzles with speeds that would make a cheetah blush, and charms with user-friendly applications.
ExpressVPN
ExpressVPN, I must say, is the unchallenged champion of the VPN universe in Dubai and the broader UAE. While it hasn't, as such, planted its digital flag in Dubai soil, it still flexes its technological muscles with an enviable roster of over 3,000 servers strewn across 90-plus countries. This includes some rather friendly neighbours to Dubai such as Egypt, Israel, and Sri Lanka. It boasts blistering speeds, splendid security and privacy features, and the kind of user-friendly apps that make one purr with delight.
In the grand Prix of VPNs, ExpressVPN tears up the track, securing its place as the fastest VPN of the season. Regardless of whether one connects to a server in the neighbouring street or on a distant continent, the speed gauge barely flickers. Websites snap open like eager oysters, HD and 4K videos play with the smoothness of silk and buffering and lag become distant memories. The download speeds are equally impressive, having devoured a 30 GB file in just about 15 minutes.
The prowess of ExpressVPN extends to the realm of streaming, where it plays well with over 100 services, including crowd favourites like Netflix, Disney+, and Amazon Prime Video, as well as regional attractions such as OSN+ and StarzPlay Arabia. Adding to its charm, it offers a smart DNS feature, which allows you to feast on streaming sites on those devices that give VPN apps the cold shoulder, like certain gaming consoles or some smart TVs.
To top it all, ExpressVPN supports torrenting with aplomb, welcoming P2P traffic on all servers and co-operating with top torrenting clients such as uTorrent, qBittorrent, and BitTorrent.
In the realm of user-friendliness, ExpressVPN's apps are akin to the friendly labrador next door - intuitive and fuss-free. Features like auto-connect and Shortcuts (which lets you create one-click access for your cherished apps and sites that magically appear once you're connected to a server) are the cherries on this delightful digital sundae.
NordVPN
NordVPN, quite like the gallant knight of yore, comes armed to the hilt with servers in Dubai and an arsenal of top-tier security features. Boasting RAM-only servers, perfect forward secrecy, and all-encompassing leak protection, it guarded my IP address with a zeal reminiscent of a bulldog guarding a sirloin steak.
Among NordVPN's more notable virtues is the Threat Protection feature. It has an admirable disdain for ads, trackers, and websites of dubious character. Furthermore, it also displays a commendable sense of duty in safeguarding one from downloads harbouring malicious intent. In my own experiments, it proved to be a rather stern gatekeeper, denying me access to malevolent sites every single time and dismissing a majority of ads from ad-laden sites.
NordVPN's performance in the speed category is decidedly respectable, though not quite of the calibre of ExpressVPN, Private Internet Access, or CyberGhost VPN. In my tests, it displayed the alacrity of a sprightly hare, loading most sites in 1–2 seconds and streaming HD and 4K videos with only a 2-4 second lag.
The provider also shines in the streaming department, pairing well with over 10 prominent streaming services, including the likes of Netflix, Disney+, and Amazon Prime Video. Its regard for torrenting is equally high, allowing P2P file traffic on a staggering 4,500+ servers across 45+ countries. However, it must be noted that its servers in Dubai, unlike those of Private Internet Access, are somewhat aloof to torrenting.
In terms of user-friendliness, NordVPN’s apps are as straightforward as a jigsaw puzzle for toddlers. A quick-connect button allows you to hitch a ride on the fastest server in a jiffy, and the interactive map, much like a well-behaved butler, makes finding and connecting to any location a matter of mere seconds.
SurfsharkVPN
If you're in Dubai and your pockets are feeling a trifle shallow, then Surfshark, with its servers stationed right in the city and its economical pricing plans, could very well be your knight in shining armour.
Sporting good-natured support for streaming and torrenting, this affable VPN is perfectly content letting you torrent on all its servers and romp about on streaming platforms such as Netflix and Amazon Prime. However, it exhibits a certain aloofness towards Disney+ (a service that ExpressVPN and other VPNs on this list entertain with open arms).
When it comes to security, Surfshark squares its shoulders and wades in with gusto. Operating on RAM-only servers, employing perfect forward secrecy, and brandishing an audited no-logs policy, it's as secure as a vault in Fort Knox. Although it does provide a leak protection service, it only stands guard against DNS leaks, unlike its more protective brethren on this list that extend their protection services to full leaks.
In the speed category, Surfshark puts up a respectable performance. Websites and videos take about 2–3 seconds to get going, and HD and 4K videos run with only the merest hint of buffering.
The provider’s apps deserve a round of applause for their user-friendliness. With an interface as intuitive as a seasoned butler, it hardly takes 4–5 seconds to locate and connect to a server. Furthermore, all features and settings are accompanied by helpful explanations, taking the guesswork out of the equation. An additional feather in Surfshark’s cap is its support for unlimited connections, a feature that has me nodding in appreciative approval.
The Gentleman's Guide to Selecting the Bee's Knees of VPNs in Dubai for 2023
The first thing to cast your peepers over when hunting for a VPN is the size of its server network. The old adage 'the more, the merrier' holds water here. I'd recommend whittling down your options to those VPNs that have a presence in Dubai or its neighbourly nations like Egypt, Israel, or Sri Lanka. Most of my top picks have at least one foot in the door in Dubai.
Security is your next port of call. Every VPN on my shortlist boasts industry-standard security trimmings, including the impenetrable 256-bit encryption, a kill switch that unceremoniously cuts your Internet connection when your VPN link trips up, a no-logs policy, and a shield against DNS, IPv6, or WebRTC leaks.
A VPN that treats speed as a virtue is a must. Though VPNs are known to put a mild damper on your connection due to the encryption rigmarole, with a top-notch VPN, the slowdown would be as noticeable as a flea on an elephant. My endorsements only include VPNs that keep up a sprightly pace for all online frolics — ExpressVPN, my top choice, leads the pack in the speed department.
Go for a VPN that's as user-friendly as an affable concierge. The VPNs on this roster come equipped with intuitive apps that make finding and connecting to any server a veritable breeze.
A VPN with a knack for streaming and P2P support should also be in your crosshairs. Each one on my list is a seasoned entertainer when it comes to streaming and collaborates seamlessly with big-shot platforms like Netflix and Amazon Prime. Moreover, these VPNs support torrenting, albeit not all permit P2P traffic on their Dubai servers. Private Internet Access and Surfshark, however, are generous souls and support torrenting across their entire server repertoire.
Lastly, zero in on a VPN that offers bang for your buck. My recommendations only extend to those VPNs that allow multiple connections, feature apps for all the big-name operating systems, and boast a money-back guarantee as generous as a rich uncle.

2023.06.08 03:53 prettydotty_ This time of year is too exhausting for me

It's the time of year for change, for spring cleaning, for going out and doing stuff and having fun. Apparently. But for me it's a time of closing my eyes and wishing it could be over so the darkness and short days can come with it. I work in the social services and my partner does wildfires so this time of year feels like death to me. Everyone goes out to have fun! ie. People OD or get hurt, injured, attempt suicide, have explosive fights with their partners. My partner who is my main support goes off to fight wildfires at the drop of a hat. Just in the span of a week I've had to call 911 for a person who was doing poorly mentally, visit someone who attempted suicide in the hospital, talk my best friend down from many breakdowns because her ex is a pos, and see a video of a drunk parent yell belligerently at their child and try to swing at them.
Couple weeks ago a child I knew through work was murdered in a ditch and now their family is traumatized. I hate this time of year so much. Shit always goes down. People die. And the sun relentlessly burns down on me refusing to give me lower stimulation in this ugly bright world that's baring all for me to see. I recharge when the world is resting. But how can I do that when the world is busy running around getting itself into trouble. I have my boundaries sure, but some shit is just gonna fuck you up regardless of when you turn your work phone off for the day. That and around this time 5 years ago I got ptsd from a violent encounter with a close family member so that remembrance isn't exactly helping here.
I just wanna get off this ride. 😩

2023.06.08 03:09 ineedabettertitle I used to be a homicide detective. Now I work for a cult.

