Welcome to LyricLore! Our goal is to share our knowledge of complex lyrics, and the message or moral of music. Every song has a story behind it and lyrics are responsible for telling it. Most if not every line(s) can be broken down to the very last syllable. Candace, flow, multiple types of rhyme, and literary terms, all used to create a single line! Going deeper than the meaning of the lyrics themselves, and understanding the difficulty and complextion that make a verse, line or song awesome.

2023.05.31 15:15 minasmom [TOMT][QUOTE][1960s]Is "Take these broken wings and learn to fly" original to Paul McCartney's "Blackbird"?
This one is for the music and/or writing fans out there. Sorry, I've probably gone into too much detail. It's very wordy, I fear. My basic question is essentially the title: Were the famous "take these broken wings etc." lyrics to the Beatles' song "Blackbird" (attributed to Lennon/McCartney but essentially a Paul solo work) original?
The more detailed version:
Like a solid majority who've heard "Blackbird," I've long adored and been moved by its lyrics, which famously include:
"Blackbird singing in the dead of night Take these broken wings and learn to fly"
In the mid-1980s, the band "Mister Mister" came out with their (also lovely) song "Broken Wings," with a chorus that goes:
"So take these broken wings and learn to fly again, learn to live so free..."
For 40 years, I've always assumed that the line in question, "take these broken wings and learn to fly," was an old or even ancient expression, possibly from the Bible or a Psalm or the Tao Te Ching or Aesop's Fable or poem or whatever, and both composers (Paul McCartney and Mister Mister's Richard Page/John Lang, respectively) simply used that poignant quote to great effect.
Of course it's very common for multiple artists to use the same well-known phrase or even cliche. (Whoever came up with the rhyme "I'm down on my knees, begging you please" should have been a billionaire if they got royalties from the use of that one!)
However, I just saw this
David Bennett video comparing sets of potentially "lifted" lyrics, one of which involved Paul McCartney's 1980 song "Waterfalls" and its line: "Don't go jumping waterfalls, please stick to the lakes..." and TLC's 1995 song, also called "Waterfalls," that uses "Don't go chasing waterfalls, please stick to the rivers and lakes..." And though I've heard both songs before, I thought--as with "Blackbird"--that the lines warning against recklessness/overambition by using the analogy of "don't go after waterfalls, stick to lakes" was an already existing expression that influenced both.
But to my surprise, it turns out that McCartney's was original to him. TLC's lyric was (imho) pretty clearly influenced by the earlier song. It's such specific, unique imagery and nearly similar wording that I'm sure whoever wrote the TLC lyric had at least some subconscious influence. In fact, maybe they were like me, and thought it was an already existing phrase.
Anyway, as a result of this discovery, I'm now wondering if I've underestimated McCartney's lyric-writing ability regarding the "take these broken wings..." line all this time.
Wikipedia's article for the Mister Mister song) says that Lang (the lyricist) was inspired by Kahlil Gibran's novel
The Broken Wings (1912), and adds,
Although the 1968 Beatles song "Blackbird" contains an identical lyric, "Take these broken wings and learn to fly", Richard Page has described this as "a mindless unintentional reference" attributable to both compositions being influenced by the Gibran novel.
But I think the Wiki article makes Page's remark sound more certain than it was.
This feature article about the two songs indicates Page wasn't quite as certain about McCartney's source.
The specific wording doesn't appear in the book. Further, despite Page's assumption, McCartney has explained the genesis of the writing of the lyrics and melody of "Blackbird" in detail several times, and I can't find any quote from him that the Gibran book had anything to do with it.
Whew. And that's as far as my research has taken me. I leave it to better researchers or smarter readers to help me track down the originality of this well known phrase. (And again, I emphasize this specific phrase and as close to this wording as possible. Not just the concept.)
So: Is the phrase indeed from some earlier source, or am I about to be even more impressed by Paul McCartney's talent at creating emotive songs than I already am? Which frankly I didn't think was possible?