I had three things on my mind walking home.
Firstly, figuring out how to get a ride back home. My best guess was that I was a good thirty minute drive from any type of civilization. There was a small possibility a car might come along from across the distance, but the chance they were heading in the same direction I was, was even slimmer.
I mean, I could probably manage to hotwire a car back at the farmhouse. But I didn't want to go back there. Not yet.
The second thing on my mind was my lack of shoes. The rocks were tough and sharp under my feet, scraping them raw with every aching footstep. I had settled on walking on the muddy, yet less painful, grass on the side. But I still wondered why. Of all the thing the man at the table could've taken from me, he took shoes.
It was a pretty clear answer, however. Mental games. He hires someone to drop me off in the middle of nowhere, with no feasible way of getting back. He knew the first thing I'd want to do is leave. So he took my shoes. He gave me two options, and he wanted to make one that displeased him hurt me, even if it was only in a small, petty way,
Mental games.
The last thing was that I had messed up. Badly. I had continually played into the man at the table's hand. He had always been two steps ahead of me and in hindsight, it was foolish of me to go confront him. I suppose I had visions of bravado, and of revenge, but all I had to show for it was one less arm, and a dead friend.
I can admit that I shouldn't have done that. But I can also change. One short phone call to the police, and I'd get rid of this nightmare. I had an address. I had a confession. I had evidence. And I had made up my mind. No longer I would face all this by myself.
I pulled my phone out of my pocket and dialed 911. No service. Great.
I continued walking for another twenty minutes, before I heard the roar of a car engine behind me. I turned around. There was a car peeking over the horizon, coming from where I came from, and going the direction I was going. Perfect. It was an old blue Chevy, that rumbled across the gravel, kicking up a plume of dust as it went.
I stuck my thumb out.
In that moment, I probably didn't look like someone you'd want to pick of the road, with missing shoes and only one arm, and all. But there was no harm in trying. I was hoping it was a kind farmer from hereabouts, heading to the main town to do some weekly shopping. The Chevy made its way to me, and I saw the driver eye me up and down, before pulling onto the shoulder of the road.
I opened the and hopped into the passengers side, thanking the driver. He shifted his position to look at me. Well, rather look past me. He had short, cropped hair, three-day stubble, and a faraway look in his eyes, as if he couldn't rest his gaze, or if he was always searching into the distance.
It was the paramedic, from earlier.
I opened the door and got out. I wasn't doing this again. I would rather walk home. The paramedic drove forward a bit, cutting me off from the road, so that I would have to walk around his car to go forwards. I stopped walking. The paramedic got out of his car.
"Hey, Jonathan." He said, waving.
I didn't respond.
He moved forward towards me and extended a hand. I didn't accept it. He held it there for an uncomfortably long period of time, before placing it back by his side. "Look. We got of the wrong foot here. The name's Michael. It's a pleasure to meet you again."
"The pleasure's all yours." I said, dripping with distaste.
He looked forward, his gaze shifting in and out of focus. "So. . .uh. You called 911. I can't let you do that."
"How did you know that?" I questioned.
He shrugged. "GPS tracker. In your arm. Shows us your location, and interferes with phone signals as well. Took the liberty of inserting it when you were out cold."
It wasn't a service signal problem, then.
He shifted position, and leaned against his car. "So, I'm going to set it to you straight. Come back with us. You obviously can't be trusted to not go back to the police. Let's make this fair. We're not here to hurt you. You said you'd work for us. Come back, Jonathan."
"And how would you stop me from going?" I said, tensing up for a fight.
He shook his head, looking hurt. He grabbed his keys from his pocket, and pressed a button connected to the keychain. I fell down in pain, as a sharp buzzing sensation shook my body, the intensity increasing ever few seconds.
Michael let go off the button. "I forgot to mention. The tracker also doubles as a. . .safety precaution. You just experienced setting three. Trust me, you wouldn't like setting eight." He tapped his eyes. "Messes up your internal hardware, as I'm sure you've noticed. Setting ten straight up kills you."
I automatically looked at my right arm. Inside of it, somewhere, was a small death machine.
"So, Jonathan. Will you come back?"
I didn't have much of a choice.
The drive back was uneventful, and spent mostly in silence. Every time Michael tried to start a conversation, I brushed him of with one word answers. I wanted to make it clear I didn't want to be here.
He pulled up the small driveway towards the farmhouse. The man at the table was sitting on the porch waiting for me. He knew I was coming. He tells me I have a choice in whether I leave or not, but I never really did. The illusion of choice.
Mental games.
He stood up to greet me as I got out of the car. "Jonathan! You're back! I am so glad to see you!" He waved me inside. "Come on in. I've got so much to tell you! The others are eating breakfast."
I walked in with him, towards the dining room where I had first met him. Seated around the table, there was a large group of nineteen people eating bacon and eggs, and various other breakfast items.
I knew most of them.
There was Sgt Langley, slathering some butter on bread. She smiled and waved at me as I came in.
Eddison was sitting beside her, pouring milk into a glass. He turned away from me, not wanting to look me in the eyes, I suppose. He was embarrassed to be here.
There was various other people I had seen in my time in the field,. Other paramedics and police officers, politicians, journalists, doctors and surgeons. All sharing a pleasant meal together. In the house of a murderer.
The man clapped his hands from behind me. "Ok, everyone! Let's make Jonathan feel welcome around here. He's the latest Keeper, but we're still expecting many more"
"Welcome, Jonathan." A unison of voices said.
I scanned the room, my throat dry and constricted. This was too much.
The man walked away and beckoned me towards him. He continued to walk through the house, pointing out every room, and giving a rundown of the layout. A kitchen, two living rooms, and three bathrooms spread across two stories. There was also a couple of bedrooms inside, but it seemed to me everyone was sleeping in tents outside.
He then took me down to the basement. "This is where the magic happens." He said, with a wink.
It was as I left it. A large operating table covered in dried blood filled the middle of the room. It was surrounded with various machinery, and tools. It was a stark contrast between a sterile IV machine on one side, and a rusted saw hanging of a nail on the other. And in the middle of it all were cameras, set up on tripods around the room.
I inspected one more closely. "What are the cameras for?" I asked.
The man chuckled slightly. "How else do you think I get the money to pay for all of this?"
I turned around to face him, the cogs clicking in my head. "You. . .sell videos of people being tortured."
He smiled. "You get it. Torture porn is extremely popular in some places of the internet. It's not the main reason I do this, of course. But it helps the cause. The video of your arm being sold, for example, was sold for just shy of five thousand." He clasped his eyes behind his back, seemingly very pleased with himself. "I cut paid to cut off a few legs, and then I have the money to cut off more than just legs. It's an endless cycle. It's perfect. You've seen firsthand the fruits of this system." He nodded towards the door on the side, still marked with elephant.
He continued. "That's where I keep my work-in-progresses. Of course, it's empty now. Which is a shame. He was shaping up to be my best elephant yet. No matter, we've got a cat picked out and coming in soon."
I shuddered at the way he talked about Thompson with such blasé. As if what had happened to him was a natural, everyday occurrence. It sickened me. There was no way somebody could do this all day, and believe themselves to be good.
There was something else as well, burning in the back of my mind. "You said before that the night my sister was kidnapped, she was doing something that I didn't know. What was it?"
He was silent for a moment. "How close were you with your sister?"
I shrugged. "Close enough. We talked about once a month, and came over every Christmas."
"Do you know what she did for work?"
"Yeah. She was studying something. Some sort of advanced anesthetic. She never worked it out, however."
"She did." He simply said. He waited for me to process that before continuing. "I met Alice on an online forum. From the beginning, she fascinated me. She talked about how the world was corrupt and poisoned by humanity, and her ideas for rebirth and restoration. She had plans, Jonathan. So many plans. Everything you see here is a result of her work. We met up at one point and clicked. She was perfect. She was smart. And she was mine."
"Then. . .why did you kill her?" I asked.
I could see his eyes clouding up, as if he was on the verge of tears. "Her anesthetic didn't work as intended. Instead of removing pain, it increased it. The way it truly works is beyond me, but even a little dose causes the most unimaginable pain. It feels as if your body is being removed from the inside and replaced with fire, atom by atom. Death would be preferable. But that's the thing, the anesthetic one small side-effect. It's downright impossible to die when the effects take hold. You just have to endure through the pain."
"So all the people I saw. . .?" I let my question trail of.
"It's easy to manipulate someone's body when they don't have the strength to retaliate, nor the capability to die." He paused, his body quivering with each shaky breath. "Alice wanted to be the first. She wanted to be the pioneer as the world transitioned into her vision. I begged her not to, as there were other, more suitable candidates. But she insisted.
And so we staged a kidnapping. There was no evidence because there was no struggle. There was nothing. She came to this farmhouse, and was the first person to be operated on that table. I spent years placing toothpicks in her skin, while she was drugged up under her special anesthetic. She pushed through the pain, and continued to talk to me. Sharing ideas that I would have never thought possible.
She told me to find others. In places of power. And if they wouldn't join willingly, then find a way to force them. Soon enough, they would come to realize we're working for the benefit of humanity. She told me to create animal-human hybrids to begin with. An evolution of our species. And the last thing she told me, before I laid her to rest in a park, was to find you. To hire you. To change your vision. And here you are."
I stood in silence. I, in fact, didn't know what to say. Everything that I though I knew about my sister was shattered in an instant. It was possible the man was lying. There was no way she really was a some sort of insane fanatical, hell-bent on torturing people.
It just wasn't the person I knew.
And yet, everything made sense. I didn't want to believe him, but I didn't see any way that I couldn't. He was right, and I knew it.
The man looked back at me. "Come, Jonathan. I've got one more thing you need to see."
He led me up, out of the basement, and through the back door. He led me past a large vegetable garden, and rows upon rows of tents, most of them unoccupied.
They were expecting many more.
I followed him past a fireplace, with upturned stumps placed in a circle around it, to the large barn behind the farmhouse. It was painted a classic red with a sloping roof, and white barn doors. I could hear various noises emanating from inside, different loud sounds, moans, and scrapes, seemingly as if a large machine was inside.
Or a large number of people.
"This," The man said, gesturing at the barn. "Is my crowning achievement. My life's work. It is the beginning of the vision that Alice had for the world. This is where your induction will take place, and you will become a fully fledged Keeper. You will learn to be a bringer of justice, and a waymaker into the new world."
He walked in front of me, and opened the large doors., letting me take a glimpse inside. It was dark and musky. "Welcome, Jonathan." He exclaimed. "To the human zoo!"
I stepped inside.
The smell hit me like a tidal wave. It smelled strongly of blood and fetid remains that permeated the air like a blanket. It gave me a nauseous feeling, and sent my head whirling, as it tried to breathe in clean air. It was no use. I felt a rush of bile spill out of my stomach and into my throat. I turned to the side and threw up onto the floor. And judging by the mess down there, I was not the first.
There was rows upon rows of cages, all lined up from wall to wall. In each cage there seemed to be. . .someone, and by the looks of it, most of them were already dead. Each cage was labeled with a different creature name. There was a worm, who had all of her limbs removed, and seemed to have segmented body parts every couple of inches, and was forced to crawl around by using her head as an anchor.
There was various dogs and cats, long needles inserted into the cheeks in place of whiskers, they had everything below their elbows and knees removed, forcing them to walk on all fours. Other human-animals had parts of their bodies elongated or exaggerate, turning them into various creatures. It didn't seem possible to look like that and live.
All of the inhabitants of the human zoo were filthy and ragged, cramped up in small living conditions and forced to eat small portions of what looked to be rotting meat, only fit for animals. When I walked past, they looked up at me with sorrowful, pleading eyes. They wanted freedom, just like Thompson. They were broken and they were hurt. But they seemed resigned to the fact that they were going to live out the rest of their lives here. There was no resistance in any of them. There was no struggle. They had all given up.
This place was hell.
It was hard to think clearly, the smell continued to invade my brain, and dampening my vision with black patches. My heart was pounding in my chest, a result of the horrors that laid before me. I couldn't breath. I couldn't move. This was all too much.
The man continued walking forwards. "This is where I hold all current specimens, before I decide to release them into captivity. And this is where you and all the other Keepers will work, feeding the specimens, continuing their evolution, and cleaning their chambers."
My blood boiled. He didn't care about the pain he caused. Nothing fazed him. "You're treating people like animals! This is inhumane!" I yelled at him.
He looked at me with disappointment. "Look at them. They are animals. This is all for the cause, anyways. Later on they will be glad to learn that they were the first steps in the evolution of humanity."
He led me forwards, until we ended up at a massive hole in the floor, in the middle of the barn. It was about ten meters in diameter, and the bottom seemed to stretch downwards for five or so meters. There didn't seem to be any way in or out.
The man spoke. "This is where every Keeper before you has proved themselves worthy of Keeper status. Your induction begins now."
I felt a large shove on my back. The momentum carried my body over the edge of the hole, with my feet quickly following suit. In an instant reflex, I covered my head with the nook of my remaining arm, and leaned forward, hoping to catch the grunt of the fall on my knees, before rolling away.
I landed with a large thump, which sent volts of pain rippling through my body, and spread me flat across the ground. I laid there, still. The breath was taken out of my lungs, and my knees felt if they had shattered. I tilted my head up, to get a clearer look at where I was. A small, dusty hole, in the middle of a barn where people went to die. Nothing special about it.
There was movement in the corner of my vision.
It was something circling me, walking with a slight strut, and over-the-top movements, as if it was hard to stay balanced. Every step it made caused a sharp clacking sound to echo throughout the hole. I slowly got up, despite the pain. I swiveled my body to the side to get a better look, even if it was under dim light.
The first thing that made itself clear was that the thing had no neck. Its head ended at its shoulders. The second thing was that it had no eyelids. It stared at me with large, unblinking eyes, taking in every movement. The third was the sharp, steel talons that protruded from every fingertip.
And then it opened its wings. It spread its arms out wide, to reveal a quilt-work of human flesh stitched together under its arms. It looked at me for a few moments, head cocked, arms in a display of aggression, then it swiveled its head around. A full one hundred-and-eighty degrees. I was looking at a human owl.
The owl lunged forward, talons aimed directly at my chest. I lunged to the side, fearing for my life once more since the past few days. I wasn't fast enough. Its talons ripped through my clothes like butter, and left three large gashes across my chest. I ignored the pain, and immediately turned around to face the owl. The penalty for letting my guard down would be death.
The owl was still facing the inner wall of the hole. It twisted its head around to face me, its large eyes looking at me with an intense hatred. I panicked, and hopped backwards, aiming to avoid another attack from the owl. But then I came to my senses. If I was going to survive, I knew I had to make a move right away. The longer I tarried, the weaker I would become, and the lower my chances of living through this would become.
I threw myself at one of its wings, hoping to bring the owl down. It avoided me. In a lapse of judgement, I forgot to realize there was still a human under all of that, wanting to avoid death as much as I did. I rolled backwards, and leaped to my feet. The owl lunged at me again, talons extended. My first instinct was to dodge once more, but I suppressed it. The owl would be expecting that. I instead waited until the last moment, and threw myself into the steadily approaching owl.
I caught it off guard.
The owl flailed backwards, stumbling under my weight. I dug my fingers in the small gap between its head and shoulders, and started tearing of the stitches that held them together. The owl continued to thrash, realizing what I was doing. It dropped to the ground, and tried to claw me of its back, but couldn't reach because of its wings.
I continued to tear. One after another. I could feel the tension loosening. Another couple minutes of this, and I would be home free. The owl's movements started to decrease in intensity, and hit seemed to realize the battle had been won. I removed on last stitch, and the rest of the owl's head came of easily, dripping with blood.
I threw it to the ground and collapsed, exhausted.
I woke up in one of the bedrooms. My chest hurt like hell. I sat up in the bed, and pulled the covers away. There was three large scars across my chest, painful and tender to the touch, but obviously treated by someone. I looked outside a nearby window. It was the dead of night. I couldn't hear any noises inside, so I assumed everyone was outside in a tent, sleeping. Everyone except the man. He was sitting in the chair, and simply watching me sleep.
Mind games.
He looked at me as I stood up and raised an eyebrow. I began to walk over to him, despite the pain. He clasped his hands together. "Well done. You are now a Keeper."
I continued my slow journey.
"You asked me once what my main purpose was in doing all this. It's for everyone. You. Me. All the peoples of earth. Humanity is the highest lifeform. I am treating it as such. With my guidance, and your help, humanity will enter a new era. A new evolution."
I still made my way towards him. Everyone's outside. I'm alone with him.
"This was your sister's vision, and then it became mine. I am eager to see it become yours." He tensed up in his chair slightly. "This is not the only human zoo out there, we have spread our philosophy, and we are many. But go ahead, kill me. Continue the cycle. You will follow your sister's footsteps and lead the world into salvation."
I didn't think about it twice. I grabbed a vase of the bedside table and ran at him, weapon raised. There was a flash of fear in his eyes. Clearly, he didn't actually expect me to do that. He wasted precious seconds fumbling for his key chain.
I swung the vase onto his head.
He pressed a button on his keychain.
The jolt of electricity struck my entire body. The pain was so much worse then I had previously experienced. Each separate buzz sent my entire body thrashing against itself. I tried to push past the pain, and get a hold of the button, but I couldn't move by myself, let alone think.
Setting ten will straight up kill you.
My vision turned a searing white. I could feel my organs vibrating within myself. The pain was endless and unrelenting. This was how I went. The electricity was frying my insides, turning it into a liquid mush.
And then it stopped. It took a while to regain my vision, but even then it was unfocused and blurry. The man was still lying on the ground, breathing but unconscious. Pieces of the vase were still ingrained into his skull, sending small trickles of blood down his face. I removed one and slit his throat. It wasn't the death he deserved, considering all that he did.
But it was what he got.
I stumbled out of the room, to see Eddison pouring what looked like to be gasoline on the floor. I tensed up, ready for another fight. He put the gasoline can down and put his hands up.
"Hey, man. You can relax. I'm the one who helped you out there. You would have died if it wasn't for me."
I scanned his face, and I believed him. I put my fists down.
He continued. "I hated it here as well, but I could never find an opportunity to strike back. What you did was very brave."
"What are you doing?" I asked.
"Blowing up this fucking hellhole." He simply said.
We worked together for a few hours, silently and in the dark. He had almost finished with the farmhouse, so we moved onto the barn, and finished with the tents. We ended up at Michael's car, and Eddison handed me a lit match. Signifying that he wanted me to do it.
I didn't give a damn anymore. Everything could burn.
I threw the match into a puddle of gasoline, and quickly drove of with Eddison, before the small fire turned into a raging inferno. We were about two miles out when the night sky was lit up in a burst of white light.
It was done.
Eddison turned to me. "Where are we going, then?"
I gazed into the rearview mirror, watching the horizon be engulfed in flame. There was the wail of firetrucks moving in from the distance. Someone must have called it in. I looked forward, at the gravel road in front of me, pondering the question.
"Home."