The boar is not dead, though to all the other hunters’ senses it is. It lays motionless on its side within the sled, tied down by rope with two arrows sticking discordantly out of its hide like seams of broken bone. Frozen blood pools in the cracked stomach of the sled, collecting rather than leaking now that red ice has sealed the wood. Poison leaching out of the arrowheads keeps the boar docile, and its breathing so light that only Trapper can see. An ovate in too-thin robes shivers as she ties a garland of rosemary around the beast’s neck, murmuring prayers to the ancestors that they might find the kill worthy.
Winter has seized the land in its vise, its unending waves of cold and snow having transformed the Barony of Marlas into a crueler scape, one Trapper doesn’t quite recognize. Tranquility abounds along the driven snow, all through the clearing, hiding the buried world and the woes of man but unable to snuff them out. Trapper knows well what a mirage it is, the oppressive winters of his homeland no less savage than the bloodletting summers. The numbing cold does not soothe his aches, for he knows they’ll be worse come morning, come the thaw. Too soon this clearing will melt, its river gone from white to red, the whole Septima Line thrust back to war.
Baron Orys refuses to yield to midnight season, to accept its peace, and so from his great warhorse’s saddle he brazenly belts out a mixture of drunken lyrics and commands, determined to master this hunt even if he does not partake. An entourage on horseback spreads out in his orbit, ranging from eager young footmen to grizzled junkers, all in varying states of inebriation at his command. Their braying is nearly louder than the hounds’, who hungrily stalk between the sled and the hole they pulled the boar out from. Teased by the hunt but yet unrewarded, they’re too unruly to be kept in check by the kennel master.
On foot slog the unfortunates who actually have to take part in the hunt, Trapper among them. They huddle into their hemp canvas cloaks, glancing up at the moody afternoon sky threatening to crack open with another snowstorm. Dark clouds sweep in low from the south like a riptide, a single vast current swept in from the mountains already menacing the Oldwoods. Its furthest gales reach them as tongues of vengeful cold, flecks of whipped-up snow biting into Trapper’s exposed skin.
By the boar’s nest leans a typical Mallean, one of Trapper’s two erstwhile comrades. Sigorn is tall, pale, broad, with the close-set, wide-boned features of a commoner, and a shock of red hair grown out to protect against the elements. Beneath his cloak he proudly bears his blood-flecked armor, each dent a Darkman put into it a point of dear pride. He’s not the only one, either, the clearing filled with dozens of youths whose first blooding ended in victory amid a blizzard. Baron Orys, deep into his cups after six days of nonstop celebration, saw a break in the storms and gladly called a hunt. When informed he could not go on account of his shattered knee - he simply grinned, and ordered himself tied to his saddle.
Trapper remembers the moment his lord fell from the saddle, burned into his nerves. The screaming of horses, skidding hooves catching on the frozen ground. On the edges of his vision a rider smashes into a branch in the din, others don’t move at all for fear of the blizzard. His spurs dig, his borrowed steed whines, and he races for his lord - only for another to reach him first.
“What a woman.” Sigorn sighs beside Trapper, craning his neck to look at one of their lord’s companions of honor. Susannah Oye, junker unlike the others, a pretty, willowy noblewoman well into motherhood, with the lean, ruthless look of a ranger. Her two poisoned arrows are what struck the boar down, and her pride curls off her body like steam. Sigorn’s face cracks into exaggerated appreciation, and then he turns to their lord’s other honored companion. Another woman, this one as young as they are, haughtily-built and leering with none of Susannah’s refinement. Many of those looks are reserved for Trapper, forced to slog on foot as just another hunter. “Anya too. I think she fancies you, eh?”

2023.05.31 12:16 Mundane-Student7037 Debut is actually a breakup album about Joe!
Tim McGraw: Joe and Taylor used to listen to Tim McGraw together, so she's singing about how now that they're broken up he'll associate Tim McGraw with her.
Picture to Burn: Speaks for itself.
Teardrops on my Guitar: Speaks for itself.
A Place In This World: Now that Taylor is broken up with Joe, she's struggling to find her place in this world without him.
Cold As You: Exposes how their relationship wasn't as good as it seemed.
The Outside: Joe wanted a private relationship, so he wouldn't let her outside. Now that they're broken up, she's singing about how she's never been to the outside because of him.
Tied Together With a Smile: She's singing about the beginning of realising that he's not a good boyfriend through the lyric "you're tied together with a smile but you're coming undone"
Stay Beautiful: She's telling herself not to let herself go after the breakup and to stay beautiful to make Joe jealous.
Should've Said No: OBVIOUSLY exposes Joe as a cheater. I can't believe we're still supporting this scumbag.
Mary's Song: She clearly is telling us that she met Joe as a kid and that the entire rest of his life is just a delusion by her, as she's singing about him proposing and marrying her when he clearly wouldn't.
Our Song: Reminiscing on the beginning of the relationship when they were still in the honeymoon phase before he turned on her.
I'm Only Me When I'm With You: She's suffering through not knowing who she is without him.
Invisible: Speaks for itself, she felt invisible in the eyes of Joe.
A Perfectly Good Heart: Speaks for itself.
I can't believe no one noticed this sooner.