Please check part 1 and 2 for context.
The Tonpa Kingdoms Part 1 (Overview and The Gods) : worldbuilding (reddit.com)
The Tonpa Kingdoms Part 2 (The Kingdoms of Jangshun and Monyul) : worldbuilding (reddit.com)
Tsaparang
Tsaparang is a Kingdom to the east of the other Tonpa Kingdoms, it is marked by thick jungles and winding rivers, a small number of mountains dot the landscape to the west, on the border with Jangshun and Monyul.
The jungles of Tsaparang are known for their dense vegetation and towering trees, with rivers that cut through the landscape and create a network of waterways. The jungle clearings are dotted with small villages, where the people of Tsaparang live and work in harmony with nature.
The people of Tsaparang have learned to live with the challenges of the jungle environment, including the risk of flooding during the rainy season and the dangers posed by wild animals. Despite these challenges, the jungle provides a wealth of resources for the people, including medicinal plants, exotic fruits, and valuable timber. The villagers have developed their own unique way of life, with a deep respect for the natural world and a strong sense of community. They work together to maintain their homes and farms, and to protect the jungle from outsiders who might seek to exploit its resources.
The kingdom of Tsaparang was founded by a legendary warrior king named Raja Dhananj, who converted to Tonpa and united several smaller kingdoms in the area left over from the Indraprastha Empire under his rule, he named it after a fortress city on the border of Monyul that was essential to his victory, he eventually built a grand capital city on the banks of the Brahmaputra River, which he named after himself – Dhananjpur.
The city is a bustling center of trade and commerce, and soon became known throughout the region for its wealth and prosperity. Over time, Dhananjpur grew into a magnificent city, with grand palaces, beautiful temples, and bustling markets, the most famous of which is the floating markets called Jalbazaar.
Jalbazaar is situated on the banks of the Brahmaputra River, which flows through the heart of the district. The district is famous for its bustling waterways, where vendors sell their wares from boats and barges that are moored along the riverbank. The floating markets of Jalbazaar are a riot of color and activity, with vendors hawking their wares to eager customers. The markets sell everything from fresh produce and seafood to handicrafts and textiles. The markets are busiest in the early morning, when fishermen bring in their catch from the river and vendors begin setting up their stalls. The air is filled with the smells of spices, cooking food, and fresh flowers, creating a heady atmosphere that is unique to Jalbazaar. Visitors to the floating markets can sample a wide variety of local delicacies, including steaming bowls of spicy fish curry, crispy fritters made from lentils and vegetables, and sweet desserts made from coconut and mango.
To the west of Dannajpur lies the village of Pashupati, the village sits on the edge of a dense jungle, its thatched-roof houses built on stilts to protect them from flooding during the monsoon season. At the center of the village is an ancient temple dedicated to the Dharmist God Pashupati, said to have been built by a powerful Thakur long ago. However, the temple has fallen into disrepair over the centuries, and now it is overrun with large cats, both tame and wild. The villagers believe that the cats are the guardians of the temple, and they feed and care for them as best they can. Some of the cats are even considered sacred, and are allowed to roam freely throughout the village. Despite the presence of the cats and the fact that the villagers abandoned Dharmism for Tonpa over a hundred years ago, the temple is still an important place of for the villagers, the temple's crumbling walls are adorned with faded murals depicting scenes from ancient legends and there is a sense of mystery and magic that pervades the place. Outsiders aren't rare in the village as it sits along an important road between two cities, but the villagers are wary of strangers who do not respect the cats, the temple or their ancient ways. However, they are hospitable and generous to those who show the cats respect and kindness.
The second most populous city in Tsaparang is called Serindia, it is nestled in the heart of a lush green valley, surrounded by towering cliffs on all sides, this small community has long been known for its bustling markets and vibrant culture. At the center of town, stands a magnificent castle, home to the ruling family of Serindia. Built from the finest stone and marble, the castle boasts towering walls and a grand hall where the noble lords and ladies of the land convene to discuss matters of great importance. But it's not just the castle that makes Serindia special. Just outside of town lies a sprawling grove of wild mango trees, known throughout the region for their delicious, juicy fruit. Every year, travelers from far and wide come to Serindia to sample the famous mangoes and to attend the lively festivals that celebrate the town's bountiful harvest.
The Company of the Wind have a large office in Serendia as every year people request them to deliver these magnificent mangoes so often.
As you wander the winding streets of Serindia, you'll encounter a diverse array of merchants and craftsmen, each offering unique wares and trades. You might stop by the blacksmith's shop to watch as he expertly hammers out a new sword, or perhaps you'll visit the town's resident healer, who is renowned for her ability to cure all manner of ailments.
The kingdom of Tsaparang is renowned for its skilled craftsmen and artisans, who create beautiful textiles, intricate jewelry, and exquisite pottery. The kingdom is also famous for its fine cuisine, which blends the flavors of local spices with influences from neighboring regions. Tsaparang has been ruled by a succession of wise and just kings and queens, who are respected and loved by their subjects. The royal palace is a grand structure, with beautiful gardens and courtyards, and is home to a vast library that contained works of literature and philosophy from throughout the world. The kingdom of Tsaparang is also known for its military might, and its armies are feared by neighboring kingdoms. However, the rulers of Tsaparang prefer diplomacy and trade over war, and are respected for their ability to negotiate peaceful solutions to disputes, the most famous army regiment of the Kingdom is called The Jungle Snakes.
The Jungle Snakes is a feared and respected regiment of soldiers who are known for their unique and deadly combination of a large tower shield and a short spear, this is meant to emulate a snake striking from the foliage of the jungle while the large shield allows the user to strike from safety. The soldiers of the Jungle Snakes are expert fighters, they train in their own unique martial art which requires them to train in the use of whip-swords, a sword made with a flexible whip like blade, although relatively useless in a large scale battle these swords are deadly in one-on-one fights and it is believed training with them develops agility and hand eye coordination. The Jungle Snakes is made up of elite soldiers who are chosen for their physical strength, agility, and quick reflexes, they are fiercely loyal to their kingdom and their commanders, and are known for their bravery and determination in battle. The Jungle Snakes are key component of the Tsaparang army, and are often called upon to guard royalty in battle. Their unique weapon and fighting style make them a formidable opponent, and they are feared and respected by enemies and allies alike.
Tashigang
Nestled deep within a treacherous and barely hospitable mountain range lies the kingdom of Taishigang, protected by rugged terrain and guarded by fiercely loyal soldiers. The people of this kingdom are rugged and tough, accustomed to the harsh conditions of their environment and deeply connected to the land that sustains them.
The tallest mountain in the known world is nestled within its borders, it is a revered holy site believed to be the last place on Earth the physical forms of the Three Gods were seen.
Taishigang is named after the two main ethnic groups that reside in the area, the Taishi and the Gangparan, occupying the north-west and the south-east respectively, the Taishi are said to be early cousins of the Jangshun people who migrated into the area hundreds of years before and the Gangparan are a group of people who escaped from the fall of the Indraprastha empire by migrating to the mountains. The kingdom is ruled by a council of clan leaders, with one among them being High Chief and first among equals, these leaders are chosen by their clans for their strength, cunning, and wisdom and in turn these leaders choose one among them to be High Chief, these leaders make decisions that affect the entire kingdom, and they are known for their fierce loyalty to the land and the people. The economy of the kingdom is based on mining and lumber, with the rugged landscape yielding valuable minerals and timber. The inhabitants of the kingdom work as miners and lumberjacks, extracting these resources from the earth and using them to build their homes and defenses.
Taishigang is home to a religious order of healers called “The Order of Spring” who are a a highly respected group of monks, the members of this order are known for their extensive knowledge of herbal medicine and natural remedies, as well as their spiritual practices that are believed to aid in the healing process. The Order of Spring has a long-standing tradition of passing down their healing techniques and knowledge from generation to generation, ensuring that their skills and expertise are not lost over time they are highly revered by the people of Taishigang, who often seek their help when they are sick or injured. Due to the harsh climate and rugged terrain of Taishigang, the Order of Spring has developed unique healing methods that are tailored to the specific challenges of the environment. They are experts in treating frostbite, hypothermia, altitude sickness, and other ailments that are common in cold, mountainous regions.
The members of the Order of Spring are dedicated to their craft and often travel far and wide in search of rare and unique ingredients to use in their remedies. They are known to journey deep into the mountain ranges and even venture into neighboring kingdoms to track down plants and herbs that are believed to hold powerful healing properties. Despite their extensive knowledge and skills, the healers of the Order of Spring are humble and compassionate. They offer their services to anyone in need, regardless of their social status or wealth. It is said that their selfless dedication to healing has helped to foster a strong sense of community and trust within the kingdom of Taishigang. The capital city of Taishigang is called Dzonggar, which means "fortress on the mountain" in the ancient language of the region. It is situated on a massive mountain peak that is over 4,000 meters high, with steep cliffs and a treacherous climb to reach the top. The city is built on multiple levels that follow the contours of the mountain, with each level connected by steep staircases and winding paths. The uppermost level of Dzonggar is the highest point in the city and is home to the Dragar Dzong, which serves as the administrative center for the region.
The Dzong is an imposing fortress with thick walls, ornate carvings, and intricate murals depicting scenes from Tonpa mythology. The upper level is also home to several important temples and monasteries that offer stunning views of the surrounding mountains. As one descends the mountain, the levels become more densely populated with homes and businesses. The middle levels of the city are home to bustling marketplaces, where merchants sell everything from spices to textiles to pottery. The lower levels of the city are home to workshops and industry, where artisans create beautiful handicrafts using traditional techniques. The city's buildings are made of stone and wood, with sloping roofs to withstand heavy snowfall. The streets are narrow and winding, with small shops and homes perched on the edge of the mountain. Each level of the city is connected by steep staircases and winding paths, making navigation through the city a challenging but rewarding experience. Despite its rugged location and challenging terrain, Dzonggar is a bustling city with a vibrant culture.
The people of Dzonggar are known for their colorful textiles, intricate woodcarvings, and exquisite metalwork. The city is also famous for its festivals, which are held throughout the year to celebrate the changing seasons, important religious holidays, and the city's rich cultural heritage. The military of the kingdom is composed of skilled rangers and guerilla warriors, trained to navigate the treacherous mountain terrain and to use it to their advantage. The rangers are experts in archery and hunting, the most famous regiment from Taishigang is called The Mountain Demons.
The Mountain Demons are an elite fighting force said to be established by the Lhakpa dynasty, the Mountain Demons only take the tallest of warriors some are said to reach up to 2 meters high, when one is chosen they go on a diet of carbs and protein to gain body mass, their training regiment consists of lifting heavy things and running long distances carrying heavy boulders, in battle they carry massive heavy weapons like hammers, clubs and sometimes even heavy metal gloves. Taishigang is home to the famous Druk-Lha Tsham, the Dragon-Tooth Forest, an expansive woodland that stretches across the western part of the Kingdom. The forest is named after the imposing mountain range that rises up from the trees like the teeth of a dragon.
The forest is home to a diverse array of flora and fauna, including towering pine trees, colorful wildflowers, and a variety of wildlife such as deer, foxes, and even the occasional black bear, streams and rivers flow through the forest in the summer, providing water for the plants and animals that call it home. Despite its natural beauty, the Dragon-Tooth Forest is also home to danger. Bandits and outlaws are known to hide within its depths, preying on travelers who venture too far from the safety of the nearby villages.
The forest is home to the village of Kulik a unique place where the houses are built high among the trees, the villagers live in beautiful treehouses connected by a network of wooden bridges that wind their way through the forest. The houses are made from local wood and are decorated with carvings of animals and intricate patterns. Some houses have balconies where the villagers can sit and enjoy the beautiful views of the forest.
The village has a central meeting place where the villagers gather to socialize and discuss village matters, the meeting place is just outside the only stone building in the village, the Lalimamandir, said to be a stone temple dedicated to the Dharmist God Lalima but repurposed into the home of the ruling Gurung Clan, the Gurung, saw similarities between Lalima and Caihong, who after a lengthy purification process instead dedicated the building to The Mother but kept the original name to honour the builders. The villagers are self-sufficient and grow their own food in small gardens and farms scattered throughout the forest. They also hunt and fish in the nearby rivers and streams. The villagers are known for their hospitality and welcome visitors with open arms, inviting them to stay in their beautiful treehouses and share in their way of life.
The people of the kingdom of Taishigang hold a special reverence for Caihong for it is her practical ways that help them survive the rugged terrain. The people of the kingdom have a rich artistic and musical tradition, heavily influenced by their connection to the land and the animals. They are known for their intricate carvings, woven textiles, and colorful paintings, as well as their haunting music and dance.
Khotesh
Khotesh is a kingdom to the west, most of it is located in a vast and arid desert, with small portion of the Kingdom located on grassy planes and snow-capped mountains. The kingdom is known for its rugged terrain, with towering sand dunes, rocky outcroppings, and deep canyons. Most of its people are former nomads who converted to the religion of Tonpa and settled in one place, but there are still some nomadic people who travel with their herds across the desert. The people of Khotesh practice religion fervently, with Tonpa's teachings serving as the foundation for their daily lives. Their art and architecture reflect the influence of the Three Gods, with intricate carvings and paintings of Tonpa and his disciples adorning the walls of many buildings in the kingdom. The kingdom is ruled by a powerful monarch who resides in a grand palace in the capital city of Khanbalik. The palace is a majestic structure with domed roofs and intricate carvings, surrounded by lush gardens and fountains. Despite the harshness of the environment, the people of Khotesh have a rich cultural heritage. They are proud of their nomadic roots, and many still wear traditional clothing and practice traditional customs. The former nomads who settled in one place have formed close-knit communities, and their hospitality to travelers is legendary. Its capital city; Khanbalik is a built upon the grassy plains of the hills to the east of the Kingdom. The city is situated at the junction of several trade routes, which has made it a hub of commerce and culture. Its walls are made of wood and earth, with watchtowers at regular intervals to provide defense against raiders and invaders. The city is known for its harsh and unpredictable climate, with hot winds blowing in from the desert and cold winds descending from the mountains. These winds collide over Khanbalik, creating powerful storms that batter the city every autumn and spring. The storms bring heavy rains, lightning, and hail, making travel and trade difficult during these seasons, it is said that the sun-showers that regularly bathe the city in this time are a meeting of the Three Gods as the Sun, Wind and Rain are all aspects of Caihong, Druk-Ta and Daiden respectively, people often dance in the streets when a sun-shower happens. Despite the challenges posed by the climate, Khanbalik remains a vibrant and bustling city. The streets are crowded with people from all walks of life, from wealthy merchants to wandering nomads. The city is divided into districts based on trade and social status, with the grandest buildings located near the center of the city. The palace of the ruling Khan is one of the most impressive structures in Khanbalik, with ornate wooden carvings and sweeping roofs that curve upward like the wings of a bird. The temple district is also a popular destination for visitors to the city, with a variety of religions represented in the many shrines and sanctuaries.
Khanbalik is not only a bustling hub of commerce and culture, but it is also a melting pot of different ethnic groups and cultures. One of the unique features of Khanbalik is the seasonal influx of nomads who come to the city a few times a year during the changing of the seasons. As the seasons shift from summer to autumn and from winter to spring, nomadic herders from the surrounding grasslands and mountains make their way to Khanbalik to trade goods, socialize, and partake in the city's offerings. The changing of the seasons is a time of celebration and renewal, and the nomads play an important role in this cycle. During the autumn season, nomads bring with them fresh produce such as fruits, vegetables, and grains. They also bring livestock such as sheep, goats, and horses to sell in the city's markets. In turn, they purchase items such as tools, clothing, and other necessities that they cannot produce on their own. In the spring, nomads return to Khanbalik with wool, meat, and dairy products from their herds. They also bring with them handmade crafts such as felt blankets, rugs, and clothing, which they trade for goods that will sustain them throughout the summer months. The seasonal exchange between the nomads and the city-dwellers is an important part of the culture and economy of Khanbalik. It fosters a sense of community and interdependence between the different groups, and it has been a tradition for generations.
One of the most interesting places in Khotesh is the town of Rokhala, a town carved into a towering sandstone cliff that rises high above the surrounding plains, the town's location is strategic, as it is nestled in a valley along a popular trade route, making it a profitable place for a settlement, the entrance to the town is a narrow, winding path that cuts into the cliff face, providing a natural defense against invaders. The town is built in a series of caves and carved out of sandstone, with buildings made from the same material, the structures are connected by narrow walkways, staircases, and bridges that cross over the canyon below. The town has a unique charm with its rustic stone architecture and winding passageways that twist and turn, creating an intriguing labyrinth of alleys and streets. The town has a diverse population, including traders, craftsmen, and mushroom farmers who make use of shallow caves to grow them in.
The town is home to a massive sandstone mining operation that exports sandstone all over the known world, sandstone from Rokhala is seen in the Confucian Kingdoms to the East, the Dharmist Kingdoms to the South and even the Caliphist and Mazdan Kingdoms to the West. Another interesting sight in the deserts of Khotesh is Altan Gazar, a bustling caravan that travels in harmony with the seasonal migration of a massive herd of Ibex, tents and yurts, woven from the finest camel and goat hair, are packed up and loaded onto sturdy pack animals as the city prepares to move to its next destination, the inhabitants are skilled in the art of packing and unpacking, swiftly transforming their temporary dwellings into a well-organized mobile settlement. As the herd of Ibex moves across the arid landscape, guided by the keen eyes of the city's inhabitants, the nomadic city follows in its wake, the city's layout is flexible and adaptable, with a central encampment for the tribal leader and their entourage, surrounded by the dwellings of other important individuals and their families. Water is a precious commodity in the desert, and the city relies on natural springs and wells discovered along the migration route, the inhabitants are experts in locating and utilizing these hidden water sources, carefully managing their usage to sustain their community and animals throughout their journey, rainwater is also collected during rare showers and stored in large containers for times when water is scarce.
The Ibex is an integral part of life to Altan Gazar, most adults carry a drinking horn made of Ibex horn, Ibex meat is regularly consumed in the spring with various spices found in the semi-arid grassy plains of their spring migration pattern, Ibex blood is sometimes drunk when water is scarce, fermented Ibex milk is a regular drink among the adults and Ibex skins are worn during cold winter nights. The city's architecture is designed to be lightweight and portable, with structures made of woven mats, reeds, and mud bricks. The city's inhabitants are skilled in constructing and deconstructing their homes as they move, utilizing locally available materials. Life in the nomadic city is intertwined with the rhythm of the desert and the migratory patterns of the Ibex. The inhabitants have a deep bond with their animals, particularly camels, which are used for transportation, milk, and meat. The city is a hub of trade and commerce, with merchants and traders from nearby towns and villages joining the city's journey, bartering for goods and services along the way.
The army of Khotesh is renowned for its hardiness and combat prowess in desert conditions. The kingdom has a long history of fending off invasions and raids from neighboring regions, and its army is specifically trained to operate effectively in desert terrain. The soldiers of Khotesh are known for their ruggedness and resilience, with many of them hailing from nomadic backgrounds. They are skilled in mounted combat, with cavalry units comprising a significant portion of the army. These cavalry units are particularly adept at hit-and-run tactics, using their speed and mobility to strike quickly and then retreat before the enemy can respond.
In addition to cavalry, the army of Khotesh also includes infantry units that specialize in desert warfare. These soldiers are trained to navigate harsh terrain and extreme temperatures, and they are equipped with light armor and weapons that are well-suited for the desert environment. They are skilled in using terrain to their advantage, and are adept at setting ambushes and launching surprise attacks. One of the unique features of the Khotesh army is their use of desert animals in combat. The kingdom is home to a variety of animals that have been domesticated and trained for military purposes, including camels and falcons. Camels are particularly useful in desert warfare due to their ability to traverse long distances with little water, and they are often used to transport soldiers and supplies across the harsh desert terrain. Falcons, on the other hand, are used for scouting and reconnaissance, and are trained to locate and track enemy troops.
The most famous army regiment of Khotesh is called The Scorpions, they are renowned desert survivalists and lone assassins, but in times of battle they are called upon to form a vanguard for the ruling Khan or Khanum, alone they are formidable but as a unit they are immensely dangerous, they are expert hand to hand combatants and excel at short, light weapons like shortswords and javelins. Another famed regiment of Khotesh is called The Hailstones, they are a Camel cavalry unit who use shock cavalry tactics, their camels have two riders, a spearman on the front and an archer on the back, the camels are bred to be massive to carry out such a feat, the spearman on the front charges into infantry lines with the spear and then turns away from the enemy to line up another charge while the archer on the back fires into their ranks, it is a very effective tactic that has won many battles.