2023.05.30 23:57 amw260 More on the moon…
Saw
u/allcapsoneword ‘s post about the mention of the moon across Tom Waits’ albums. I actually wrote a paper about this very topic last year. I’ll share here in parts in case anyone wants to read.
Lunar Phases: The Moon as an Evolving Symbol in the Lyrics of Tom Waits
Part 1:
“Well, the moon is broken and the sky is cracked / Come on up to the house / The only things that you can see is all that you lack / Come on up to the house”. Tom Waits barks the opening lines of “Come On Up To The House”, the final song of his 1999 album Mule Variations. A laidback symphony of upright piano, tenor saxophones, and a meandering, tremolo-effected electric guitar surround his unmistakable voice. A spacious drum kit is played in half-time, alternating between kick and snare that drag behind the beat. During the chorus, a tambourine joins in on the two and the four. The song bears a stripped-back, almost drunken gospel feel; it carries a contented, weighty momentum as if the band has been playing the song for hours. Lyrically, Waits invites the listener in, as if speaking to an old friend seeking refuge in a time of turmoil and uncertainty–a world in disrepair with a broken moon and a cracked sky. Mule Variations was Waits’ first album in six years, after his 1993 work The Black Rider, which featured studio versions of the haunting and surreal songs he wrote for Robert Wilson’s avante-garde theater production with the same title. Instrumentally, Mule Variations evokes a mature revisitation of the minimal, acoustically oriented arrangements of his first albums from the early 1970s, namely Closing Time and The Heart of Saturday Night. It is as if his jazz-inflected city scenes have been retired to a rustic countryside after decades of meandering through his more surreal, theatrical sonic landscapes; the affected string sections of Blue Valentine and Heartattack and Vine, the darkly carnivalesque organs, brass, and tuned percussion on Swordfishtrombones and Rain Dogs, the chaotic, metallic, often horrifying atmospheres of Bone Machine and The Black Rider. Waits’ music has gone through monumental aesthetic and conceptual shifts throughout his career—indeed, his work from the early nineties barely resembles his first musical endeavors. However, one concept that appears again and again in Waits’ lyrics, regardless of the era, is the moon. This paper explores the possible meanings of lunar imagery and metaphor as it has evolved throughout Waits’ albums from Closing Time to Mule Variations, and beyond. To track its figurative trajectory between concepts of romance, idealism, companionship, nostalgia, excess, disillusionment, and disorder, among others, I situate Waits’ use of lunar imagery in a cyclical progression, not dissimilar to the phases of the moon itself.

EDIT: one thing I have learned from this post is that we are all broken inside🥲 Matilda being the song to blame
One song that always puts me in my feelings is Matilda
especially the lyrics:
“You don't have to be sorry for leaving and growing up” “You don't have to be sorry for doing it on your own” “And not invite your family, 'cause they never showed you love” “Nothing about the way that you were treated ever seemed especially alarming 'til now”

2023.05.30 21:05 jd957795 I asked ChatGPT to help me write a song
I write songs, and I asked ChatGPT to help me write a song about what has really been happening to me past 6 months. Here was the prompt I used, “Write a country song with lyrics around the theme of girl texting are you up, so she can call you, and talk to you on her way home about her problems with ex husband! The girl you I dated 18 years ago but you let her go because at the time you where immature, but you kept tabs on her through the years “ And here is the lyrics
Verse 1) Well, it's been 18 long years since I let you go, But I've kept tabs on you, just wanted you to know. Late at night, your name still haunts my mind, And that old flame we had, it's still burnin' inside.
(Pre-Chorus) Now the phone lights up, a message out of the blue, It's you, darlin', sayin', "Are you up? Can I talk to you?" Memories flood back, like a river overflowed, And I can't help but wonder where this path will go.
(Chorus) She's texting, "Are you up? Can we talk tonight? I need to pour my heart out, it's been a crazy fight. With my ex-husband, he's been tearin' me apart, And I need your understanding, right from the start."
(Verse 2) In the glow of my screen, I see her name appear, A mix of excitement and nerves, the past is drawing near. I dial her number, and she answers with a sigh, And suddenly, we're both transported back in time.
(Pre-Chorus) She opens up about the battles she's been through, A wounded heart, broken dreams, and memories askew. I listen to her voice, and it takes me back again, To that young love we had, where it all began.
(Chorus) She's texting, "Are you up? Can we talk tonight? I need to pour my heart out, it's been a crazy fight. With my ex-husband, he's been tearin' me apart, And I need your understanding, right from the start."
(Bridge) The miles between us don't matter anymore, As she drives down that lonesome road, I'll be her confidant for sure. I offer words of comfort, though it's bittersweet, Knowing that once upon a time, she was mine to keep.
(Chorus) She's texting, "Are you up? Can we talk tonight? I need to pour my heart out, it's been a crazy fight. With my ex-husband, he's been tearin' me apart, And I need your understanding, right from the start."
(Outro) As the conversation fades into the night, I'm left with mixed emotions, a sense of wrong and right. But I'll cherish the moments we shared on this call, And pray she finds the strength to rise above it all.

2023.05.30 05:28 Middle-Ostrich-9696 Buyers beware : Lyric Cycles warranty is a scam
I recieved my Lyric Graffiti in Febuary. Having only had the bike for 2 months, the display stopped working. I told them it happened after I used the usb port to charge my phone.
They told me if it was working when I recieved the bike and then it broke, its not covered under the warranty.
Heres the quote from their webpage to buy the graffiti " We provide one year tip-to-tail warranty on our electric bikes. No buyer's remorse here!"
I definitely have some buyers remorse. I was supposed to recieve the bike in September of 2022. I didn't get it till Febuary of 2023. It had a broken battery and front forks when I got it. They replaced that. But now they are saying I broke the display by using the wrong chord.
If you have a Lyric Graffiti I would not use the usb port to charge your phone because if you brick the display from using the usb port; they aren't fixing it.