2023.06.08 02:22 Gold_Library9370 [F4A] Greek Mythology inspired character x Modern time story.

Early morning hours of the late spring had always been Reagan’s favorite. When the world is quiet and the sun is just beginning to rise and dust the mountain tops and brick buildings in a faint golden glow, one can hear the soft brush of the waves upon the rocky sand of the cove below the lush green cliffs even with the birds singing softly back and forth as if they shared stories of their adventures or dreams through the night.
It was Reagan’s preference to get out and water the gardens while the grass was still slick with morning dew, in her opinion it helped the natural water soak into the garden soil instead of evaporating back into the skies. For most of her childhood she believes that was the reason her gardens were so fruitful each harvest.
As the golden light lifted to the soft yellow tints of morning light and the last of the seeds were watered, Reagan knew it was time to return home to her Yaya and start preparing for this years Lantern Day festivities, the night where they write all their years wishes onto paper lanterns and release them into the night sky to manifest good fortune and plentiful harvest.
Gathering the skirt of her pale yellow day dress in her right hand and her basket of gardening tools in the other she turned away from the garden and started walking back towards home, head filled with thoughts of lantern wishes.
Just as Reagan was refocusing her attention on the same path she took every day, her ankle caught on what first appeared to be a pile of rocks, but upon impact she had just enough time to notice to circular formation of the rocky remains before the ground gave way beneath her and she began what felt like an eternal descent into the center of the earth.
As she fell through total darkness, ancient voices and images filled her mind. Some thing she remembered her Yaya reciting as bedtime stories became familiar once again as she noticed it was the story of Hades abducting Persephone through a crater in the earth that took the shape of an old well, but it was the same story over and over with slightly different details and outcomes, as myths often were.
It eventually became almost obvious to Reagan that what she fell through was the well of the story that must have turned to dusty ruins over the years, and even though the thought was ridiculous somehow it just made sense to her to believe that as truth.
It was almost magical, the next string of events. As if accepting that story to be true, and acknowledging that she fell through the very hole Persephone used to enter and exit the underworld, alone broke the spell of the forever fall.
Reagan had no knowledge of how long she had been falling in the dark, when without warning she found herself dumped onto the ground beside a spectacularly built and seemingly functional well. Standing up to brush off the dust and dirt, Reagan noticed a few more peculiar things:
Gone was her yellow day dress and simple flats, replaced with a floral print silk camisole tucked into a pair of high waisted skinny jeans, a soft pink cardigan and bubble gum pink high top converse. Her cinnamon brown hair that was previously tied back in a solid sage green ribbon was now cascading down her back in soft waves, a few braids hidden throughout while a few gems adorned the ends of the smaller braids giving her an appearance of glittering in the sunlight.
Sunlight that was no longer the soft yellow of morning, but the harsh warmth of a sunny afternoon. In addition to the new clothes was also an ancient feeling amulet, amber in color, that fit snuggly against her chest. Although her basket of gardening tools, gifted to her from her mysterious mother for her 17th birthday, appeared to have made it through the portal in the same basket she held before.
As her eyes adjusted to the change of light she began to take in her surroundings. She noticed a large manor down the path in front of her, but most importantly, at least to Reagan in this moment, was the building off to the side. She had never seen so much glass used at once, and to encase various plants that usually don’t grow within the same season?
Her love of gardening and her inquisitive nature seemed to outweigh her survival instincts, which honestly never seemed to amount to much to begin with, so on she went down the path to the mysterious structure to curb her curiosity.
…………… If you read this far, hi. And thank you! I’m a female in my late 20’s, I love writing third person stories, I’m on EST & I’m trying to get back into writing. You can either message me with a reply to this starter, or we can work out a story line for our characters and go from there, but the story does start in a greenhouse/garden with my character transported from another world or another time. Then ideas can flow from there. Wholesome, lewd and everything in between welcomed!