2023.05.29 17:03 FoxEnvironmental3344 2023 r/Fantasy Bingo Using Eurovision 2023 Songs
I came across the post
2019 Fantasy Bingo Card Using Eurovision Songs (yes, seriously) by
u/improperly_paranoid and as it is still Eurovision month, despite Eurovision 2023 ending 2 weeks ago I was curious to see if I could make this work for the Bingo 2023 card and Eurovision 2023 songs because it seemed like fun.
For those not in the know, Eurovision is an annual song contest where participating countries send an entry to compete for the opportunity to host the competition the following year and show off about their culture, it's a lot of fun, very camp and participating countries get to vote for the results. This year for the first time voting was expanded to non participating countries such as: the United States, Canada, Kosovo, Luxembourg, New Zealand, Mexico, Hungary, Slovakia, UAE, Turkey, and Chile. This interval performance of
Love Love Peace Peace should give you a better idea of what it is all about. Eurovision often has fantastical elements, such as
a woman floating in space above the Earth, an
inflating lightning dress, not to mention
funky video game inspired entries, and even a
stick figure imaginary friend.
I think I've made my point, anyway if anyone doesn't know what
Fantasy Bingo is then
check it out! It's a yearly challenge to encourage diversifying your reading, I had a lot of fun with it last year and the community aspect is great for gathering ideas for themed cards, asking about if a book fits and seeing what everyone recommends.
Rule 1: Once a country has been used for a square it cannot be reused
Rule 2: Only songs and performers from Eurovision 2023 are eligible
Now, the Squares.
First Row Title with a Title: Future Lover - Brunette (Armenia), although Queen of Kings would also work here I need it for...
Superheroes:
Queen of Kings - Alessandra (Norway), I mean look at that cape! If she isn't a superhero I don't know who is.
Bottom of the TBR: I Wrote A Song - Mae Muller (United Kingdom), Mae performed as the final act in the Grand Final so was literally the performance we'd been waiting for the longest. Alternatively Luxembourg, who are returning to the competition in 2024 after a 30 year absence.
Magical Realism:
Bridges - Alika (Estonia), a piano that plays itself.
Young Adult:
Breaking My Heart - Reiley (Denmark), very bright and feels like it has a younger target audience.
Second Row Mundane Jobs: Who the Hell is Edgar? - Teyas & Salena (Austria), about singers and a dead writer ghostwriting.
Published in the 00s: What They Say - Victor Vernicos (Greece), okay obviously none of these songs are published in the 00s because that goes against Eurovision rules, however singer songwriter Victor is 16 years old...Yes this is an age joke, he's the youngest singer in the competition this year and he was born in the 00s. Plenty of other contestants for this year are born in the 2000s as well, including Brunette.
Angels and Demons: Blood & Glitter - Lord of the Lost (Germany), no blatant angel/demon iconography this year so I had to stretch the definition a bit, with this song embodying the notion that everyone has both angelic and demonic characteristics. Serbia's song does namedrop the Devil, but I need that song for later.
Five Short Stories: Flag Parade featuring short live performances from previous highly successful Ukrainian acts, showcasing the history of Ukraine in Eurovision interspersed with UK songs due to the UK hosting on behalf of Ukraine.
Horror: Like An Animal - Piqued Jacks (San Marino), this song might come the closest to straight up horror this year because of the lyrical content, alternatively
this staging may qualify Romania's entry for this square.
Third Row Self-Published: Carpe Diem - Joker Out (Slovenia), as far as I could tell only this song and Future Lover - Brunette (Armenia) are self-published this year.
Set in SWANA Country: Tell Me More - TuralTuranX (Azerbaijan), this
source explicitly mentions Armenia and Azerbaijan.
Published in 2023: Promise - Voyager (Australia), this is a freebie since they are all published in 2023. Check it out, this band knows how to put on a show.
Multiverse/Alternate Realities: Eaea - Blanca Paloma (Spain), again I'm stretching a bit here, but this song does have a very otherworldly feel to it.
POC Author: Heart of Steel - TVORCHI (Ukraine), Jimoh Kehinde was born in Nigeria.
Fourth Row Book Club or Readalong: Cha Cha Cha - Käärijä (Finland), the song everyone is watching on youtube, it currently has the most views of all the live performances of the 2023 show, with 15 million views.
Novella: Mama ŠČ! - Let 3 (Croatia), the shortest song this year according to youtube. Also Croatia did get to the Grand Final, but their semi-final performance video on youtube is shorter for some reason.
Mythical Beasts: Unicorn - Noa Kirel (Israel), it's even HM
Elemental Magic: Break A Broken Heart - Andrew Lambrou (Cyprus), the most elemental mage in Eurovision 2023, we get a waterfall, rain and fire. Shoutouts to Romania for their firey performance and Georgia and Estonia for their water iconography.
Myths and Retellings: Soarele şi Luna - Pasha Parfeni (Moldova), use of multiple folklore characters with the lyrics written by Pasha's wife Yuliana about a beautiful marriage, you could definitely argue this is a retelling of their own love story.
Fifth Row Queernorm Setting: Because of You - Gustaph (Belgium), a camp song described by Gustaph as "an ode to the queer community".
Coastal or Island Setting: Solo - Blanka (Poland), features a coastal background.
Druids: Power - Diljá (Iceland), she's got plant powers.
Featuring Robots: Samo mi se spava - Luke Black (Serbia), a lot of video game iconography, very moody atmosphere and a big robot boss to fight. TVORCHI's Heart of Steel also fits here.
Sequel: Tattoo - Loreen (Sweden), a surprising amount of songs work for sequel, as we had 6 returning performers from previous Eurovisions/Junior Eurovision including Pasha Parfeni (Moldova), Marco Mengoni (Italy), Monika Linkytė (Lithuania), Gustaph (Belgium), Iru (Georgia). But Loreen fits best here, as she returns from
winning Eurovision 2012 with Euphoria to win again in Eurovision 2023. Making her the second person to win Eurovision twice.
With a few stretches to make a Bingo challenge meant for books work for songs, it sort of worked. How about that.