2023.06.08 02:15 martanolliver An intro to one of my characters

One rider descended the birch strewn hill on a chestnut stallion, slow. Batseai puffed on his cigar, a fist pressed into his thigh the other arm outstretched, and on it perched his hawk. He guided his horse with his hips without needing to think. On his leather saddle hung, a couple rabbit’s, two quivers of full of arrows, two composite bows a short spear and a curved axe. Where his saddle was equipped for death, the rider was more equipped for a beautiful day, it was peacetime after all. He was dressed lightly with bright green cloth, the shapes of clouds sewn into his sleeves. He took a moment to bask under the long blue sky that shot out above him, a crisp spring day, he could almost taste it.
Horns blared ahead of him.
He stared down the stone castle, the thatched homes beneath it and its high walls.
A life of growing grain, consuming it and shitting it out all in a radius of less than a mile. For a man who lived on a horse it was a still puzzling thing to see. A motionless life, where being alive seemed to be just an unremarkable coincidence to these people.
Though this monotony of peacetime was a dam better sight than dealing with mailed axeman swinging for his horse and thighs or trolls clubbing a comrade to death.
From the fields of grain surrounding it all, hundreds of peasants skittered away like field mice to get through the gate before it closed, some stumbling off their feet at the sight of him.
Batseai smirked
‘’Am I that ugly?’ He asked the hawk. Rubbing his shaggy blond moustache and flicking his long shoulder length braid. It was more of a rhetorical question, but the hawk cawed ‘That’s kind of you to say comrade Mutu, here’
Batseai reached into his decorated green lamellar looking for scraps. He fed a morsel of burnt rabbit into the birds sharp beak, then flung it up in the air before it could swallow, Mutu took flight looping high, but dutifully did not veer away from Batseai.
Watch over me. Batseai gripped the reigns of his horse. He broke into a canter. Towards the screams of families and shouts of readying soldiers.
By the time he could see their faces it was dead quiet.
He slowed not far from the closed oak gate within firing range, eyeing the bowmen, close to 40 he reckoned, hate in their eyes, but not a shot fired.
‘A good morning to you’ he said taking the cigar out of his mouth, a couple men twitched at hearing their own tongue from a nomadic looking rider.
A seemingly rhetorical statement, the town seemed to stare back.
Batseai petted his horse in the silence.
‘What do you want?’ he heard a breathless shout from an older man not in military gear, having just run down from the castle Batseai guessed. The Nomad’s green eyes snapped onto the high stone towers.
‘To whom am I speaking, are you the lord of this settlement?’
‘I am a steward for his lordship, I speak on his behalf’
‘good, so your lord is in then’
‘My lordship is busy, What do you want!? The steward repeated
‘A life of my choosing and to abide my suffering nobly I suppose, and you comrade?’ A couple other soldiers glanced at each other hearing their tongue spoken back to them more and more eloquently.
‘The peace treaty stated that there would be no raiders on our lands. You are in breach of your people’s contract. I warn you we are ready to defend ourselves until you’re all in the mud!’ the old man shouted down, shaking with unbecoming rage.
Batseai frowned turning to look behind him, in a bag on his saddle, amongst his horse’s mane, down his lamellar vest.
‘Where are these raiders comrade? I am but one man. I am simply in need of a good hour’s rest in your town and a word with your lordship or indeed yourself’
‘You’re not welcome vermin of the Steppe!’ he heard one of the bowman shout before being hissed to be quiet.
His eyes shot to him in an instant a young looking man consumed with naive rage. Batseai smirked and spat tobacco towards the wall, he heard the bowstrings becoming taught.
‘If we are vermin. You’re fathers were well defeated by vermin. If I am vermin, I’m vermin whose name you know. I am Batseai Iron Tongue of the Veulen tribe, general of the Freemen of the Steppe, from the land of nine tongues, victor in the wars against the Kingdoms of Novguru, victor of the battle of Pellem, it is my name on that treaty that lets you wake in the morning, you owe me for the air you breath boy, it is a generous gift, but I am willing to have confiscated!’ He let the words hit the line of dozens of men ‘I am very welcome here, to your vanquished lands, as it says in the treaty, open the gate.’
The lines of soldiers looked at one each other uneasy. The senior looking man squinted down, anger gone from his face ‘any man can say they are Batseai Iron Tongue, Batseai leads a Horde’
‘I led a horde in a time of war. Unless I am mistaken we are no longer at war and you have no reason to bar your doors to traveller. Any man can say they are me to be sure. But they would be bold to do it. You know when they called me Iron Tongue surely?’ The nomad’s horse shook its mane
‘well he…’
‘A rhetorical question comrade!’ Batseai snapped ‘It is because my words are more true than any arrow, than any spear. My words are what caused slaughter of Pellem where the fields are still pink from fifty thousand of your felled men. So, I choose my next words, like all words, carefully, for they are binding and they are true. If you do not open your gate, I will fight my way in until I am felled. My people, know where I rode too and if I do not return, word of my passing will spread. A horde will gather once more and your kingdoms will become ash in the wind. Now let me in, there is something I wish to discuss. Or kill me and find out if my words are iron at the expense of your children’
‘Why do you ride alone then if you are Batseai?’ The steward persisted.
‘One cannot rule from horseback in times of peace. Open the gate’
Batseai clicked and put his cigar back in his mouth, savouring the sweet taste. His horse proceeded to the gate. He felt bows follow his steps. He waited there, gave a quick prayer to the sky father, or whoever would listen.