2023.05.29 11:25 stroganoff-fj i asked chatgpt to provide a tracklist for the upcoming, WORST r*diohead album
Title: "Binary Blues"
Tracklist: 1. Introductory Glitch 2. Reboot Me 3. Auto-Tune Anxiety 4. Silicon Serenade 5. Ctrl+Alt+Delete My Heart 6. Dial-Up Dreams 7. Algorithmic Tears 8. Lagging Love 9. Data Overload 10. Debugging Despair 11. Frozen Pixels 12. Broken Keyboard Ballad 13. Empty Inbox 14. Blue Screen of Sorrow
Album Concept: "Binary Blues" marks Radiohead's bold attempt to embrace the world of artificial intelligence and digitalization while maintaining their signature melancholic sound. The album explores the emotional struggles and existential crises that arise from living in an increasingly interconnected and automated society.
The "new sound" in this album combines Radiohead's introspective lyrics with glitchy electronic elements and auto-tuned vocals. It satirizes the excessive use of technology and the loss of genuine human connection in the modern era. The track titles reflect this theme, incorporating references to computer jargon and tech-related emotions.
"Binary Blues" is a dark and introspective journey into a digital dystopia, where Radiohead playfully exposes the absurdities of our tech-dependent lives while offering a critical commentary on the erosion of human emotions and the soul.

2023.05.29 06:18 mazapandust lost my best friend last week who got me into MCR.
tw: self-harm/suicide
title says it all. he called me wednesday night to tell me he'd done something irreversible and wanted to tell me he loved me and say goodbye. i called 911 and two days later got word from his family that he was gone.
he struggled with self-harm and suicidal ideation for a lot of his life, and like many of us on this sub mcr's music and lyrics made him want to keep going when things went south. last year was especially tough for him and i begged him to please just stick it out until november 2022 when we had tickets to see mcr in mexico city, since we'd both never seen them before. and he made it! it was an incredible time and yelling along with the songs that made us want to keep on living was absolutely euphoric. but now i can't listen to mcr without crying and thinking of him. my heart is broken, but i'm trying to be optimistic. i'm glad that, if i was going to lose him at any time, at least he got to see his favorite band perform live first.
knowing how many of us in the mcr fandom struggle with mental illness in similar ways, i guess i'm just posting this because i know my experience isn't unique and that plenty of you guys maybe can relate. it just really hurts and sucks.

2023.05.29 02:37 4acodmt92 [TOMT] Song from 90s-possibly early 2000s, very similar in style/melody/spoken word sections to Butthole Surfers’ “Pepper.” Can’t remember any complete lyrics but recall something like “an old woman carrying a plastic bag walks down the street, broken glass bottles everywhere”
I think the final lyric of the first spoken word section was something like “we don’t go there anymore” before the main melody of the song.

2023.05.28 22:17 ephale I had AI write a song about Amy and I'm crying
ChatGPT (Verse 1) In the smoky haze of a London night, A soulful songstress, her voice took flight, With echoes of pain and tales untold, Amy Winehouse's spirit, a force to behold.
(Pre-Chorus) She sang of love, of heartache, and despair, With every word, she laid her soul bare, Her melodies danced in the moonlight glow, A modern troubadour, her music would flow.
(Chorus) Country roads, where she longed to roam, Through the alleys of Camden, she found a home, A fusion of country, soul, and blues, Amy Winehouse, a voice like no other, she enthused.
(Verse 2) In her lyrics, she wore her heart on her sleeve, An old soul, with a spirit hard to believe, Through the darkness, she sought her truth, A broken angel, longing for her youth.
(Pre-Chorus) She painted her pain with a smoky tone, A fragile brilliance, she made her own, In her world of melodies, she'd escape, But the demons within, they would drape.
(Chorus) Country roads, where she longed to roam, Through the alleys of Camden, she found a home, A fusion of country, soul, and blues, Amy Winehouse, a voice like no other, she enthused.
(Bridge) She soared through the heavens on a whiskey cloud, Searching for solace, her music was loud, Her struggles and triumphs, a bittersweet song, Her legacy enduring, though her time was too long.
(Chorus) Country roads, where she longed to roam, Through the alleys of Camden, she found a home, A fusion of country, soul, and blues, Amy Winehouse, a voice like no other, she enthused.
(Outro) Though she's gone, her music remains, A testament to her artistry and pains, Amy Winehouse, forever in our hearts she'll reside, Her voice, her spirit, an eternal guide.
I would love to see others results as well! :)
I also feel like I should mention that I asked it to rewrite Country Roads but inspired by Amy Winehouse. Honestly, I'm not sure what I expected but it was not this LOL