We're Cubing Up In Boston (Whoa) - 2 Cube Draft Reports
Hey there, fellow cube enthusiasts!
This past weekend I went to Boston for the North American Premodern Championship and Lobstercon, a nearly 200-person Old School tournament. Despite a combined record in 2 Old School events of 5-5, I was much more happy with the cube drafts I fired.

The first draft fired at our AirBNB on Friday night, featuring 6 players of whom 2 had never played the cube before so they got to make new tokens. The second draft fired at the event site on Saturday during the waning rounds of the Old School main event, also featuring 6 players of whom 2 had never played the cube before. Here are the new tokens and winner's tokens from the 2 drafts.
Ted's Elephant, Lee and Nate's Squirrels, Geoff and Shane's Wurms, and my censored Bird
There were also 2 artists present at the event, so I was able to get some personal stuff from Drew Tucker including a DanDan artist proof as well as some signatures from Jeff Menges, including a second signature on the Kjeldoran Outpost I got altered by him in 2012.
The bling progresses
The AirBnB draft took place at the end of a long day of Premodern for everyone who wasn't me and Geoff, but still managed to produce some great decks. Our final standings were:
Love a 6-player that works out with a clean set of records.

Nate's 3-0 BUG Rec/Sur
This deck is a cypher to me. I know I saw him playing it in few games but other than knowing he got off looping Eternal Witness and Recurring Nightmare I'm not entirely certain what he did to his opponents but bury them under a pile of tempo and value and probably kill them with a Spiritmonger. More than one person has mentioned to me lately that Recurring Nightmare might be a little too powerful for this environment, so it's definitely on the watch list.

Justin's 2-1 Mono White
This is definitely not the Aggro Mono White deck that I've seen before, but it is definitely powerful. Lots of very powerful flyers. To quote Justin himself: "Didn't like my opening pack, I ended up P1P1 Glowrider and forcing Mono-W". Worked to roll over me, and given that no one else ended up with any White cards in their decks I think he made the right choice. Would love to know what his full Pack 1 was.

My 2-1 BR \"Reanimator\"
Early Entomb, Animate Dead, and Vampiric Dragon certainly pointed me in a direction, but value creatures like the FtK, Sengir, and Shivan combined with just enough burn to close out a game lead to this being a lot more of a tempo deck than the Reanimator I was aiming for. Not mad with my result by any stretch. Thanks to Shane for the dice for the pic.

Geoff's 1-2 Mono Green Ramp
The first time I ever met Geoff at my first ever Philly Old School meetup he beat the snot out of me in a few games with a Green ramp deck, so I am in no way surprised that he drafted it here and took me to 3 games in our match. Reanimating a Penumbra Wurm that I had killed so that I could block the token and get one of my own felt pretty darn good, I tell you what.

Shane's 1-2 Grixis High Tide/Upheaval
He definitely did the thing a few times. A shame he didn't have a way to pay off the infinite Palinchron mana, but I love the idea of this deck. He and Andy were sitting next to each other and ended up in very similar decks both chasing the Upheaval which absolutely effected their final builds.

Andy's 0-3 UR Tempo
As mentioned above, a real shame that he and Shane were fighting for picks right next to one another. I think between the two of them they would have had a really strong UR deck. It also just wasn't Andy's weekend for variance, having similar luck during the Premodern and Old School events.
In conclusion, the end-of-the-night draft that finishes when you've all been playing Magic for over 12 hours that day is never a bad idea and always worth doing. Props to everyone but me for showing off sweet altered cards in their deck pics.

I made it all of 4 rounds into the 8-round Old School tournament before only having won one round got the better of me and I dropped to cube. Finding 5 more wasn't too difficult, but I do find it funny that if I had dropped 2 rounds earlier I would probably have been able to fire with 8. Swings and roundabouts.

Now that's a messy set of results.
I had played Ted earlier in the day (my only match win of the event!) and we had discussed cube during the round, so of course I had to find him when I dropped. Lee came recommended by another cuber I met between rounds while de-stimming a little bit by shuffling some random piles of the cube.

My 2-1 UB Control/Upheaval
I won a draft again! Second time! After seeing Andy and Shame lament not being able to pull a great Upheaval deck off the previous night I had to snag it and try to commit. Turns out that a lot of good UB control cards were also going around. Gurmag Angler and Silent Specter did a lot of heavy lifting in this deck. Somnophore was another MVP. That effect is brutal with enough removal to ensure it connects a lot.

Shane's 2-1 Mono Red w/Balance
Definitely think he was right splashing white for Balance. I'm still not exactly sure how I managed to beat him 2-0 in the final round to ruin his 3-0, but I did it and it felt pretty good to beat this deck with a control pile.

Ted's 1-1 UW Tempo
Preacher is a bear, and I really believe that if he hadn't had to leave before we did a third round he would have been able to go 2-1. I do think that including the Colossus in case games went long might not have been the best of ideas, but he did get it down against me, so I guess it worked.

Andy's 1-2 Rec/Sur
Rec/Sur appears again! This time straight GB. This deck completely buried me under a pile of card advantage with Deranged Hermit and Recurring Nightmare. Not sure how he lost his other two rounds. This deck was powerful. He managed a Turn 2 Exhumed Verdant Force against me Game 1. I don't know how I could have possibly dealt with that. Was cool to lose to.

Brandon's 1-2 BUG Threshhold
This was Brandon's second time experiencing the Cube, though the first time was just the two of us playing some 1-on-1 at an Old School meetup. I was frustrated when I saw that he ended up with the Psychatog that I would have loved to have in my Upheaval deck. He got almost all of the good Blue card selection spells, too. I'll put my support behind any deck that prominently features Quirion Dryad.

Lee's 1-1 WB Tempo
So. Much. Removal. This deck could handle pretty much any non-Black creature that the opponent played, and did so whenever I saw it. Like with Ted it was a shame that he couldn't play the third round, because I think he also could have pulled out the win. Exalted Angel is still a good Magic card.
In conclusion, drop from the event if you aren't having fun. Cube is almost always the answer.

Can't wait for the next trip to Boston, it's always a blast. Props to everyone who I cubed with and to everyone I chatted with about Cube over the weekend.
Slops to rain on Saturday, the train ride home because my knee still isn't back to 100% from sitting all day, and me for eating way too many edibles on Friday and having a really bad round of Magic because of it.
Until next time, bye everybody!

2023.06.08 01:55 americant_mexicant Lost 100 miles on my range and need to add gas up to 3 gallons after approximately 80 miles driven.

Lost 100 miles on my range and need to add gas up to 3 gallons after approximately 80 miles driven.
Purchased a 2017 victory magnum x1. In the winter of 21-22 i stored it in a garage, battery died shortly and it wasnt until spring of 22 that i changed the battery and started it back up. I also changed the oil and noticed a kickback only when starting. In the fall of 22 i checked the oil and it needed oil. Since i purchased the motorcycle i sometimes would smell gas while i rode but never found a leak. I would ride approximatley 200 miles before i needed to get gas.
Now after approximately 100 miles i need to get gas. I dont smell the gas like i used to. I do need front and rear brakes (especially the rear). Im thinking of changing the oil.
Before i drop it of the dealership for more than 6 weeks. Has anyone dealt with anything like this or knows where i should start looking before i drop it off. Can the injectors be clogged or damaged.
Thank you all in advance. Any help would be greatly appreciated
